Sage is a very well designed healer, but a lot of people find it scary since you don't really get powerful "Oshit!" buttons lol. You need to plan things out a little bit(at first that is, it quickly becomes habit). Feels super powerful once you figure it out, tanks in lvl 90 dungeons barely drop in health at all even though you're mostly just standing there having a laser rave party in the middle of the band of baddies waiting for the right moment to press the next OGCD. Once you learn what the spells do and which ones work well together it's a very easy class to play efficiently
Good point about the lack of "oh shit" buttons-closest thing is Zoe+Pneuma, but that's not super reliable given the 2m CD on Pneuma (and it being only available at 90). But yeah, I totally agree that it's a job with a high initial learning curve that VERY quickly flattens out and becomes super simple once you know which lego goes where.
"Easier Than You Think" My mind went numb half way through this. Not saying the guide was bad, it's the shortest and most concise one I've ever seen. But I don't see how anyone could find this easy.
Honestly, 90% of Sage is throwing Kardia on your tank and using Dosis over and over again with E. Diagnosis to mitigate raidwide damage. 5% is throwing out extra instant heals when you need to and throwing up party wide damage mit like Kerachole. The last 5% is the Raid level knowledge you need to perfect the job. Casual content Sage is pretty damn simple. Endgame Sage can get a bit complicated, but its similar to cycling damage mit on a tank....instead you're cycling healing/shields....on the tank.
Halfway?! I went crosseyed at the very beginning! But I am at the main story quest chain right now where i HAVE to go in as sage and it is just scaring the crap out of me going into the dungeon to try healing the NPC party....
Lmao you're completely right about SGE's simplicity - I agree that a common misconception is that it's the hardest healer to play. Anyway, as a SGE main, lovely vid! I just want to add a tip for dungeoning once you hit 86: Krasis (on the tank) > Physis II > Kerachole > Haima/Panhaima. By routinely starting with Krasis every pull, you increase the efficacy of the following heals (as well as Kardia and whatever else you use), making keeping the tank alive during a wall 2 wall much easier. Krasis should usually be off cool down by the next pull, allowing you to lead with it again consistently.
ideally in trash pulls you should be starting with krasis before physis. you would buff your physis regen ticks, then once kera is up its buffed by both krasis and physis. that plus haima/panhaima and kardia is usually enough for most trash pulls at 90. dont sleep on krasis, as it has 60 second recast just like physis and thus can always be used once per trash pull since trash pulls generally take about 60 seconds each.
There's some incredibly useful information in these videos. My one and only gripe is the pace at which we're going. As a non-native english speaker, we're really soaring over a lot of words and fast. Also that 'Phlegma - don't', really got the better of me.
LOL, glad you enjoyed that! I definitely need to work on slowing down-this video was an especially bad example! I appreciate the concrete but kind feedback, and thank you so much for watching! :D
don't worry, you're not alone. i am a native english speaker and i had to slow the video down so i could follow. really solid and entertaining content though!
Sage isn't as hard as it looks, but what throws most people off I think is the fact that it starts at level 70 with so many similarly phrased abilities. Great guide!
I might be in the minority but I feel like FF14 should have you start from lvl 1 on any jobs that are unlocked with new expansions. It would help people learn the job leveling from 1 instead of having 30 ability’s to learn at once
TBH, for me, Holos and Panhaima always felt like the weirdest skills because you want to use them when the party takes damage multiple times to get max effect and that just doesn't happen all that often outside of dungeon healing tanks during big mob pulls.
I totally understand. The heal part of Holos is really terrible from a “spell identity” point of view, since the other two parts (%mit and shield) encourage proactive use, especially if you want to snapshot a DoT on a raid AoE or something. It sucks, but sometimes I just ignore the heal part. However, there are definitely fights (especially this tier) where you have relatively quick but separate instances of raid damage back to back, and Holos can really shine there.
