It's always interesting to watch people listening to BTS for the first time and his comments made the video even more enjoyable (I never thought of ON as a song with different acts but when he said it I couldn't agree more, it is like different acts). The fact that he's a former student of yours and he was in your wedding is a great testament to you Andrew to the type of teacher you are, to form a lasting bond with one of your students - I can't imagine being in one of my music instructors wedding! FYI: 🎷My dad plays tenor, my brothers an alto and both are fantastic...I went sideways and chose the flute~easier to carry😏...and I'm not too bad myself😁

I was at a BTS store in my city Singapore called "BTS Space". They have a big screen showing BTS videos. When I stepped in, ON KM was playing. And watching it were a mature couple, male and female. They were watching in awe, eyes transfixed on the screen. Its pretty obvious they have never seen that MV before and not ARMYs. But they seemed blown away. Hope they will check out more BTS 🙏

Oh, when ARMY teachers show BTS to students, it's like recruitment time 😄. I showed BST and DAECHWITA to my literature class. We had a lot of fun decoding, appreciating the imagery, symbolism, and lyricism of those. Made some of them ARMYs. Great job Andrew.

You mentioned that they were not breathy at the end of the performance, fun fact. As trainees, they would run on a treadmill and sing to build up their stamina. They never lipsync. Welcome to the BTS rabbit hole. Hope to see you back.You will get sucked in.

@@missJJ_onYT but it's true tho they don't lipsync maybe they have done it for 2/3 times but that's about it even one time Jimin was sick but he still did not lipsync and people made fun of his vocals cause his voice was breaking a lot even in their early days korean netizens used to praise them for always singing live.
I would agree in so far, that they sometimes use a background track when the dancing doesn't allow singing or they do adlibs in their own solo songs. But they usually don't move their lips in those parts, so it's no lip syncing.
There are some music shows that look like playback, but I think that wasn't their choice and the members are rather bad at lip syncing.
Wasn't there a production sheet from an award show or something where everyone else was listed as full or partial playback, only BTS and Mamamoo were real live performers?
@@mybiasisot7779 yes thats true mamamoo and bts performa live more than other 3rd gen groups and 4gen groups these days just lipsync most of the time. there are several videos proving this.
This was great! Always so nice to see someone with musical background who can pick up on all these details that a muggle like myself wouldn't necessarily notice.

fake love is one of the most poetic songs i've ever seen written. the writing style and word choices, fantastic. on the surface, we automatically think this fake love is more a disappointment/complaint/blame towards someone else. many of us could've had experiences of being "loved" insincerely. and there are plenty of songs written about that. however, the genius of fake love by bts is that it's actually directed towards one's self. the general message of the song is questioning how much we try to pretend to be someone we're not so that we fit the standard of another and for them to end up loving/liking us. hence, the love we receive ends up being unreal because we lost ourselves in the process of acquiring it. it's a shout out to us that if we want to be genuinely loved, we must show our true selves... to understand our own selves...before we experience and receive genuine love.

Talking about JK's solo there, a great way to show people how truly impressive it is, is to show them Carpool Karaoke when he nails that note JUST SITTING IN A CAR. He's a phenomenal singer. JK said himself at one point that he did himself dirty hitting that note so long and hard the way he did during the recording because now he has to hit it that way forever. LOL
It's probably too long for a reaction video, but you HAVE to watch the whole performance from this show. It's Fake Love>Airplane Pt. 2>IDOL and it's just... mind-blowing.

Definately please bring him back! He has such good energy. He's smart, articulate, funny, respectful, insightful, open and has great chemistry with you. He is 100% awesome. Fun fact and you probably already know this... The girl that the camera is focusing on at the beginning of ON is the choreographer and she was about 19 years old when she did this. Plus she's also did Dionysus. She originally competed in World of Dance with THE LAB which they won. In ON, it's THE LAB dance crew who are the back up dancers.
Haven't commented in a while but wanted to tell you as a professor how much I enjoyed this. I was also in high school band, jazz, and orchestra. Started as a music major but went in a different direction. Anyhoo this was a lot of fun. 😎💜😁

It was the dancing that first caught my eye. For a while, I had an image file in photoshop and I started trying to fill in the names underneath (I learned that there are few photos with a classic looking image of all seven). I always knew RM. After awhile, I got to where I could tell who was who in a still, then in a video and now, I can mostly tell by voice. The kindness they project, along with the joy, the acceptance of all -- what do we need more today? And, then, there is the incredible talent. They are far more than pop. I'm 66 and I'm ARMY.

