Thanks Andy, but you’ve gotta stop drinking the panel wash…you’ll end up being that guy at the sessions…what did you call him, “Greasy Meat-hands?!?” Maybe it’s not grease and it’s panel wash. What I need to do is get more modern cars and stop running this old 15-20 year old equipment.
I visited the NMMRC in 2015 during visit for my mom's memorial. No trains were running yet but I got in a few shots of the hump yard (NorthTown) because I remember visiting it way back when I still lived in Coon Rapids (pre-1984 and 1995-96). It sure has grown details since. I knew no other locomotive types in Soo's numbering... the "GP22" was EMD's early identification to the GP30 since the GP25 was skipped... the GP22 was my only guess that fit. Besides the fact Soo started using trucks from their ALCO's for the GP30's and '35's. Chopped short nose (but still had that GP20 slant to it.) Too new for a GP9 and too early for a GP35 (skipped the GP30's). John Kraft Assorted and Aspergered! Time flies on your videos... they are so good!

Oh, I’m not sure why the units didn’t make it into the video. I do a lot of editing, to keep the length of video manageable…it may have been the BNSF take caused the scissors ✂️ to cut the footage. 🤷🏻♂️ Truth be told, you did a killer job on those units…if they’re in the thumbnail, they should be in the video…I’m just saying. 🤔 We’ll see if they don’t surface in another vid or visit to NMMRC. Neat. The Donalson warehouse in 1969, my wife carried two metal kitchen chairs from there to 25th and Pillsbury at our apt. I had no car, and was at work, I was NOT happy she did that, but we still have those today. NMRRC is indeed the best largest club around. Who was that good looking Frenchman eating tacos? Great job Bill! GN's Omaha Orange was another color tough to match. A friend's dad worked at GN's Dale St. Shops and said no two barrels of Omaha Orange were never identical

I wonder if you and senior remember that orange D&RGW center flow hopper I had so over weathered with white spray paint that it turned pink with no way to read the reporting marks? It rolled the SM GN1970 way back in the day. And to think of how proud of it I was, to just waste a good paint job on a rookie weather job! It was a real 'sand blaster'!
I totally recall the Rio Grande car, it was a 3/4 bay. The weathering job was a learning curve and we weren’t running ops at that point. What ever happened to it? I also remember a Clinton shops, green 2 Bay ACF you had…I believe it was a Front-Range kit?
😆Not targets AT your weathering…we ALL are guilty of over doing it from time to time. I’d argue a lot of the cars I have may be pushed a little further than needed. It’s a constant learning curve. Right? Thanks for tuning and posting…it’s always great to hear from you and see what you’re up to.

I like Fridays :) when you say that your ops session took 1-2 hrs, do you also use a fast clock for the session ? (just wondering how that works as I have never been to an ops session) great weathering techniques, thanks for sharing
That’s 1-2 hours of actual time…I don’t use a fast clock on my RR. Some guys do, but that really depends on the type of ops a guy is trying to run. Currently, I’ve just got two positions for guys to run. Great question though, if you ever have any more? Ask away. It helps dial in content for the future. I’m not into northern US railways being from south Texas it’s all Union Pacific, BNsF, and KCS in some areas with frequent foreign motive power littered here and there. But I do love those Milwaukee road sdl39’s man they are sick with the 6 axle small frames. Just subbed to your channel now that I found it amazing camera quality and videos I can get into!

Another great episode! Good point about “ Soo line”. I have it listed in my excel inventory sheet as Soo line, but for ops it will be “ Soo” Do you use ARR codes? For example LO is a covered hopper. I thought about using LO 4750 and LO 4650. Right now I use one for one swap on the Soo side, on Hiawatha I use the notes I found online for an actual conductor that worked the garden job. Have you ever used pan pastel as opposed to either doc O’Brien or AIM? Keep up the great job! Greg
Greg, so many great suggestions in this comment. I’ve tried a number of various chalks, pastels and powders…I’ve just gravitated to the O’Brien powders, as I’ve liked the results they yield. As for AAR codes, I know many of them, but in an ops session, the average guy doesn’t know the difference between an LO 4427 vs LO 4750. Most see hoppers as hoppers, but it wouldn’t hurt to let guys learn what’s what based on the reporting marks. The actual conductor would be Barry, he’s here locally and has shared a lot of great information.

I agree about not many people knowing the difference between a Pullman-Standard covered hopper as opposed to American Car and Foundry covered hopper. I will to pick up some O’Brien powders,, so I can add that to the list of “ future” projects. There are so many things to get taken care of,,weathering is one the “ rainy day” projects. Right now I am working on my ESU lok sound decoders, getting the right speed per Proto throttle notch. I decided to set my max speed at 18 scale mph. I am trying to use Tim Garland’s Lok sound settings as a starting point. Having the accutrak speedometer helps. I do like the sound you are getting from your MP15AC. Laters, Greg
that's for putting S03E05 I was just trying to remember which video that hopper car was on. Also I noticed that you're using Adobe to make your layout schematic. I was able to use keynote and got it to work. For some reason it didn't like when I converted pages to a PDF, then jpg. Thanks for the great tips and tricks
I used Illustrator originally and then exported a TIFF, into Photoshop to enlarge the canvas…before saving it to a PNG for JMRI. You’re working along the same premise, did the results come out the way you hoped? Thanks for tuning in and posting. It’s great to hear from fellow modelers like yourself.