You honestly don’t need to get max value out of every use, as long as the use is saving you from needing to GCD heal and you’ll have it up for the key moments of a fight. Like using Panhaima for the limit cut near the start of P6S. You won’t get anywhere close to full value out of it, but the small shield and then heal when it falls off will basically top people off before the next mechanic in combo with something else minor like an Assize or Ixochole or whatever and it’ll be back up again before you want it for something like Cachexia 1.
In my experience I p much exclusively use Holos as either a panic button or as Kerachole is falling off before another big hit. Kera's regen is usually enough to bring people back after a one-time raid wide but if its multiple the heal on Holos really works perfect. Also when you're looking for it there are spots in duties that seem almost made for panhaima. Several EW lvl90 duties have raidwides that hit 5-6 times almost specifically for this (final boss of Troia and 3rd boss of Euphrosyne specifically come to mind). Squenix has made sure that sage has stuff to actually throw these abilities at and for that i'm thankful lol
This was actually super useful for me. I started out healing, eventually played all roles and ended up liking tanking more than healing come Endwalker. Especially sage I only levelled and didn't really touch again. After watching this, redoing my hotbars and practicing a bit, I'm spamming mentor roulettes on sage because it's so damn satisfying. I tank you a lot 🧡
Excellent in-depth Sage guide. I’ve only got one complaint and I’m sure it doesn’t affect all viewers - narrator talks FAST AF. I had to pause a lot, but thank you so much for adding subtitles. First FFXIV I’ve watched that has them and they are extremely helpful! One other thing, wouldn’t Phlegma be pronounced like phlegm (flem) with the g silent?
Really good guide ! SGE was my first healer, as I was never motivated to push through the low-level experience of the 3 others. Loved it, and leveled every other to 90 ; as much as I like them, Sage is one step above for me. Might be because I play tank a lot, but all the instant casts, weaving, mitigation and zipping around will never not feel good. I think they did a fine job on the "damage-focused healer" fantasy they were advertising.
This is awesome! I actually totally agree that SGE is probably the easiest sell to other role mains-even though it seems a little busy at first, that's part of the draw. Once you learn where everything goes, even roughly, things REALLY click and the job just feels nice. Also, big agree on Icarus-any time I play another heal now, I just feel so slow... Thank you, great comment! :D
Sage is weird! I tried to make it straightforward, but it wound up a full 5 minutes longer than my WHM video. The job IS easy, but it can take some experience in the field for things to click. I’m sure it’ll make sense if you do some content, even if it costs a few tanks their lives! :D
A note about Rhizomata: if you use it when having 2 stcks of Addersgal, your timer towards the next stack will reset and stop, meaning that's lost time generated into a stack. This could potentially lead to a lost Addersgall if not propely managed. Thus, ensure that you have only 1 (or 0!) stacks to avoid timer generation loss before using Rhizomata.
heh finally first EDIT: video WATCHED, your videos just keep getting better and better! i know this is specifically a sage video, but this also has a lot of transferrable knowledge for other healers. for me personally, i always struggled with cycling CDs and this helped me understand that a lot more! very in-depth guide, yet easy to follow. keep up the good work and i'm looking forward to the next video PS 8:11 was awesome PPS i couldn't help but notice the ninja in the EW ex4 clips you used in this video! it seemed like they just had a perpetual head empty debuff or they were dying/collecting vuln stacks/dead 😹 felt that so hard, nin players am i right
Great vid and tips. I just leveled my Sage to 80 over the weekend and now know a little more on how to use my abilities. I'm excited to see this channel grow. Kupo!
Thank you so much!! I love Sage, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you can get your head around it. Once it clicks, it's super simple! May Good King Moggle Mog (blessed be his name) watch over you.
Thank you for this amazing and simple guide! Leveled SGE once it came out and as a WHM main, it was fun to play but I was so used to the reactive style of healing of WHM that I found myself losing my tank since I was playing SGE reactively more than proactively. Went back to my main as it fit my playstyle more. But since returning to Eorzea, I really wanted to play SGE again and then I found your guide! It finally gave me the headspace on how to approach and play SGE! Thanks again!!