"I just want to know their names" was how my journey started 3 years ago. I can now identify each of them by their right ear. Welcome to the fandom and be prepared, although there's really nothing can prepare you for the epic adventure you're about to embark on! Loved watching you show Jordan his first BTS songs, and ON is a great one to start with especially the KMF. I Love that video not only because of BTS, and the song but also the marching band, I love the drum section!. If no one has told you yet the Korean music shows there are a couple different shows that are on weekly that the KPOP groups debut, or have the their comeback stage. When they are on these shows the fans learn all of the chants for that song from saying names, lines, feedback it is always fun to watch. All of the kpop groups have them. (With covid it was so odd not to have the fans there chanting when groups were on the music shows). Most of the kpop groups do almost all of the shows, and do them for at least a week to 3 or 4 weeks (New groups are on longer, the more established groups only do a week or two) so they have to do a lot of practice and a lot of shows. The award shows have amazing stages!

Their award show performances are next level. The MMA and MAMAs put our award show performances to shame. You need to react to more of them. Caitlin will love it also. They do Dionysyus (sp?) one year. So good.
The other thing that Fake Love is about is pretending to be something or someone you aren't to keep the person with you. When you look in the mirror you don't see yourself anymore, you see the mask you wear instead.

When I first meet BTS in their " BOY IN LUV" in 2014. only one question flash in my mind, " WHAT ARE THEIR NAMES?" and from then on, I can't stop myself knowing more about them. They're unique personality really incrave deep in my heart. They are worth it of everything!! 😍😍😍💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Their songs can be interpreted in numerous ways and they always encourage fans and listeners to draw our own conclusions beyond their original intention behind a piece. For Fake Love, seeing how it’s part of Tear, it talks about how the person in the relationship is beginning to realise how they’ve changed themselves to fit what (they believe) their partner wants, effectively erasing themselves and putting up a façade just to keep the relationship alive. They realise how a love based on lies is fake and how both of them created something that doesn’t actually exists. In the end it ties in with the series in that not loving oneself leads people to be willing to change themselves at their core if it means people will love them, because they believe themselves to be unlovable as they are or believe they have to be a certain way to be loved.

Since you both were very into the drumming section of ON you should check out the live performance they did on Jimmy Fallon. During the dance break, the people on the floor were actually drumming against the tile floor and you could hear it! And they all dropped their sticks at the end. It was really cool. You guys were awesome! I think Jordan should be a regular guest lol.

This so ng is even deeper than your summary. Especially when you combine it with all the album love yourself tear lyrics and the photos from the four versions of the album along with intros and the other trailers and content released to truly express the pain of putting on a mask to be what you think someone else wants, that someone can be a romantic partner, a parent, a friend group society, family or even yourself. They talk about how, ultimately it's this vicious cycle of not loving yourself so not being able to be authentic with others and then feeling unlovable because other people only know your mask and so therefore can't love who you really are underneath. Since you don't show them. It talks about being able to truly love others and be loved comes from loving yourself enough to be true to yourself. Is also a lot within the content that covers just how high the pressure is to be the mask and how much love you can receive pretending but how that eventually feels suffocating. There was even a real significant part of this message that was mixed with some of their reality content put out around this time and some of the conversations they shared in vlives and their documentaries that talked about how they wanted to be more real and stop only showing their best sides or trying to be this perfect idol with army, their fans. They wanted to show the dark side of themselves and of being an idol so that the relationship with each other was more authentic and true. They wanted to find a way to be an idol but be themselves and not feel so suffocated trying to be perfect or feel that their connection was based on an illusion. It's really brought a new breath and transparency and freedom into the kpop industry. You can see it in idols. Getting married and having kids though. Just a few of them and the way there's more freedom for idols and many companies to speak through SNS and show content where they're less made up and just themselves or behind the scenes and more songs with lyrics that speak about the pressure and the pain and the competition.
The industry had some of that before the love yourself era but it has more now.

The guys deserve for more people to recognize them and their artistry. Where I'm from, BTS is not as popular. And for many that have heard of them, whenever they are mentioned, they're always dismissed coz they've heard "Dynamite" (which I still love btw) and have decided that that's all BTS is about.

Andrew thank you so much for posting this video! I needed this today since I'm stressed from midterms week and I really enjoy your reactions and interpretations. Also side note but I LOVE your wife's reactions and interpretations, like she is so amazing and smart (I know she isn't in this video but I just wanted to through it out). She notices stuff that I don't (even if i watched the videos over and over) and when you guys talk about it, its so cute how excited you both get!

Also because of you, I am more focused on the beats and rhythm of songs, like literally last night i just laid in bed and played BTS, I would hear the different instruments and sounds. Thought I am not a musician, I love that you explain the beats, it's making me love the production side of music!

Also, the person that you love, that not only allows you to change yourself for them, but encourages you to do it…that’s not real love, either!💜
