I remember when this first aired on the radio. I knew this band would be famous one day. Now look at them. I’m so proud. I cried a lot playing this song because it reminds me of my grandma when she was still alive. I called into the radio station and requested this song, then I called her and told her to listen to it. The lyrics to this song are deep but only to certain people. If you haven’t experienced the pain and agony of this song first hand then this song is nothing but a cool tune to sing along to. In my opinion no one would go this far to connect with like minded people and to tell them that they understand how they feel in such a cryptic way just so they can be edgy and cool. This song is literally a mood for some people (myself included) because we have dealt with so much shit in our lives and this song is letting those people know that you are not alone and there are like minded people like yourselves who experience the same things you do. This song is a way to connect to others through experiences and emotions. I think the moment where they wrap tape around their heads is cool but apparently josh started to get really panicky and tyler had to calm him down.
tyler wrote this song after meeting fans at their concerts who talked to him about their struggles with self harm and suicide.
In the album commentary he said ''I know you have the ability to hurt yourself, I recognize that, but let’s take that energy and let’s point it at something else, let’s divert that, let’s kind of shift momentum and look at something like art, or something like this music specifically or even point it at me, just point it anywhere. tyler's inspiration for this song was lots of fans talking to him about their struggles with self harm and suicide ('you all have plans to take it' -as in take their life and 'fused at the wrist'-as in cutting your wrist), he finds it hard to sleep knowing how many of their fans are struggling with these things, he acknowledges those feelings are real and encourages them to use this music to fight against those thoughts and desires instead of hurting themselves ('turn your guns into a fist')
Thank you for sharing this. I was a huge fan of them in my teenage years and as someone who struggled with self harm and severe depression, these guys were a huge part of helping me get here today. I used to draw pictures with song lyrics and this was one song I used for inspiration. Thankful to be here today. 🙏

After much pondering I have discovered the meaning behind the balaclava being given to Josh. (well my meaning anyway). Josh is very nervous when on stage and that's why he doesn't sing even though he does have a good voice. When he is on stage standing there he has nothing to hide behind and that's why Tyler gave him the balaclava. But as soon as the music starts and Josh is behind his drums he is at home and everything makes sense as he becomes the almighty Spøøky Jim and is scared of no one. You may then ask, why the tape. Well unfortunately I did not ponder that fair as the word ponder made me want to listen to car radio.

The lyrics of this song are so freaking deep. Tyler is saying that he stays up at night worrying about his suicidal fans, about the stories that he's heard. He's screaming for us not to take our lives. He's proposing that instead, we find our comfort in the music, that we find support in the clique. And then the rap part tells us that he knows what we're going through. He tells us that he too has considered suicide. But he is saying to please take out their anger and their sadness towards him instead of themselves. Because he can't stand the idea of someone going through what he has gone through. Stay alive, lovelies. I-/

generally you try to arrange your kit so that you can play everything with your eyes closed so you dont have to concentrate on whether you are actually hitting the kit or not

I had listened to this song before but never really gave it much thought... then I listened to the commentary for where Tyler says this song can be interpreted as him saying even though we have the ability to hurt ourselves, we should take that power and use it to fuel something else instead...
...I relapsed this morning and got pulled out of school for harming myself, and all I could think about was how I had promised I'd stop for my parent's sake.

SongzInReverze Wow! Way to simplify a serious problem. Self harm is usually an indication of severe depression, and used as a way to experience some type of feeling besides depression and hopelessness.
If you don't have any clue what you're talking about, please don't comment. The "Just get over it" attitude doesn't ever solve anything. The only thing that fixes things is addressing the issues causing the symptoms.
You ignorance is unfathomable. BTW I never self-harmed, I just try to understand people instead of judging or trivializing their struggles.

My husband committed suicide 8 months ago. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia a few months prior but refused to take any of the medication doctors tried to give him to help. It got to him so bad and as much as I tried to be there for him and get him help, it just seemed to make things worse. He thought I was turning on him and trying to trick him into going to a doctor. He ended his life because he felt he had no other option. I just wish I could've gotten him to see that it didn't have to be his only option. I would have done anything to help him.. We have 3 small children who will now grow up without a dad and that hurts me so bad. I'm sorry this is kind of long, I just want to say to anyone who may be struggling, please don't lose hope. I'm in a dark place myself now but I know that things probably won't be this way forever. You are worth it. You deserve to be happy. Just take it one day at a time. Honestly if anyone needs to talk I will always listen❤