First duty I took Sage into via Duty Finder wound up being Orbonne Monastery, and despite my initial expectations (I usually run Orbonne as a RDM), I did better than I expected. Especially considering the fact that our other healer (a WHM) was completely new to the raid and running it blind, so I wound up having to do they heavy lifting as Healer to boot. The only real problem we had was Thunder God, as the second time Cleansing Strike happened, the WHM didn't know that it was a Heal check due to Doom, and despite my best efforts to do *ALL* of the healing, it wasn't enough to stop Cleansing Strike from killing us. At that point I sort of became our Alliance's "lead" healer (though I'd made it clear going in that it was my first time running the Raid as any sort of Healer and that I usually run a DPS Job), despite my overall lack of experience as a Healer in 24-man raids, and we did quite well. That one hiccup with Cleansing Strike was the only real issue our Alliance had, as even though our WHM died at least once against every single boss, I was quick to get them back up (though in retrospect I probably could have just left them, since we also had a RDM with us, I probably could have hoped our RDM would save me the trouble of reviving our WHM). Probably wasn't the smartest move on my part to choose *ORBONNE MONASTERY* as my first "serious" test of the Sage, particularly with me not being 100% familiar with the Job yet, but it still worked out better than I expected. :P
I’ve spent almost 3 months leveling and mastering ast but now I’m gonna dive into sage sage is so cool from the little bit I’ve played. I like how u have damage spells that also heal. 2 birds 1 stone
Your comments of matching the skills to scholar is what made Sage tick for me. Once I realized what the abilities actually do (past the crazy names), it was easier to line them up on my hotbar to be in a similar fashion as my scholar.
I’m glad that connection helped! :D The jobs are PRETTY similar, or at least share a skeleton, so if you understand Scholar decently enough, then Sage will click soon! Best of luck :D
Very helpful! I just got sage yesterday and needed help 😂 I had to slow down the video to .75 because it was going to fast for me to gather all these information. Other than that very very helpful thank you so much!
I'm starting Sage, and it has always confused me. I'm so glad I found your vid. You broke it down really well and explained what works in what situation. I'm still a bit nervous, but willing to try this out.
Learned a lot of stuff to make my life easier. I was surprised to see combo krasis+phisis during thrash pulls never be mentioned tho. Their cooldowns are both 60s so they're my go to when the tank stops and allows me to focus on dps only yeeting a taurochole midway the fight
I still have so much to learn on Sage! But at least I do well enough to heal people through ShB dungeons and trials. I’m far from optimized but it’s a process to get there. I’ve only been playing Sage intensively for maybe about a month or so now, and not yet in Endwalker dungeons or trials as I’m mostly playing roulettes together with my boyfriend and a couple of sprouts from the FC (and the latter are In Stormblood now) but should be running some Endwalker content soon with my boyfriend as his current job is at lvl 82 now. Sage is really a lot of fun, and when you run alone like doing fates or something, it’s really an all in one job as you do pretty good DPS (I can easily hit some 14K with Dosis in Ultima Thule), you can heal any damage you take, and you can really take a beating and a half thanks to Kardion and Eukrasian diagnosis so you’re basically a one person army who’s laughing your ass off at the “0” damage from big enemy attacks. I intentionally stay in danger zones a lot of the time in fates on my Sage both for laughs and to break my barrier so I build up the stacks so I can use Toxicon. The other day I got invited to a party in Thavnair where me and a couple of randoms ran fates together and I ran together with a dancer and summoner and it was just super smooth along with no fatalities on my watch (I don’t think the enemies agree there though) I now consider myself a Sage main and I intend on learning it enough to run more than just daily roulettes on it. FC has Bozja planned and I shall be healing there (by choice) I am however pretty stuck with Eukrasian diagnosis and the AoE version of it, along with physis, kerachole and ixo, maybe because in most content I have been running this far, I just don’t have access to the fancy stuff like haima or panhaima etc due to level sync. I need to get better at using the whole kit and when to use stuff
