    *The end of Jaime's last chapter in A Feast for Crows is one of the best moments for me. When Cersei sends a letter to Jaime asking for help, calling him, a snowflake falls under the letter, announcing that the Winter is coming fast and, without thinking twice, Jaime orders to put the letter on fire. He is determined to break away from Cersei and forge a new path.*

      @@conordempsey8854 Funnily enough, since Joanna was also a Lannister by blood (Tywin's first cousin, specifically the daughter of his father's next-youngest brother), even if he were a cuckoo Jaime would still have a distant blood claim on Casterly Rock - he just drops down below the rest of the (belligerent and numerous) line of Tytos. That's a lot of Lannisters to get rid of though, including several people who seem custom-written to be unlikely successors, like Joy Hill and missing-presumed-dead Tyrek (last seen, a horse).

    The Sopranos doesn’t just handle dream sequences better than any other show, they are genuinely the closest we get to any kind of answers as to the supernatural edge in the Sopranos. Did Paulie really see the Virgin Mary? Was Kevin Finerty in Hell? The only way we can answer these questions, are with analysis of Tony’s dreams. And I’ve always appreciated that.

    Jaime: Do you believe in ghosts, Maester?
    Qyburn: Once, at the Citadel, I came into an empty room and saw an empty chair. Yet I knew a woman had been there, only a moment before. The cushion was dented where she'd sat, the cloth was still warm, and her scent lingered in the air. If we leave our smells behind us when we leave a room, surely something of our souls must remain when we leave this life? The archmaesters did not like my thinking, though. Well, Marwyn did, but he was the only one. Maybe this woman was Johanna Lannister using the glass candle at the Citidel?

    This is my analysis of the Visions:
    Jaime is interacting with different aspects of the seven. He was a warriors man, but for the breaking of his vows by killing Aerys and pleasuring Cersi, the warrior took his hand, redeeming him entirely in the eyes of the seven. After standing vigil to his father and praying to the father above Jaime becomes a devotee of the father, he performs justice while in the riverlands and grows a beard like the father.
    The vision of his mother was sent by the mother, sent before Cersis letter arrived to ensure he did not adhere to her profession of love. When Jaime arrived in Kings Landing after Riverrun he took Cersi on the Mothers alter, the mother is merciful and reprimanded him via a vision, not a limb, reminding him of his real mother, allowing him to forgo Cersis approval..

      Do you have any ideas of what would represent the Smith, the Maiden, the Crone and the Stranger? IMO following Brienne on a mission to save Sansa/Arya is basically following "the Maiden" but if he does it as an agreement with Stoneheart it might also count as him following the Crone. Arya = Stranger so maybe his mission will lead him there eventually (no less because he's bound to be involved in the Long Night battles with plenty of deaths and "Strangers/Others"). But what about the Smith?

    • @CheeseCrumbs00
      @CheeseCrumbs00 Рік тому +16

      @@g_wylde I think individuals champion different aspects, Jaime went from warrior to father and has had a limited interaction with the mother. Davos is a mothers man after the blackwater, he beseech's the mothers mercy often in his thoughts and thinks of his family and sons often. Catelyn was also a proponent of the mother, all her children were protected thanks to her prayers, aside from Robb who broke a holy marriage vow.
      Tyrion is also an interesting case, it seems to me that the candle he lit to the stranger in ACOK saved his life on the blackwater. He could not say why he flinched backwards after all, and the reason of Ser Mandon offering his left hand is a poor one, why would you put your sword away in battle or switch hands we all can see how good Jaime is with his left. The only other prayer we get to the stranger is from Barristan in the sample chapters of TWOW. Barristan doesn't ask for protection, but for the stranger to gather up the souls of their enemies instead, we will see how well this works in TWOW, maybe this ritual prayer before battle is why Barristan is still alive as an old knight.
      I haven't put much thought into the Crone or the Smith. Brienne may very well be a champion of the maiden.

    • @nickdentoom1173
      @nickdentoom1173 6 місяців тому

      @@CheeseCrumbs00 I have a feeling in the end, Tyrion will become the Smith though. Sandor Clegane obviously supposed to embody the Stranger (His horse is even called that, which either might be a massive clue or a massive red herring).
      I don't think we should look at the Faith of the Seven either, in terms of individuals championing different aspects of faiths. Like, going over Davos's chapters, he embodies Rh'llor to a tee, but doesn't believe in it. However, Davos also embodies the mother, like you said.
      I also feel like the Azor Ahai prophecy is a red herring in that its not supposed to be one individual, but rather that Azor Ahai is multiple people who need to come together for the upcoming war for Darkness.
      Jon = Prince that was Promised
      Dany = Stallion that mounts the World
      Davos = Lightbringer
      Then the other characters who represent the different aspects, will become the supporting/secondary hero's in the war.
      Victarion = Storm God
      Theon = Drowned God
      Arya = Many Faced God
      Edric Dayne = Mother Rohyne
      Jaime = The Father
      Brienn = The Mother
      Tyrion = The Smith
      Sana = The Maiden
      Samwell = The Crone
      Sandor = The Stranger
      Bran = Old Gods
      Rh'llor (Like i said, Davos embodies aspects of the Lord of Light, but i do think Edric Storm/Gendry will eventually embody this aspect as well)

    The light was so dim that Jaime could scarcely see her, though they stood a scant few feet apart. In this light she could almost be a beauty, he thought. In this light she could almost be a knight. Brienne's sword took flame as well, burning silvery blue. The darkness retreated a little more.

