How can you still be “really hopeful for the future”?
I'm a whole lot more hopeful than I was a week ago and am certainly more hopeful than if they just came out with some new content that added zero longevity to the game.
I guess he really loves the game and wants the game to be great.

2900+hours, GG NW and not looking back. Best decision I ever made. Tried for years on the forums and discord to talk sense to the developers offering unpaid free suggestions to fix broken systems/mechanics. I'm obviously not the only one. Trash devs and they deserved failure. AGS needs to be relegated to JUST a publishing role.

Things they could do to make New World great:
Give us reasons to play the game:
Make trade skills much more in depth, grindy, and useful
Make bosses / named enemies and dungeon enemies primarly drop supplies (ores, wood, etc.. misc useful supplies to be used in more grindy crafting skill trades)
This would make bosses/dungeons all content repeatable and rewarding
Reduce spawn time of resources/make them gatherable by multiple people and overall increase the need for supplies in mass.
The entire bind on equip / perk system is a mess and total garbage.
Create tradeable named items that are extremely rare from dungeons.
If a gold bag appears on the ground after a fight with the last boss in a dungeon it should be a heart racing and exciting moment. If the items that came from these bosses were named and tradeable then people would have even more reason to repeat the content.
After killing the final boss of a dungeon you should roll a 1/1000 or 1/x number chance to receive an untradeable pet/ follower. This is something that you can get on your first dungeon kill or go 3000 dry for.. or relative to whatever the decided rate is. It should not have dry protection or be 100% on any kill.
There are plenty of other things they could do, but because there is nothing in the game to grind for, everyone looks like exact copies @ level 65 there is no reason to play the game. Sure, you can pay some money and reskin your character but no one cares about that. I have about 5000 hours on the game although I have not really played for about 2 years.. back then I always thought the game was a month or two away from being good/ worth playing. Hopefully one day they can get it right.
The entire underlying system of the game is garbage in my personal opinion. No reason to chop trees, no reason to do dungeons, no reason to craft, no reason to loot chests in the open world, no reason to grind out gear that will be BOE/BOP and total garbage in a few months when they increase the item level or the game dies.
Unfortunately for my sake they will just continue to release a single new dungeon/raid with no reason to do it.. on about a once of year basis.
I have not played for ages and just started from level 1 again some days ago. The leveling is so fun now with the new story!
İf they told that they were shutting the servers i would be more happy than it is now to be honest. Even they just stay silent for whole year i would be happier tho
Oh, good news for you then! If console doesn't bring in a boatload of new players, the servers will be closed sooner than later. And maintenance mode is swiftly approaching.
They killed their PC market so they are hard pivoting to Console for another 5 years before they move to Phone.

My underlying hope with this new approach to New World is actually tied to my son, who lives in Germany and he's just about to turn 16. I have a hard time getting him interested in anything other than Rocket League anymore... we used to play a few other games when I was in Germany with him, but I'd love something a little deeper to play with him that actually holds his interest, and I think New World has like a 30% chance of actually being something he'd enjoy, lol... which unfortunately is better than with most other games.
I do understand that the PC players feel neglected, but since every single person I know or follow other than this channel has moved on from New World, I just don't know that the audience exists for a major PC base announcement unless it was on the same level as Rise of the Angry Earth.
Issue is not console but that 1. They hyped the community with something for us yet failed informing it, in the 30mins video it was only addressed less than 1 minute. 2. They still dont develop lasting content, everything they release is a 1-2 weeks content in there 4-6 season schedule.
From now until the release of New World on consoles, the development team should pause the whole game so that no one can play at all and wait for the console release. This way, the developers can fix all the problems on both the console and PC without any stress. They can maintain and fix the same bugs while players are not playing. Focus on pausing to fix the servers, making them more stable, and improving the whole game.
Additionally, it would be a great idea to have a big live conference with the developers, either online or at some location. Players and content creators can ask hard questions live without any censorship. It should be a transparent and unscripted session, listening to ideas live and not cherry-picking questions. Answer new and old ideas from players.
Also, consider adding regular updates behind the scenes from the developers' perspectives and progress reports more often. Daily updates on what they have done throughout the day, including fixing, improvements, and additions, will keep the community informed and engaged. This will help build trust and show that the developers are actively working on improvements and listening to the community. It will reassure players that the developers are not repeating the same mistakes."
After the initial annoyment and disappointment passed, I am still excited for it to continue and excited for my son and even my daughter if she wants to to be able to play with me on console while I’m on my PC. Releasing for console was definitely a good move, but their strategic marketing plan and their delivery could have used some revising and work. Here’s hoping that they do have some cool things in store for the months leading up to console release.
Well, I'm like, yes, they can pull an FF14 ARR for New World, but will see and find out if we are let down.

