I think the fact the Next Semester exists says ALOT about where Tyler is at in his life rn. Tyler seems ready to talk about his mental health now with a good amount of distance from events that were traumatic. If the events suggested in Next Semester are true, I read these old videos as majorly significant to him, but flying under the rader to everyone else in his life. Now with Next Semester he seems ready to talk about a very dark period of his life. Tyler seems to resemble the driver in the car now. You can't change what you've done, but you can start fresh next semester. I have been part of this fanbase for nearly 10 years. I'm 24 now and this band is very different from when I was a sophmore in high school. I've grown with this band and simple things like this video have been recontextualized with distance. It gets easier to talk about traumatic events. You can get past "what you've done. " Most of all "cringe culture" is dead. Please don't feel ashamed by what you like. However you interact with this band is valid. I remember seeing this band on The Emotional Roadshow Tour, and feeling so grateful for all the people Twenty One Pilots has touched. That number since then has grown and that makes me so happy. I'm so happy to everyone who has and continues to discover this band. Yall are valuable. Stay Alive |-/ Love each other :)

I lost my best friend a month ago to suicide. We were both huge twenty one pilots fans. We played this song at his funeral and I couldn’t stop myself from crying knowing the meaning behind this song. It’s so beautiful and I wish he could have heard this song one more time and maybe just maybe he would still be here. Thank you twenty one pilots yall have done so much for him, unfortunately it wasn’t enough. Thanks for giving me hope through my grief.

1/1/22: every year this is the first song I listen to. This song is what created my purpose and saved me. I've stayed alive another year. When I found this band at 9 years old I never thought that they would have such a huge impact on me. We made it.
I'm glad you found something like that. They're keeping me up a little longer. I cry when I hear this and when I hear legend. Legend reminds me of my great grandfather and I miss him so much, I regret not seeing him when I should have.

When i was 16 i got medical conditions like Depression, social anxiety, panic attacks and much more.. I’ve been so depressed and I used too listen too this song it’s been months since I’ve listened too this I’m not that depressed anymore but sometimes I have my day but yeah
I'm 19 now but I will never forget the impact this band had on me when I was in middle school and parts of high school. These guys were the first to make me feel like I was understood and that I mattered. It's been awhile since I've come back to this video as I sorta drifted away from their music, but I'm in a dark place again and their music never fails to pull me through.

A family can even just be a group of friends. There are different interpretations and it's worth it to stay alive to experience at least one of them.

My English teacher made us play one of our favorite videos for the class and we had to name one character trait of a person in the video. The teacher and teacher's assistant were both looking very lost while watching this. They asked me why I chose this video and I said it was because this is my favorite band and this is one of my favorite music videos. When asked about my character, I said something like this: My character is Tyler, the singer, and he is very reassuring. The teacher asked me why and I said something like "he's telling people with mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety that they will get through it no matter how hard it seems." The teacher is one of the hardest teachers in the school and I've never really liked her, but I feel like she thought of me a little differently. And the scary part is, just by the way she looked at me, I think the teacher's helper began to understand why I wear hoodies all the time.

At 9 years old I made my first attempt when I was in the hospital. I was using the mp3 player and it had this song pre downloaded probably from a kid before me but this song really changed my life. I’ve been hospitalized 37 times for suicide most long term stays, 3 times so far for addiction. When I went to the concert and heard everyone singing this I felt so seen and safe