    Jaime's weirwood dream is my favourite as it shows a bit more of his psyche. Tapped into the network or not, those people were not really there, so their attitude, words and actions come from Jaime's subconscious. There is an audio excerpt of that dream nicely read on UA-cam. At this stage Jaime still puts on the mask of indifference but the way he is in that dream says a lot of his innermost thoughts. There is no hatred for his Prince or Brothers. He THINKS they would blame him, but that's HIS imagination not necessarily the truth. I like how Rhaegar is described as surrounded by grief. And how to him Jaime defends his inability to save Elia and the children, not killed Aerys. And also being left in the dark by Tywin and Cersei beforehand, planting a suggestion that he doesn't belong WITH THEM. This is the dream that motives him to go back for Brienne. Something that we can imagine 15 year old Jaime do, the Jaime as he wanted to be. Otherwise it changes little but is another stepping stone towards his transformation. With the vision of his mother, he is being gently directed in the right direction to be where and when he might be needed. I don't subscribe to the theory he's Azora Ahai, but he will have a role to play in the final showdown. I was surprised that they didn't use him more at Winterfell for strategy and planning. He had more experience directing armies than Jon or Dany, but the show didn't do many things. He hates being known as Kinsgslayer, but he may need to slay a Queen (Cersei) or do the opposite and SAVE a King or Queen like a good Kingsguard (Jon or Dany)? However, it would have been heartbreaking and subversive if he had to forge Lightbringer by plunging it into Brienne's heart or something.

    Not that we need anymore "secret Targaryens", but...Joanna's words always strike me as indicative of Tywin not being Jaime and Cersei's father because what she says Tywin wanted for his kids is inconsistent with what we've heard Tywin say he wants for them (at least for Jaime). Coupled with the knowledge that Aerys hated being laughed at, Aerys made Jaime a knight then granted him the most prestigious position a knight could hope for, and Joanna questioning if Jaime truly knew his father, I have to wonder if Joanna's talking about the man she says she is. In my personal opinion, I'd love it if Tywin's only biological child was the one he's treated like dirt while his crowning jewels were another man's. In my best Vernon Dursley voice, "JUSTICE!".

    I think there is a third person with prophetic abilities that has quite a central position in the Jamie storyline. Or rather, a central position where he is moving. Which frankly is usually what sent visions does, to nudge you in the "right" direction/decisions. The Ghost of High Heart. Sure, we have no records of her sending visions to others but we do know she is connected to the Weirwood net and therefore could be able to use it in the same way as Bloodraven/future Bran. If this is the case it would also create a neat little bow to the coming Jamie/Brianne/Stoneheart show down.
    Stoneheart: "Jamie Lannister, I brought you here to answer for your crimes!"
    Ghost of HH: "Actually, I brought him her for my own reasons. So be a good girl and sit down."

    My headcanon is that when we're in the actual battle for the dawn, Jamie will take charge and become the 1000th Lord Commander, the light in the darkness, the golden hand of dawn. But for that, he needs to let go of his Lannister name, let go of cersei, and become a true knight.

    I like the thought Blood Raven sent the vision of his mother. I’m on the fence of it being Bran who sent the dream, as Bran (at least at this particular point of the books) does not remember it was Jamie who pushed him from the tower. Plus, Bran has never thought of Jamie in his POV chapters. I disagree it being Quathe as she seems very focused on Danny. Great video and discussion topic.

    I think the vision really could have been sent by Joanna Lannister. There seems to be some sort of bardo or spirit world in ASOIAF, where spirits linger for a time after death before fading or passing on. Maybe Joanna's spirit is calling to Jaime as it passes out of the bardo.

If Jamie lets his past get to him and he falters he will truly not be a kingguard or knight like he always wanted. It really is a warning i think.

      @@QuinnTheGM Great choices, like you said in the video, David Chase and his crew always just knew how to do dreams. They always FEEL like dreams. The reason I pick the Gloria one is partly for that reason, there are so many strange cuts and moments that just make it so unsettling like a dream like that would be. And the song choice is the greatest I’ve ever heard in any show. I’m with you, The Sopranos is the greatest show of all time. Lol

    I am not entirely convinced that the Men with Helmets are Unsullied or of any significance. After all the most common Weapon in this sort of time Period is a Spear, a weapon that even a poor peasant levy can easily obtain. As for the Helmet, that too is not very distinctive since the one Piece of Armor that even an ill equipped Levy usually gets is a Helmet.

    Jaime as Azor Ahai would make the most sense. George R.R. Martin likes to complete thematic circles. Jaime as both Kingslayer and Queenslayer, if he kills Cersei. Breaks his oath as Kingsguard to marry Brienne. Brienne sacrificing herself for Jaime to kill her and fulfill the prophecy (so also a wife killer). Such a sad and tragic path for Jaime, but what the Kingdom needs, and Jaime is a character that would do just that. Breaking all vows of honor in order to save the people. Honor is a virtue, but to what end? To protect the King or Queen, or the people?
