I have not read all the comments but it seems a lot of "spicy" foods appear in southern regions of the world. Chilies grow better in those climates and people tend to not just enjoy it but it cools the body off in hotter climates. I grew up in the North of USA but I love spice. Some people consume it just to prove something . Different chilies have distinct flavors not just heat.
I think that derives from a question of necessity: the foods in hot regions were more difficult to keep, they went bad early and, a little to eliminate bad tastes and smells, a little to eliminate a lot of bacteria, they used heavy chilli

Just curious, does that extent to other forms of "spicy" stuff like raw onions/garlic or mustard, horseradish, black pepper etc?
@@NormanTheDormantDoormat Nope, just piment. But I am sure that it's just a temporary thing💪
Cin cin watching your channel has brought me right back to my roots. Reminds me of cooking with my grandma ❤️... My mom’s side is Napolitan /Calabrese/ and Siciliano ... Alta Villa Millicia . Thank yous so much for sharing this on your channel I love it tiamo
Any ways, long story short about the garlic.... we , my family and I, use a lot of garlic, but what you say about garlic I understand. I think that we use more because everybody in my family smokes cigarettes and cigars parodi ..... smoking takes your taste buds away
Harper turning more Italian in his look each video
Eva's expressions! Bravo! LOL
I love your videos so much!!! Thank you for teaching the world that there is so much more to Italian food than people think!!!
Vaianeia is very nice boiled and served soaked with vinegar.
At some point Harper is going to be sitting on the toilet screaming... come on ice cream! LMAO
Like Cheech did, lol!!!!
@@tiffanyhackerspace8377 LMAO
I wondered about that too?
Excellent
You look much younger than you where in USA Harper probably because off healthy food 🤣🤣
I've had wasabe in truffles and it's excellent. Heat and chocolate get along very well.
Harper! You should do a video about your weight loss, it would be interesting to know how you did it. You look great! Congrats :)
agreed. especially as he admits he eats pasta every day. for me, half asian, i eat rice everyday. pasta once a week. at 42 i need do a 4-6 day moderate to heavy weightlifting routine to offset my eating habits. it's effing worth it. love my carbs.
@@jdion79 haha you sound like me, rice every day, although not the working out! I need to get on it! But I love my carbs also!!! Doesn't help I bought a brand new rice cooker!!! Lol
@@thebeachandme I feel you bro. Are you Filipino? Dude, I've dropped 60 lbs twice in my life. It wasn't easy but I always say if I can do it, anybody can!
Love Papa Turi style! It reminds me so much of my Mother's Family. They are from Sicily amd have a love of heat and spice. Lots of red pepper and spicy dishes. Harper, you should be proud of how far you've come! That's not an embarrassing photo. Eva, do you know if you can but Calabrian pepper seeds or is it a protected and restricted crop? I have some Scorpion and Chocolate Reaper peppers I am growing but would love to try and grow some of those!
We have the exact same thing in Indonesia. We call it Sambal. The first one is Sambal Ikan (fish), the 2nd is Sambal Telur (Egg)
Though i cant imagine how chocolate and meat taste like together 😭
Apparently the flavor of chocolate is so strong that it covers the taste of meat. There are many examples of desserts or sweets with meat in them. Once I've even seen a ground meat brownie.
@@FAQIvan91 whaaat. Oh my. I dont know if i'm brave enough to try one 😥
Sambal replaced american style hot sauce for my buffalo wings. I really like it. I blind tested a few people and they prefered it too.
I've been trying to hunt down pesce ghiaccio for years as I remember seeing it at my Italian grocer in the 90s here in Melbourne, Australia! I never knew the name! Thanks Eva and Harper!
God bless you!!
Hey Eva, can you give us a dish or two with chicken please? Thank you. PS I love Pasta Grammer and check everyday for a new post. Don't want to miss one. You and Harper are a very refreshing and down to earth couple. Thank you
I am 1 of many Southern Mexicans who can NOT eat hot food, I have family who make fun of me. They say, "como que eres Mexicano y no puedes comer picoso, de seguro la cigueña se equivoco de pais contigo", my life's story LOL
I understand you. I'm from Southern Italy and I can't eat any fish or sea food and everyone tell me the same: " you're a wrong Neapolitan" :)
I find the music very calming...
😌
Eva's father must have a solid cast-iron stomach. I would be a dragon after "testing" olive oil like that, and putting powdered pepperoncini on everything.
Powdered pepperocini isn’t even spicy
Mitici come sempre! Ho sempre amato mangiare con i miei coinquilini calabresi anche se il piccante lo sento subito...saluti dalla Sardegna
Love from India ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I agree Harper, Breakfast Burritos Rock!
IF you two try to get on the Food Network channel in America, I imagine they will accept you! Y'all are too interesting to get turned down.
Lol. Eva totally made up the pepperoncinni olive oil thing at the last minute. Btw, you guys make me happy when I watch your videos. Thank you.