The official site now calls NW as an ARPG. But the biggest issue for NW was the backend, not the game itself. Because of backend issues, it prevented the game to become what it could.
I’m on Xbox and stoked to see this game potentially on console. I’ve been addicted to eso and hoping this game is a new mmo staple for me.

personally I believe they are and have been working on a big content expansion update like a new zone or w/e but the consul release is big enough to kinda be a update on its own. think about it why would they give us consul and a new zone? it makes sense on a development side to split them up and announce consol first. it creates more longevity to the game give it a month or two there gonna announce something huge. hopefully
We're all just LotR testers at this point. That's what most of this is about. They already wrote off New World, but it's a great PTR for LotR features...

As a console player I am looking forward to the release. I played on PC but hated having to use keyboard/mouse and though it now finally has controller support I am looking forward to seeing how it runs on my PS5.
You could have easily played with a controller on PC. The game plays fine on the Steam Deck.

I don’t have thousands of hours of playtime in NW, but overall I love this game. The hate towards the devs is a little weird for me to understand probably because I haven’t put that many hours into it…
But the game itself is $40 and it’s one of the best looking MMOs and combat MMOs I have ever played. I get that people feel betrayed because they didn’t speak about PC content, but they announced PvP island, 10 person raid, and other minor improvements.
This is a weird gaming moment in history and I think we look back on this and apologize for not being grateful for what AGS gave us for the value.
I’m still hopeful. There is no other game like New world. I’m glad you’re not giving up on the game. I love game pass as well. It’s a challenge to be positive and easy to be negative. Thanks

Is there a chance that maybe this rebrand to ARPG can be something like Diablo 4, where there are no servers, no wars, no territory dispute, and you just login and see random players?
I think this is logic with the new shards systems as well.
I wish AGS would have made a video for just us guys that have been loyally following, or at lease mentioning PC players some where. I'm still confused about what exactly the NW: Aeternum means for me. I was worried at first that all my hard work would be erased. Overall, I'm happy with the new "content." If it means we're closer to mega servers (or something similar) where I can run dungeons all day long, then this is the best news I could have been given.

I played in a few of the beta tests for once human. It’s great and the dev team communicates and cares about feedback. I’ll miss new world but too many other games out worth our time

I keep seeing ARR moment getting passed around, but the number of times I've heard this time they'll save the game for sure is giving me Archeage fresh start flashbacks, hopefully this isn't their New World: Unchained moment. I hope the console release gives them the success they need to keep pushing content, no new expansion this year is going to be rough for pc players.
I can really understand why PC players were upset. The whole video where they were bleeping out things that were coming just seemed like trolling the current players. Then having the only announcement being that they were releasing on console... I get it.
That said, the main thing I've been waiting for before trying this game is native controller support. That has been brought in, so now I'm just waiting to see if the game goes on sale for the Summer Sale. From everything I've seen, it appears that I will have plenty of content to play through for many, many months. Looking forward to finally trying the game for the first time.
They need a new PR team and better community engagement.

