The green on potatoes is chlorophyll, which is harmless. Unfortunately, the same conditions that cause greening (exposure to excess light), can also lead to production of a substance called solanine, which can cause an upset stomach, or if you ingest a lot, severe neurological damage and/or death. The greening doesn't actually cause solanine, but if you see green potatoes, there's also a fair chance they could contain solanine too, which you can't see. That's why you should peel them thickly to be on the safe side.
Brooke, your fellow southerners are in a winter weather situation and i think it would be a fabulous video idea for emergengency meals for when you are iced in and cant get on the roads. Like for those who can't get to the grocery store because of the weather. Love you and your family and channel girl!!!!❤❤❤
Maybe some no cook options for when the power is out or meals you can make with just hot water from water heated over a candle, water heated over a can used for chafing dishes or hot water from a thermos filled before a storm or even meals cooked out on a gas or charcoal grill, seems like the sheet pan meals would work on a grill. I've made instant mashed potato, canned chicken, canned corn, bacon pieces soup with water heated over a candle before when snowed in for days with no power. I live in a town now but these days I buy dehydrated foods, just in case.
My son has fond memories of one terrible snow where there was no power for days, road was snowed shut. I grilled up a lot of the meat outside. He liked when I handed him a tub of ice cream and told him to eat as much as he could, lol. I used to have those big popcorn tins and I'd try to save some food by putting it in those and burying them in snow drifts. I was a poor divorced mom, deadbeat ex, working 2 and 3 jobs to get by. Wasting food was terrible and scary back then. I still try not to waste food.

Hopefully you only have one more day of this. It's 9 in Indiana. We have tomorrow to go then the high is upper 20's. I have a plant stand that isn't tall. Maybe 5 inches high. I got it specifically for cooking. Candles underneath and an aluminum pie pan for the pot. Hope this helps.

9:22 - if you're using a whole bag of frozen veg, put the oil and seasoning in the bag and shake it all together. It's much easier to coat them evenly, and saves on having another dish to wash ❤

First off I just wanna say I freaking love your videos and that your family is so involved in a lot of them. You have helped me out in more ways than one on saving and food and all. I did the sausage and potatoes and green beans. Sheet pan meal. I added more seasonings to mine not enough but next time I'll know to add more. One seasoning I found at our dollar tree which I'm in Memphis TN. Is tomato basil seasoning and it's amazing. I've only ever been able to find that seasoning at Kroger or Walmart and they aren't cheap. But I noticed our dollar tree had them 😊

All three sheet pan meals looked delicious Brooke and can be quite economical if a person looks around for sales on veggies and meats snd used the seasoning packets which can be found on Sale also quite often !! If I was going to make a sheet pan meal I'd also probably bake some dessert or some type of quick bread in the oven at the same time to make good use of the heated oven and save money that way.
I definitely wouldn't bake a dessert while cooking other food in the oven, it's quite likely to take on the flavor of the savory food cooking in there with it. I personally wouldn't bake anything at the same time unless I wanted the items to share flavor.

All of them look delicious and I’d love them all. I’ve done the green beans and potatoes with chicken breast with the Italian seasoning packet. I’ve also put that one in the crockpot. It’s easy to add to or change up. I have one daughter that loves cooked carrots so I’ll add them to it for her. It’s also good with red potatoes. There’s a garlic packet I can’t remember right now what it’s called but it’s very good on it too. That stir fry is calling my name. I’ll add water chestnuts because I love them and the crunch. And those nachos covered in queso oh my! I bought everything to make burrito bowls but it might turn into the nachos now lol. I was going to make your Mexican style rice with the burrito bowls it would go great with the nachos too.

I love tray meals! Do them all the time in my little convection oven. Also, love that you didn’t emit or speed up your cutting and peeling. That’s my favorite part of the process of cooking. I find it mesmerizing. Washing dish is the same relaxing feeling for me. Some people think it odd that I enjoy the dish wash but that’s just part of my uniqueness. 🤗

hi Brooke. I am in central Florida, about 45 minutes south of Disney World. We are under a wind chill advisory tonight and tomorrow. Low 50s with a 20 degree wind chill. That is super cold for us. We don't insulate down here like people do up north. I already have the heat on, warm socks and a heavy robe. I plan on staying in and snuggling up in my robe tomorrow.

I'm not being critical. I'm just inquiring because I've never been to a Trader Joe's. Are the colorful baby veggies a splurge for the beauty of that stir fry, or do they have specials and deals like I've seen you hit? I've just always heard they were expensive. I love your videos and your family. I now have a fully stoves pantry I can create any cuisine with and live out of for probably a month or 2 all because of you. I am also a scratch baker, and I'm intrigued by the sour dough bread. As a nurse and a busy single mom and grandma, i still make time for home cooked meals on my days off. Thank you for all you do for humanity.

I've been noticing all the russet taters I've bought recently have been green. I usually like to wash mine and peel the skin to make a baked tater skin lunch or appetizer.....can't do that lately.

I'm sitting here trying to decide what to cook for dinner tonight that's fast and easy as this weather has me hurting. Leave it to you to come up with the answer, sheet pan chicken sounds perfect! I'd love to see more if you have some as they are so easy to make larger or smaller depending on how many people need to be fed. One cutting board, knife, mixing spoon, bowl and because I always line my pans with parchment paper I won't have to scrub the sheet pan. All those little burnt on, stuck on pieces and sticky pieces stick to the parchment and then gets tossed out. My arthritic hands are already saying thank you, lol. It's good that you keep reminding people to save all of the "icky" parts they cut off their chicken in a freezer bag. They may not look pretty or taste good for this meal but give so much flavor and nutrition to a stock or broth and lots of meat for another meal once cooked.
