- Great analog chorus from 80s/90s that is a great bargain in the vintage world.
Signal Chain:
Kiesel Aries
FX 65 Stereo Chorus
UA Apollo Twin Mark II
Engl Savage amp sim (clean channel)
Lexicon 224 Reverb
Logic Pro X
Most underrated chorus in existence..
Josh Hanson yup agreed it’s pretty awesome. People are catching on and driving up the prices
Honestly having bought it myself I find it’s the opposite, quite overhyped. The parameters on the rate and depth controls are disappointingly narrow making it not very versatile. The delay control can provide some extra thin/thickness but not enough to overcome the other knobs’ shortcomings. The sound’s honestly not any better than what you’d get from a modern pedal either (although the true stereo mode is nice).
These sound even better run in stereo. You really do get a full lush 3-D effect.
Sold mine in 2018 for £35. Bought it back late 2019 from the guy I sold it to for £35. Very happy about that :D
1:03 Beautiful part bro! Amazing intro for a song
It’s unfortunate that none of the demos of this on UA-cam run it in stereo. That’s where the real magic happens.
How can it be played in stereo? I recently got one as a gift and I would like to play with it enough to know everything about this great chorus.
@Jonh548 run the top output on the left side of the pedal into a 2nd amp
Got one for sale......bought in the late 80s used afew time🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dark sound
In a good way
@@kevinkinnu341 in a lovely way
I like the Gothic texture. Its a nice progression from Boss Chorus pedals. Lacks saturation, but you can make that up with transistor pre-amp.
There are a few different styles of the fx65. Which is the best one or do they all share the same circuit? It sounds really lush.
As far as I know, they were all the same circuit. The prior version was the FX60 which only had speed and depth controls, then a Super Stereo Chorus after this one which added a level knob. I haven't played those but I imagine they are pretty similar overall.
the sound reminds me of Testament - Musical Death (A Dirge)
Could hear bit classic Metallica The Call of Ktulu
More like Annihilator
Great demo!!
A friend gave me this pedal I have yet to use it though
You should try it out its pretty great
wanna sell it?
