Welcome to Sensible Secondhand Reviews, the series where we usually take a sensible secondhand car worth between £1000 and £5000 and put it through its paces in a very straightforward manner! This time, we test a 2009 Lexus IS250 C SE-I, an open top version of the IS250 we had on No Budget Reviews quite recently...
Be prepared for even more luxury, getting stuck in traffic in Huddersfield, a reference to So Solid Crew and very little of any consequence at all. Nothing untoward, then!

The audio was crystal clear with the roof down. Never seen on before, really nice looking car.

Thank you, sir! Glad you enjoyed the video. Got another open top car coming up soon...

Excellent review as always Sir, going to say I have never seen one of these before so was nice to learn about it.

They imported less than 1,000 of these over a three year period, sir, so I am not surprised if you have never seen one!

Good Morning Sir, I have lived in Hamburg for over twenty years s and cannot remember ever having seen one.

They aren't exactly common, sir. It looks as if Lexus sold less than 1,000 of them in this country over a three year period.

That is, yes, a desirable car. It oozes Made in Japan quality.
The thing that strikes me is that the complexity and plethora of subsystems means there is a lot that can fail.
Nevertheless, I would like to own it.

Yes, this is why if the roof does not work, these are considerably less valuable. They aren't very common anyway! These seem to be far more reliable than a lot of other cars with folding metal roofs.

Do you think someone shorter like 5’7” or 5’3” will feel comfortable at the back? Contemplating on buying this as my fancy car but chances are, occasionally I might need to drop 2 or 3 passengers in some places. So I’m worried about the comfort at the back.

It's difficult to say, really. 5' 3" would be all right, I think. They are good cars, but I just prefer the standard IS to this.

I wonder how many of these were sold in the UK, it must have been miniscule judging by how rare it is to spot one.

It's under 1,000 over three years, they are extremely rare! Thank you for watching.

I own one a 2009 looked after by Lexus for £34 a month that includes full service parts and Labour and mot, it’s a rare car and extremely reliable Lexus want them on the road as a classic.

Is this the same generation as the saloon you tested?
It is interesting how the spec has changed.
The boot seems to be much larger, with I initially thought was because it was a 2 seater. Until I saw the ritual contortionist act. 🙂

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Рік тому

Yes, it is the same generation, albeit a car with a very different specification. The boot is very sizeable for this sort of car. Getting into the back was just as awful as it normally is, and I really only do it for Mr Manning...
