My Grandfather was a TopLink Fireman on those A4 Pacific engines. One being the Silver Link. He loved to talk about those days and told me plenty of stories of his time on the footplate. Seeing this video reminds me of those wonderful times and brings to life those stories. That water collection system required good timing, both to ensure enough water was scooped into the tender for the boiler and that no damage was done to track or scoop.

not sure why your commenting about 1934, the Loco is marked up as belonging to British Railways, which came into existence in 1948...
