    Thanks for the very useful information, I'm 6 months bilateral post op and started cycling and wow the discomfort but I'm sure with time I'm sure they will settle down. Still doing my pool physio everyday and that's made my recovery very easy.

    Stationary bike and later a regular bike was crucial for recovery after my knee replacements.

    Hay doc I’ve just got a stationary bike at home to help recovery from a miniscus tear, how many 10 min exercises could I do in a day ? I’m keen to do more than one to assist in weight loss also

    My BMD level is -1.4 and I have got some problem in my knees..It gets stiff...I am planning to buy a recumbent stationary bike..What's your take on this? Can I show you my Xray if it's okay with you?

  • @biggirlbiking2637

    Thanks for this. I recently got an e-bike. Recovering from a severely twisted knee (the only actual tear was lateral and the fibular fracture). The knee stiffness after riding seems pretty reasonable. I think having pedal assist for the hills has kept me from reinjuring. Would it be overkill to put my robocop brace on to do hills without using assist? Or would that hinder somehow?

    • @apexmovebetter
      @apexmovebetter  3 роки тому +1

      I think the brace would overkill. The braces never quite guide the knee on its natural access.

    Very good video and well explained. I have been told to use a recumbent bike to strengthen the muscles around my knee and another PT said bikes don't help build muscle which do you agree with?

    • @apexmovebetter
      @apexmovebetter  2 роки тому +1

      It matters what you mean from build. It will strengthen your knees for endurance and improve slow twitch muscle fiber type.

    • @sunnywhite4103
      @sunnywhite4103 2 роки тому +1

      @@apexmovebetter That should be what I need. I just (what I call tweak my knees) occasionally when dancing or kickboxing and if they are strengthened hopefully that won't happen. I am 78 and still going strong and want to keep it up. Thanks so much for your kindness and sharing.

    Hi, this was very helpful but I have a question. I had surgery in one of my meniscus and it sometimes hurts. The other meniscus is torn. Is it ok if I go mountain biking. (Of course starting slow on flat then slowly advancing to mountains)?

      I mountain bike all the time with little to no problems but I did a 50 mile road ride this weekend with clipless peddles and it really caused a lot of pain. I’ve since tried to readjust the positioning of the cleat but had little luck in that endeavor. I also road without being clipped in and it seemed to help a good bit. Thank you for the video and also your quick response.

      Just in case others ask. With knee pain, ( torn acl, worn cartilage,etc), I no longer use clipless… flat pedals both on the mtb, gravel and road bikes. Gives me the possibility of changing foot placement a little… and now no longer have problems.