Sounds like you've had some awesome experiences on SGE! :D I always love your comments on my videos, they're always so well-thought out and personal! Awesome that you're enjoying the job so much, and I agree with your reasons! It really does have some amazing damage (for a healer) and I find its gameplay active enough to stay fresh even when spamming content. As for relying on GCDs-it's totally fine while you're getting comfortable. Whatever keeps the group up! But as you unlock more tools and get familiar with them, you'll definitely realize you don't need the Eukrasian heals that often. They of course have their place, but Holos, Kera, Ixo, Physis, etc. are all SO STRONG. Just experiment a bit! If you find a button you haven't been pressing (say, Krasis when you unlock it, or Soteria at lower levels), press it and just try to feel out what sort of difference it makes. I practically guarantee you you'll notice it, and then it'll help you place them together like, "OK, this is a BIG IMPACT ability, this one is small. I can link these together, then when they're up, use ANOTHER big impact and small impact together after." Trust me, when you get into some later dungeons especially, you'll start to adapt! :D
I just had an almost ctf Sage in the expert roulette team today, we practically took no damage in Fell Court and the mobs just melted away. It’s insane when done well
I think it's between SCH and SGE who the best dungeon healer is, but both can absolutely blow the instance apart. It's not uncommon for SGE to top DPS meters on top of keeping a tank at 95%+ hp. Very great dungeon job!
I STILL sometimes forget kardia and wonder why the dungeon was soo hard. Thank you for the fun refresher course. My pc failed and my SE/PS won't unlink my old account so I had to start from scratch its been years so thank you!
I had to follow specifically because you pronounce the addersgall abilities with the correct "oh-lay" suffix 😊. Plus you're funny, so that's entertaining
First time ever that I had to slow a video down to 0.75 speed so I can listen to it at normal pace :D Awesome video though, you covered everything I was wondering about the sage.
I picked Sage as my first healer to get to lvl 90. I went in with the expectations of it being the hardest healing class to master but it ended up being the opposite. I had general idea of what skills i should be using for certain scenarios but thanks to this guide i now know the optimal use of skills heal in dungeons and raids. Only encounter knowledge will hold me back along with awareness. Tldr, it certainly a very busy/proactive class for a healer, is just have to remember to always plegma-Don't.
Thank you for this video! I knew sage was pretty strong, having been healed by quite a few (I mainly tank), but I was not getting the healing style on my own. Watched this, and was able to run a few dungeons successfully, thx!
Great job pronouncing "Physis' ", that's a lot of ssss. :) Great video. I'm a Sage, and I've taken a break for a few months. This is an excellent explanation of the job and how the tools work, and provided a great reminder of what the heck I should be doing. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this guide! Sage is my last healer to level and trying to make sense of the skills was a very daunting task, this guide helped a lot
I've been a WHM main for a while, and the jump to shield healer has seemed scary... but this guide has put Sage's kit into more understandable terms and chunks of when to use what, and which tools do and don't work well together. I probably won't be taking Sage into extreme trials any time soon, but maybe I'll give the expert roulette a whirl doing something other than Holy spam sometime soon. Thanks!
@@specstreTV I was going to stick with Scholar but whilst levelling Sage, I realised how fun it is to play. I prefer to be a barrier healer so Sage has proven perfect for me!
What I find hardest to grasp (as a new level 70 mage who has never healed before) is how to keep up with all these status effects and their various CDs. Whenever I tank or DPS I usually have a rotation of a few CDs or combo starters. With sage it feels like I have 3 different aspects to consider, all which intersect each other. I've got Kardion abilities, Addersgall abilties, and mixed in there is various CDs and AOEs that all seem contextual and I don't immediately grok how they interact. I think the only way I will start to understand is if I setup my keybinds to be split between single target and AoE abilities.
finally a healer guide that mentions the slap. i only respect healers that notice the melee auto attack. the best part of being a sch main was the book slap now i can actually do it open palm style.
The almighty healer auto is something too many people sleep on. I'm not saying it's a HUGE difference, but statistically, there has to have been at at least ONE 0.1% wipe in the game's history that might've been a clear with both healers autoing...
