  • If you need to replace the rear coil springs on your toyota yaris verso 2000 (also works with newer models) and want an easy way to do it then this video should help, this method can also be used for other cars etc.
Just be careful with these coil springs as they are dangerous, we aren't professionals and this is a DIY job.
The springs can be bought from Euro Car Parts, they often have discounts etc, if you have any tips of advice please feel free to share them as it helps the community.

Thanks for the great DIY video! By buying Springs from a junkyard for $60 and doing the work myself I saved nearly $300.

Some harsh comments here. I found this video very useful as I'm looking to do my coils on a 2011 Yaris which I presume is very similar process to this. I've seen some spring compressors on ebay so wondering if I could just compress the old spring, remove and replace it with the new without disconnecting the shocks?

not sure why there would be comments like that, the job was done properly.

Also this.... the top "rubber" has a notch that fits into the spring-end, in such a way as to produce a flat surface. You need to "fit" the upper end of the spring properly to this special notch at the top.....this was gone over very quickly in the vid so one can't see if this was placed properly or not. Something to mention for others who are following this vid as a tutorial. Would be good altogther to replace these rubbers if they are chewed-up and you are already "in there" doing the work. The lowers are particularly thin and get destroyed ( Toyota part 48258-52010).

@@DanielJohnHowTo ...(LATER EDIT to my post).....at the point where you put additional force on the suspension DOWN.....to give you a bit more clearance to be able to remove the old coil spring... NOTICE that the rubber/flexible brake line is at FULL EXTENSION....and you are "close" to risking breaking this rubber line. Easy does it !!. Same with those cars that have an Anti-Lock -Brake wire cable....this too is at full extension. Both "clips" may need to be first removed if you need yet additional clearance.

What you point out as the "Suspension strut"....is not a strut ( the front suspension is a MacPherson "Strut"...as it has the coil spring around the shock). What you are pointing at calling it a "Strut" is a "Shock" (USA term) or "damper" (UK term). Cheers.
