    Definitely research reputable breeders.
I noticed a Doberman running loose in my subdivision. I caught her and put her in my backyard while we tried to find her owners. Turns out she was almost certainly a breeding dog that had been dumped but she quickly won us over. We weren't planning on getting a dog but are so glad she found us.

We had two female Dobermans over the course of 23 years and miss them so much and debating whether to continue to love affair with a new one. The problem is; Once you have owned Dobermans, you are ruined. Ruined to own any other dog breed. My issue now is my age. I'm retired now in my seventh decade, with plenty of time for training and care and they would also exercise me and probably help to keep me young. However, one should plan at least a 10 years commitment when getting a Doby.

We had a Doberman when I was about 6 years old, I'm now 48 and still miss her. They really are in tune with their owners and it is like having another child, a smart child. Never a dull moment and always a bundle of laughs.
My father changed the interior door handles to ball handles because she could open doors. It didn't prevent her from learning how to open that type of handle. Super clever dog. If they watch you do something, they can learn it. She even sat on the sofa with us, feet on the floor, butt on the sofa. OMG, I could go on and on.

This is also the time that their intelligence blooms and they become almost scary in their perceptions of their owners and their self taught capabilities, particularly understanding language that was never taught as commands.

I read once in a book about dog training that Dobermans sometimes have a trait that's not what you really want, and you have to train it out of them. Rather than bark they will bait you in and ambush you. What you typically want with an alarm dog or house, or junk yard guard is for them to be an intimidating presence that keeps people from coming in. You want them to bark and threaten not hide in the shadows and wait for you to get in so they can ambush. You may want to train them to be alarm dogs.

My amstaff is only six months old but so far she is very intelligent very playful quite bitey understands a verbal correction since day one very friendly with everyone I would say they’re Worse then a labrador very affectionate I haven’t found that she Hass to be near me but she will follow me around the farm when we are going on a walk she will always stick around me and I noticed she will look back at me if she’s going off with one of our other dogs we have a 9 year old powder puff 6 year old Fox terrier mix and a 1 year old miniature Chihuahua he is the only boy and Bella’s (my AmStaff) Best friend. if I’m on the sofa She will be on the floor next to me and if I’ve gone away for an hour and I come back to her she will be very happy and excited, She will definitely alert bark but we have other dogs to help her with that and she’s quite lazy if she’s laying down and you call her she will most likely not come unless she knows it’s training time but I need to do a lot more work with her she loves carrying things she’s getting quite good with other dogs And very good with humans very brave it is hard to scare her socializing her has been a piece of cake And this is my first proper dog I am very happy with her. I think the vizsla is the type of lapdog that the Doberman is

If you get 2 puppies at the same time you will have that issue. It’s best to raise one puppy at a time or you will find that your dog becomes doggy. They seek attention from other dogs instead of you. When they are older it doesn’t matter as much because by then you should have a strong bond with your dog.

To have a great Doberman you have to raise them with you in your house.Don't put them outside to sleep at night.I 've had 5 of these great dogs and I lost my Baron aon 7/13/22,a beautiful red male who was sired by a Hungarian world champ, named 'Seper Fidelis I'm In Charge'.My Baron was the greatest friend you could ever have.He always slept in my room and was very protective of me.I'm 66 and used to walk a lot at night and having him with me always made me feel safe.I wish you the very best of luck with your best friend when you get one! I never understand why people wanna say because they’re a male and they’re out their sexual maturity they’ll bark and growl at other dogs
That just shows to me that you don’t have complete control of your dog I have a three-year-old Doberman and he will never even show up to another dog unless I tell him to do it he will not do it
He’s not fixed but I am the leader and that’s the way it’s supposed to be and anytime if your dog growls or barks in another dog means that you don’t have the ultimate control and they are big they are athletic and they are dangerous
So I don’t blame it on sexual maturity. You need to take control that dog when he does that bang. You’re on top of me he’ll kick into the side doesn’t have to be hard has to break his attention make him sit down he wait you own him by the year you have to just give him a little tug that’s all that Doberman they’re smart .

She totally rocks...I saw that she has left her boy perfectly natural. I LOVE her for that..even though I know its her decision to make. My girl has the cherry eye but she is very happy. I feel like unless you are showing for the most part we should spare our innocent beasts needless interventions. I am not against docking etc...but my preference is the least invasive for the animals the better their quality of lives are.
Ive had two wonderful c sections so I know surgery....but i am hesitant to alter my girl in any way...I may never alter her...she seems happy and fine the way she is. Just don't let anyone guilt you into getting your pets cut...even routine surgeries can go wrong so its really a personal decision we all must make after doing research about it and considering your pros and cons. :)

Dobermans are awesome dogs and probably the only large breed dog I would ever own again… Although they love the whole human family, they seem too attached to a single person in that family… Also a great dog with children of all ages… It would be a good idea to get a golf cart to run the dogs... A standard golf cart goes 12 mph and a Doberman can easily keep that pace up for a few miles

@@Black_Magic_Woman Im sorry, you should do what you think you can handle. If you have had rotties and pits im sure you can handle a dobie. For me it would Depend on the childrens age, experince and how much time you can put in training. I had a family og 5 who contacted me for a JRT puppy. They assured me that both parents had grown up with dogs, and the children was "old" enough to learn how to behave around a puppy. They had done extensive research and i had a good feeling when they picked up the puppy. It took a month until they returned him to me, having 3 children up and out of bed in the morning, getting dressed and fed, getting everyone to school and going to work and pick up children etc all this can take a toll on a family when bringing a high energy dog into the house and everything that comes along with potty training, teething and everything else. Big or Small, they need alot of learning and guidance from the day you get them. I offcourse took the dog back and found a place that had grown kids, and the parents had all the time in the world for hiking trips and training a puppy. I will never again sell a dog to a family with children under the age 10. All dogs can be great family dogs, if you put in the time and effort. To me it is a life style. I wish you all the best looking for your future dog, no matter what breed you end up with✌ Have a great day