Thisguide really help me understand some things especially with how i use kerachole and physis.... with all my shields actually lol so ty for the guide.
I just came back to the game after a few years away last month, got sage to 90 and have cleared p9s on it twice, and had no idea physis boosted heals or that zoe boosted Pneuma...definitely going to put out Zoe BEFORE I heal after a raidwide now...I was always doing it after for no particular reason.
I have no idea what half the stuff you said is. However, have a like for the fun little popups you added to your video like the change of heart card lol
More than half of the SGE kit feels so bad to play in Alliance Raids. Throw on a panhaima for only one raid wide. Then, wait for the remaining 4 stacks to wear off so everyone gets a dummy thicc heal. Oh no, the other healer doesn't know how it works so they topped off the party.
This is definitely a problem in uncoordinated stuff... always feels bad as ANY healer to have some nice heals lined up only for it to be pointless. Tanks suffer from it too. My heart goes out to every DRK who wants to let their reworked Living Dead pop in a dungeon, only for a healer to start spamming Cure or something and throwing it all off.
great guide!! I've been using Sage ever since it came out, it's definitely challenging since you need to understand the bells and whistles and this healer is a complete different mindset from the other healers IMO, you need to prevent instead of react. SCHs can rely on the fairy/seraph for potent heals without even moving a finger, SGEs don't (not a complain tho), it's incredibly fun to play, and very satisfying to spam lots of Toxikons :3
It has a lot to learn going into it, you're totally right! Thankfully, I do think that difficulty flattens out once you understand the kit and you will just kind of naturally play proactively by following a set rhythm, especially after you feel out what kind of damage is coming your tank's way.
Personally, I'd like that either Kardia was % based instead of a flat potency, or buff Soteria so it heals as much as a Cure II when activated. It doesn't happen often, but whenever a tank is too squishy and I ran out of cds, I end up white mageing it because Kardia alone won't cut it, but because I stop dpsing altogether, Kardia's 'regen' stops too - It's a little inconvenient.
I play it on alliance raids, after I'm halfway comfortable with the encounters probably still doing lot of the stuff wrong. Wish I had more confidence since I kind of like Sage. ^^
Confidence comes from experience! No one picks up any job or role and is a master at it. If you like it, play it! The worst that happens is people die (virtually). They'll always stand back up! People tend to be very kind to beginner healers in this game, and either way, it's all about your fun, right? There's no real "winning" or "losing" in FF. Just play SGE and things will click, and you'll find your confidence MUCH faster than you expect! :D
Still don't understand any of your words xD But it might be cos I've never played a healer before in any game. I want to try but kinda terrified of it 😅 Good video though. I'm sure it's helpful to many people. :)
Experience is the best teacher! If you’re interested in healing, the best thing you can do is, well, heal. Don’t be discouraged if a few people die on your watch-they’ll come back to life, and you’ll learn a little more every time!
Role anxiety is a b*tch, but people in FF seem to be super nice, rarely one toxic comment 🤷🏻♀️ I was a main heal in WoW and it took me a while to try the damage roles as that was the most toxic *ss role over there. Now I’m a reaper main. Just do iiiiit~
Holy fuck I'm a genius, I had over 1 year break and noticed some very unwelcome changes made to my beloved Astro so I decided to try Sage isntead. I figured all of this on my own and just wanted to check some guide if maybe I do all of this wrong or I missed something, I did not 😎 Good vid!
Honestly, if you've played scholar, than you've mostly played sage. Just more charges for offensive skills with consideration on how you use you skills. I haven't put too much time into sage yet as scholar is my main healer. But as I'm looking to try other healers out, sage looks to be the next one aside from AST.
Looping back to the amazing sage guide, mostly with a question: Do you perhaps have a inbox, I encountered the most wonderful person (cough cough) while doing some sage leveling and I feel like you'd be amazed by the following party chat. So I wish to send you a picture of said party chat. had to blacklist someone for the first time playing ffxiv
LOL, sounds like a traumatic experience! We’ve had some good chats so far, so feel free to send me a DM on Twitter with the pic! :D That’s probably the best bet.
