I couldn’t agree more with these observations….. spot on with an opportunity for faithful reproductions, the 60th anniversary Trilogy releases in 2017 were their best so far. I was wondering why there was mention of Blancpain, then you absolutely nailed it, to explain the threat that Swatch group are to their brands……. And of course you correctly pronounced both Blancpain and Omeeega!😀
@steveb2042 the trilogy series was lovely wasn't it but just so expensive at the time. They're holding their value well mind you! Just wait for the Blancpain fans to go for me on the pronunciation!
Agree with pretty much everything but the pricing … Tudor can’t afford to stay where they are simply through selling volumes they have up till now ,as it’s an ever changing fine balancing act and should Omega slow down substantially with their increases it may give them a breather for a short while ,but can’t be a long term strategy ,especially competing directly with Rolex rather than Tudor ,if you know what I mean . The brand is solid enough to do the sensible annual increases (not 8-10 %) in accordance with the health of the “developed” world’s economy I guess . Either way ,I’ve just realized that Omega is the most represented brand in my collection for a reason … it makes me dreamy and nostalgic unlike any other brand - it’s just a feeling and maybe somewhat irrational,but hey - it’s an irrational hobby ,I guess or is it ? Ps It’s really great to see an organic steady growth of you channel- mazal tov 😊
You're right, it's an irrational hobby. You like what you like and there's no way to explain the amount of money you're prepared to pay for a slightly nicer bezel action or a slightly bluer shade of blue. Thanks for the feedback!
Agreed with everything you said. Price increase is totally a mood killer!, they increase it 4 times in a year. Also if i can add more, they don't seem to listen what the customers want. Everyone keep screaming make it 40mm, 11-12mm thick Seamaster and it hasn't happened yet (finger crossed though). In the contradictive, Longines and tudor probably the brands who listen at their costumer, I mean look at the Black bay/Pelagos now they release 39mm GMT. Blackbay 37mm or Longines with their 37/39mm ranges.
Been taking kava ol mate! You mentioned at least three new stellar releases by omega yet criticise their lack of recent design credentials. Tudor rely pretty much on their BB’s so they’re really not a threat. I think all the major luxury brands have coasted a little during 2024 I’d guess in the next couple of years will he very interesting indeed! There is one point I agree with and that is all the big boys pricing strategies (more profit from less volume). Cheers
Nobody can criticise Omega's propensity to release lots of new models. It's the design that's the problem imo having tried them on, they miss the mark and are too expensive.
Talking about price, they just brought back the 321 in platinum in the "new" Speedy 321 Ref. 311.90.42.30.99.002 Very pretty, but astronomically priced!