Life scares me. I feel like I’ll never get better. I feel like I’ll never leave the dark place I’m in. But this song... whenever I feel like no one cares I come here. Tyler is the only person able to make me feel like I’m not alone. At the end of the day, I may be alone, I feel like I’m alone in the whole world, but at least I have their music . The only reason I’m still here it’s because he gave me hope, this song gives me hope every time I think about doing something bad. Maybe one day I’ll feel better. I’m commenting to say that it does get better. I was on the brink of suicide about 6-7 years ago after grappling with depression for a few years prior. twenty one pilots was my comfort. I listened to their songs on the daily and it felt like I had a friend to help me through. Things are good now. I’m on medication to help me and have a good support system. The sun will rise and we will try again, my friends ❤
One morning at 4 am I had a plan to take my life. I called my best friend for help. He sung this song to me to keep me alive. He helped me stay alive. He took his life at 2:33 am this morning. September 2020, one of the worst points of my life. I was hopeless that things will get better, I thought this is it, this is the end. But little did I know that it was just the beginning, the beginning of my new life. I laid down the noose from my ceiling fan, but then I decided not to do it, I don't remember things clearly since trauma apparently makes you forget but from what I remember, this is the song that saved my life.
Things only got better from there, I only grew and grew and grew. I knew that I could never hit Rock bottom again after what I've been through. August-September 2023, the peak of my life, I became somebody that my younger self could only dream of. Whatever he lacked, whatever he feared was fulfilled.
But after that... the night struck again. As I write this, it is January 2024, A little more than 3 years since my Rock bottom, but I can say even though this isn't Rock bottom, it feels way worse. There is no desire to take my own life, but there is no desire to continue to stay alive too. It's like being a body without a soul. I don't know what the future holds, but all I know is that I have to keep fighting. Keep fighting till the very end cause these struggles is what makes life worth living.
Tyler also mentions in his song "Car radio" that "There's faith and sleep, we need to pick one please because faith is to be awake and to be awake is to think", we need to consciously think about what we are doing and is it even worth it? Especially at your lowest moments this need to think is very crucial. We need to think and battle with these negative thoughts no matter what. They will drag you down the depths of despair and misery but no matter what you don't let them. Always believe in life, always believe in yourself. There is always an escape. Take care whoever is reading this, take care of your mental and physical health. Stay alive folks, we got this |-/

Hey. Whoever you are whatever you're going through rn... I'm here to tell you to stay. Things do get better. You're worth it, you're worth staying. A year ago I was a mess. Relapses from sh were on my daily basis and so many times I'd plan to end it all. I'm still here. I hardly ever hurt myself. I can find joy in life and I'm getting better at having fun with people around me. Still... Healing isn't linear. There will always be the downs to the ups. But there's both. And that's pretty much life. And I'm sure that one day you'll look back just like me and you'll be hella proud that you've stayed. At least for those ups. You're here. You're still breathing. It's not too late. It's never too late.

In 2017 my brother passed away in a hit and run. I was deep into my twenty one pilots phase, so we played this at his funeral. I still cry when I hear this song.
I remember listening to this song late on school nights when I was 13-14, sobbing my eyes out and being incredibly suicidal with no hope for the future. Now it's the very start of 2023 and I'm almost 18, and if I knew I'd still be here revisiting this song after so long (because it gives me too many emotions to listen to) on Vessel's 10th anniversary, there's no way I'd believe it. I'm starting Uni this year and I've managed 130 days clean today. I'm doing so much better than I was back then. I am on pretty strong antidepressants and although I still get the same feelings I used to from time to time, I'm still here. It's been so rough but I'm here. And I'd never be able to do it without this beautiful song. It feels like this is MY song, and I have never gotten sick of it. There's so many of my feelings and experiences attached to it. I owe so much to Twenty One Pilots for pushing me through.

A little while ago, I almost took my life. I was really ready to do it, but I realized I hadn't listened to any music in the past couple hours. I need music like I need air, so I decided I was going to put my headphones on one last time and listen to something. I turned on my music and put it on shuffle. This was the first song to come on. I immedietly started sobbing before he even started singing. I turned it up as loud as I could and listened to his vioce blasting in my ears to stay alive.
And I did.
And you know what? These last couple days haven't been that bad because I now know I can fight against my head. I can win. I'll fear the nights again, but I know that I am stronger than I think I am, and I can turn my guns to fists and fight my demons. I just need a little help.

I recently put my 8y/o dog down. Ibe had her for a long time and she was with me when I first started listening to TØP. On her urn i put “you will die, and now your life is free.