I believe that the console players are getting the game we wish we got at launch. Where they lied is that they have a large end game. If new world focuses on end game content then they may retain the console players but if they do the same thing they did to us there will not be a 3rd chance.
I mean there is a ton of gloom and doom, like usual in most of the community. What are we getting? Larger, new audience. Cross server play and guesting. 725 gear score, so more to grind upward. Raid. Solo REPEATABLE trials. PVP only zone. It's a huge update, and doesn't make the current game or progress useless (not a full 2.0).
11 is the closest u can get to 1.0. I wish they would make a private 1.0 server

The developers should be out in force convincing PC players how the upcoming game will benefit them. This will be a huge change to the game. I don't know if it FFXIV is the best comparison. Perhaps ESO changing with One Tamriel may be closer to what will be happening but we need more details to know. Time will of course tell but I'm keeping an open mind.
Console gamers aren't going to log in to dead servers either.
The Devs better get off their ass, and SOON, and give those of us who have been playing the game for years now something to look forward to, or there will be hell to pay and Console Players won't want to play the game because of all the bad press that will be launched.

This entire project is shaping up to be little more than PTR for LotR at this point. We're all just testers now.
For Realm Reborn Moment, u need a hard reset, and would be benefical to have a contentstructure and release pipeline and a general direction where the game is going. this is just milking consol players.

The developers cant afford to add much in the way of content as it is diverting even more resources to develop a console port means even less content for the pc player base I see them taking the console players money and diverting that to the lord of the rings MMO and new world entering maintenance mode I hope I'm wrong but I really think the writings on the wall
I feel like thy already abandoned NW PC players to develop new LOTR mmorpg. Thy just want to use us as test subjects to test the new features and create extra fund to develop new LOTR mmorpg. Probably when new LOTR mmorpg comes, very less players will play New World; because it is LOTR, so everyone will want to try it over New World and after that thy probably close New World similar to Archeage 1. They milked Archeage 1 players for development of Archeage 2 without any Archeage 1 contents for years then closes it. Now, a similar subject is experienced by NW players 🤔

No. It wouldn't have been better recieved because 1 trial, 1 mini pvp area, and 1 mini raid is an unacceptable amount of content for a year. FFXIV:ARR worked because they fired the guy in charge and Yoshi P took over. If they fired Scot and Jeff Kaplan took over, I might actually be excited

I get that you're a superfan, and I get the game has a small but very dedicated fanbase... but Amazon is a business. The current PC playerbase is not enough to sustain the game. I'm baffled as to why any grown-ass adult is "confused" about what's going on. They need console to be a big hit, to keep the game rolling. New World's current playerbase is not worth supporting for years... they need new blood. It seems most of the players who are confused, are just confused about life and business.
Continuing to throw good money after bad is not something any sane business is eager to do, and Amazon as a company is a lot of things, but they aren't stupid. I get that the PC player base feels all this existential angst about being "ignored"... but you better say your prayers at night that the console release revitalizes this game. You guys oughtta be HAPPY that they're pushing this hard on the console side, and trying to introduce to new players and bring them in. This is a classic example of being so selfish and focused on what THEY want, that they don't see the forest for the trees. And the forest's state is clear: maintenance mode is quickly approaching unless there is a pretty massive shift of players in the upwards direction. Them's the cold hard facts. And don't come at me, I'm just communicating some realities everyone seems to be completely oblivious to. We all know everyone wants their shiny new toys and wants them now, but you'll have to hope for some delayed gratification.

It will be the same basic thing. New conetent will come out. I will play for a couple of weeks and get bored and will be back to playing something else. The game will die because while they can bring in new fans, this game does not have good player retention. Until they figure that part out, the game is pretty much doomed. The next step will be going free to play and that will bring a bunch of pay to win and micro transaction stuff, much more so then there is already. The game won't be making money and work on NW will grind to a halt and focus will put into other games.