Could you elaborate more on eukrasian diagnosis/prognosis usage? I understand as GCD healing they should not be used frequently if possible, but if you are needing to use them (especially in dungeons/leveling) should you only use eukrasian diagnosis for the prepull? Yes, technically they can be used on-the-move but the overall cast time is similar and the mana expenditure/efficiency is actually worse (diagnosis is 450 potency/400 mana, eukrasian diagnosis is 300+525 potency/900 mana). I left out the critical shield potency since that seems to happen rarely for me.
Maybe the mana economy for non-eukrasia version is better, but do consider the GCD economy. Eukrasia diagnosis is almost double the healing than only 1 diagnosis, so what you would have needed 2 diagnosis to heal can only be done in 1 GCD. This not only let's you start DPS early (and by extend, healing with kardia) but it also might be the difference between surviving and whipping if the shit has hit the fan hard enough that you actually have to spam the thing, as you're healing more faster and normal diagnosis might not actually keep up or let you go back to a stable state where you can go back to DPSing. This also applies to the other healers. Cure 1 Benefic 1 and Physis should never be used if you have access to their upgraded version (cure 2, benefic 2 and adlo) unless things are SO BAD that there's a possibility you will run out of mana or you're doing MINE 50 content where some fights are really mean.
Luca's kind of already gone into it, but essentially, while Eukrasian Diagnosis may only have a cure potency of 300 compared to regular Diag's 450, it also has that 180% shield and is an instant cast. If it's come down to a GCD heal like that, you probably value that immediacy more than a delayed heal that is not even that much effectively stronger because it doesn't have the shield. Also, regarding the rarity of the crits-at endgame, you will probably be melding for crit because it's helpful for damage too. I have 2214 crit, which effectively translates (according to josephwebber.ca/samples/FFXIV_Crit_Calculator/) into a ~24% crit chance. Roughly 1 in 4 odds of landing a MASSIVE shield and a good heal is not bad at all, especially since it's all instant. Regular Diagnosis spam MIGHT be the answer if you have NO resources, minimal mana, and really need a period of consistent throughput rather than a big burst, but... those are all pretty extraordinary conditions, as damage in FFXIV tends to be bursty rather than steady anyway.
... I didn't even know you had to initiate auto attacks as caster. I was so heartbroken when I unlocked astro and it wouldn't do autos. I really wanted to see my lil lala slap things with his weird ass globe. Now I can finally make my dream come true.
Love your content! I got used to starting pulls with Krasis and then Physis and then Keracole, dunno if it's optimal or not, I like big regens I guess, keep up the good work!
Totally valid, Krasis is a great addition to that combo. For something Square calls a "shield" healer, Sage has some absolutely amazing regens. Thank you so much for the encouragement! :D
Thanks for the video, it is great and very helpful. Just some constructive advice, delivery is a bit too fast. There is no point trying to fit everything in 11 minutes if viewers have to rewind to imprint segments properly. Again, thank you!
Also for trash pulls, and this is a REALLY BIG IF IF your tank tolerates your shenanigans, you can e diag them, then yourself, then icarus right to the first pack about 1-2 seconds before the tank pulls them off you with AoE spam. Done right, you'll be walking to the next pack with barely any chip damage, and 2 free toxicons, instead of just the one from the diag you put on the tank
Kind of depends on the dungeon / tank mit, but typically with, not after. If the tank is actually taking 0 damage though, you could space it out some more!
