When we crate trained our dog, we never used the crate as a "punishment". We wanted her to associate the crate as her safe space. After awhile, we never had to lock her in it. She would just go into it and sleep, even when we left for work during the day. If she would ever do anything wrong (mostly just getting into the trash), we would scold her only if she was not in her crate. It got to the point, when we would see her go directly into the crate we would start looking for what happened.. lol.. Love how every dog has their own personality.
We put a bell on our dogs when at our cabin in the woods. Makes it easier to figure out where they are roaming. Good luck with your new adventure buddy.

Put an old shirt or something with your scent on it in the crate with him.
They'll grow up and learn each other's ways. Then their bond will be priceless and unshakable to the core.
I've used a hot water bottle in the cage at night with my puppy for him to cuddle with. Also heard an old school clock that ticks reminds them of their mother.
Hey Ryan. I know everyone is giving you puppy ideas and what they think you should be doing but it’s know in all the vet knowledge that a puppy should only go for walks for 5 mins twice a day according to his month age.
5mins -1 month
10mins-2months etc
It’s due to the development of his joints. Puppy play is his extra exercise.
Dogs sleep 80+% of the time. Please be careful as he’s a large breed puppy and his joints need a lot of rest to grow.

Puppy’s miss their family and mother . They are used to being together for protection and warmth. Give him lots of cuddles and attention and he will be ok

Ryan, this one was cuteness overload and made me smile throughout the whole video. 💗 I seem to remember you and your girlfriend talking about kids and laughing and saying no. You chose a 4-legged one with fur and are showing that you are gonna be a great dad to your fur baby! Also, I think this is the first video I've ever seen you off the ringworm landing when you went to the lake.
I picked up my first Bouvier at the airport at 8 weeks old … the airline crew was all happy to let me go back behind the counter to retrieve the crate … he growled at me a little … eerrr he said … took him out to the pickup and put the crate on the seat .. went around to the other side … climbed in and let him out …. He climbed in my lap in an instant …. Learned every thing in one lesson
My Bernese would wade in the lake only as an adult and only when it is hot weather. And only up to his chest. No swimming ever. But he was great for bathing and I taught him to wait and not shake until I said OK. Then the water would fly! That coat holds a lot of water.
Yep, mine was the same, he would only paddle up to his belly, if that! Never interested in toys or games either 🤷🏻♂️
He needs a little brother. The second is always easier to train if you do a good job with the first one.
Plus most mammals would prefer a friend of the same species, at least when I anthropomorphize in my mind haha.
Id definitely get a gps tracker when he starts going further into the woods

Hey ryan...omg hes cute as......so sweet. On four wheeler u need to get a plastic tough basket like bread crate from supermarket for front of 4x4......for little puppy. Put a mat in it too. Should try to leash train too....gotta take to some towns to really get used to all smells n sounds and maybe film it too.

He is a baby dog, everything is new to him, even the environment, he is use to his mother and siblings. Give him a week to adjust to his new home and family,¹1
Just like people, their cells grow when they are sleeping. And at that age, they never stop growing. So they sleep a lot.

I am really jealous. Tuppence was THE.BEST dog I have ever owned. Such a lovely natured living animal, all our dogs have been, but she was something else ❤ We’ve had three Newfoundlands, a bitch and two dogs, also amazing animals, but the Bernese was special, miss her always ❤

In order for the puppy to sleep, you need to buy a wind up clock old-school wind up clock put it in cage with the puppy in. It helps puppy go to sleep because it feels. It’s the mother’s heartbeat.
I did that put the clock I a old sock never saw it again my boxer pup buried it in the garden somewhere.
We called our dog’s crates their bed. Every time we put them in repeating “go to bed.” It becomes their safe haven and private space to get away if they need to. Also she may need to protect you at night, lol, so day sleeping at her growth rate is important, at least napping, for her growth. I haven’t seen you mention it yet, but you can also train her to poo in a designated area… leash her over there every time she will eventually go over there by herself.

My puppy was really subdued the first day we had her... she quickly adjusted lol. I can't wait to see what he does with the doxie :) If you get a can of change and shake it while sitting out of sight really hard, but really near whenever he whines in his kennel he will probably stop because he doesn't like the noise. you can't use it for everything they do just pick the thing that bothers you the most. My cavalier almost never whines anymore and she goes in her crate willingly. she's 6 now. i tell her to go to bed and she runs and hops in it.
Normally, I watch Ringworm while drinking my coffee at 6:30AM. Today I started cutting green briar out of the treeline. I would have been here sooner but I didn't want you to accuse me of not doing anything. Love the channel, keep up the good work, sir.

You should start getting him used to riding in the trailer now since that is where he will have to ride when he is full grown.

How many will save to rewatch this video!? I adopted 2 runt kitties and my son adopted a runt pup. All 3 “outgrew their runtness” .. in the words of the vet and are much loved family members. According to us runts make great pets.

With all that cuteness you definitely gonna have trouble getting things done. Give him a few weeks and he will be into everything exploring, and you said no rules, then told him he couldn't get on the table... lol
My Chow puppy is 7 months now he's my heart. I agree with you puppies are bundles of cuteness. I wish you 2 all the best. Enjoy the puppy days they grow up way to fast.

Why don't you make yourself a log slide ...take a 30 or 50 gallons steel drum ... Cut two third of the drum side i.e. unroll it and flatten it ... That part become the sleigh on which you lay the big butt of your log on ... Usually on the side on the steel drum there is a removal plug to empty it, this is where you will pass your wire through to then circle the logs you wish to drag without ripping your path ... My neighbour and I use to drag our logs out of the forest behind a ski doo it keep the path and the logs clean
Watch out for the eagle 🦅 when puppy 🐶 is alone outside eagles love 💕 small animals
Thar pup is awesome. May I suggest you look into Sunday's for dog food. It's dehydrated and lacks the fillers and other garbage found in commercial dry food. Enjoy your new furbaby. I think you would make a great human dad too.

Ryan He is adorable. Good Luck with your new Son. Remember try hard not to pick him up at crate time. The crying sucks, but they learn fast if you can just ignore the crying. I know It’s tough but you will be rewarded when you need him to rest. Again good luck.
Dear Tido @Ttdo333 (if you still follow comments) and you're really considering a ferret you might want to know a few things. Yes ferrets are super cute, affectionate and good natured AF. They are also nocturnal and can be active and noisy all night long.
They are also super stinky at times. Daily cage cleaning barely helps. Sometimes they just stink up the place worse than the day after a cheesy-bean with garlic-jerky and beer flavored hangover farts. Ferrets can also live 10 or more years when well cared for. The cute little bass turds can be a very long term commitment.
Our daughter has a ferret. I blame myself for not knowing what she was getting us into.

I seen a post on Facebook that made me think of you... guy steps outside on porch ( looked like your cabin) says " it's finally warm" then gets covered in black flies. Used to run for 2 trucking companies up there....my truck was polka dotted most of the summer