You're definitely fighting an uphill battle... The old MMO healer days of zooming in on the floor and just looking at frames probably won't get you too far in the modern era LOL. Too much mechanics to see and solve! I probably don't have any knowledge that's new to you, but pruning battle effects, killing graphics, and maybe playing a LITTLE zoomed in are your only real options... Hopefully an upgrade comes your way eventually! :(
So much this! And I don’t know what the hell is going on with tanks lately that it seems they’re made like tissue paper, they don’t use any mitigation at all while I’m just eating all of my resources to keep them alive
@@AC-mp6xe you're so right I mean seriously when I pugged healed for tanks or when I pug party got a pug tank oh my gosh their paper dropped I mean their HP drop like they were tissue paper I was like what's going on your gun breaker that shouldn't be an issue and this was a 90 level dungeon and I went to inspect their armor they had full crafted 610 gear and I'm like are you kidding me? You have 610 gear in your HP is dropping like that no excuse
Very helpful thanks for min/maxin tf outta sage and presenting the gathered information short and on point, gg - coming back to the game after a long break before which I got sge to 90, been a sch main for years so looking forward to learning tha wae, cheers.
As Itadori from Jujutsu Kaisen once said..."I see! I don't get it...". Funny enough, I main Samurai and I couldn't even begin to name off the techniques, but I've just internalized what they do and how to use them xD
I just started playing this class and have already watched this guide, but when there are a lot of mobs, I can't keep the tank from dying. If there is a good tank in the party, then it works, but if there is a not very good one who does not use his defenses, I can't do it. Of course, it is possible because of the level, I am only 76 and it is difficult for me. I have always played healers, but in this case I am completely confused and feel stupid because it does not work. Based on the video and comments, you need to change the understanding of healing with him, but it is still difficult for me, I am so sad ...
WHM is indeed the simplest job in the game, but I’d argue SGE, while technically a little more complex, is ultimately the easier healer and effectively the easiest job period. SGE’s vast healing and mitigation library make it much better at turning around a failing party whereas WHM’s bare bones healing resources make it harder for a player to recover effectively. The only bar of entry is that SGE demands you learn how to weave healing between DPS, which is not hard, just something that many players don’t realize is how you’re meant to heal in this game.

Yeah the lack of oshit! buttons terrifies me. This job looks so fun though...
The problem is not the name, the problem is the stupid design of the action, like 90/100 of sage action are a blue thing on a blue background...

Really good tip, you're totally right-Krasis can be a great addition there! :D
Definitely learned a new thing here with the regen snapshot with Physis and Krasis, can’t wait to use them a bit more often in raids o7
ideally in trash pulls you should be starting with krasis before physis. you would buff your physis regen ticks, then once kera is up its buffed by both krasis and physis. that plus haima/panhaima and kardia is usually enough for most trash pulls at 90. dont sleep on krasis, as it has 60 second recast just like physis and thus can always be used once per trash pull since trash pulls generally take about 60 seconds each.

Informative, concise, hilarious, and you talk about good ways to combine actions in interesting ways. This is probably my favorite Sage guide
Thank you so much, that's genuinely such kind praise! :D
Sage isn't as hard as it looks, but what throws most people off I think is the fact that it starts at level 70 with so many similarly phrased abilities.
Great guide!
For sure, the flood of skills (and them all having Greek names) make up 90% of sage's challenge. Ty! :D
I might be in the minority but I feel like FF14 should have you start from lvl 1 on any jobs that are unlocked with new expansions. It would help people learn the job leveling from 1 instead of having 30 ability’s to learn at once
@@DeadlySwords8 I wish the game mentioned using Squad dungeons to learn classes, so starting at 16 IIRC
@@LeftyPencil wow. to be completely honest with you, i didn't even think of doing Squad dungeons.........great shoutout to learn new jobs

@@ArborusVitae true pop panhaima after 1person getshit my limit cute in p6s whill fully heal ur group when its resolved
That's so awesome to hear! :D I hope you keep enjoying it, Sage is tons of fun!
I had to play this at 75% speed. Slow down please.
Same haha
i cant believe this was posted the same day i decided to pick up sage .... thank u
Sage is weird! I tried to make it straightforward, but it wound up a full 5 minutes longer than my WHM video. The job IS easy, but it can take some experience in the field for things to click. I’m sure it’ll make sense if you do some content, even if it costs a few tanks their lives! :D
@@specstreTV so many blue buttons with incomprehensible names.. where are my regen (this gives u regen effects) and my cure (this heals) .......
A note about Rhizomata: if you use it when having 2 stcks of Addersgal, your timer towards the next stack will reset and stop, meaning that's lost time generated into a stack. This could potentially lead to a lost Addersgall if not propely managed.
Thus, ensure that you have only 1 (or 0!) stacks to avoid timer generation loss before using Rhizomata.
heh finally first
EDIT: video WATCHED, your videos just keep getting better and better! i know this is specifically a sage video, but this also has a lot of transferrable knowledge for other healers. for me personally, i always struggled with cycling CDs and this helped me understand that a lot more! very in-depth guide, yet easy to follow. keep up the good work and i'm looking forward to the next video

Very nice video, you are definitely the up and coming ff14 UA-camr.

I love coming back to this video when I've had a long break from ff and need to brush up on my spells. You're a legend!
I am going to pick this job because I'm about to be a nurse irl and these medical sounding spells resonate with me and it doesn't look boring
Good stuff! Just started my sage journey… also a piece of string is twice the distance from the middle … l=2 by x…. Where x is distance from centre ;)
This is something I try to do on every healer- try to identify the use case for each skill and put the analogous skills on the same bonds.
Very helpful! I just got sage yesterday and needed help 😂
I had to slow down the video to .75 because it was going to fast for me to gather all these information.
Other than that very very helpful thank you so much!
I'm starting Sage, and it has always confused me. I'm so glad I found your vid. You broke it down really well and explained what works in what situation. I'm still a bit nervous, but willing to try this out.
This is the best sage guide I've seen so far, quick and to the point i LOVE ITTT TY
Learned a lot of stuff to make my life easier. I was surprised to see combo krasis+phisis during thrash pulls never be mentioned tho. Their cooldowns are both 60s so they're my go to when the tank stops and allows me to focus on dps only yeeting a taurochole midway the fight
Yeah, Krasis is an excellent addition to that combo! :D
The other day I got invited to a party in Thavnair where me and a couple of randoms ran fates together and I ran together with a dancer and summoner and it was just super smooth along with no fatalities on my watch (I don’t think the enemies agree there though)
I now consider myself a Sage main and I intend on learning it enough to run more than just daily roulettes on it. FC has Bozja planned and I shall be healing there (by choice)
I am however pretty stuck with Eukrasian diagnosis and the AoE version of it, along with physis, kerachole and ixo, maybe because in most content I have been running this far, I just don’t have access to the fancy stuff like haima or panhaima etc due to level sync.
I can link these together, then when they're up, use ANOTHER big impact and small impact together after."
Trust me, when you get into some later dungeons especially, you'll start to adapt!
First time ever that I had to slow a video down to 0.75 speed so I can listen to it at normal pace :D
Awesome video though, you covered everything I was wondering about the sage.
Entirely not awake enough to get all that , that fast, but I got it. Cheers Pal
Thank you!! :D If you take Sage for a spin, things will naturally just slot into place with or without a helping hand from some caffeine.

You've absolutely got this! :D

It's so sad Zodiark died of Phlegma
Not gonna lie, i was struggling with sage, this guide is helping me out a ton
righteous, glad it helped! :D
great guide!!
@@specstreTV exactly! it's a very fun job :3

This is an excellent video. Quality content well done. Shared with my friends as well. Thank you, it's helped a lot
Thank you so much!! Huge appreciation and I'm glad to hear it! :D Love the champie Jinx icon, btw.
I will have to listen to this video a few times to archive all this information xD
Still don't understand any of your words xD But it might be cos I've never played a healer before in any game. I want to try but kinda terrified of it 😅 Good video though. I'm sure it's helpful to many people. :)
Relax, healing in FF is piss easy.
@@GoatOfWar depends on how dumb your team is

Funny enough when sage came out. It just kinda clicked with me. I figured it out fairly quickly.

Great video but man I had to watch slowed down. You were talking really fast at some points

"Sage is easy!" *proceeds to explain a PhD Thesis in Neuroscience* XD
Thanks for the video, it is great and very helpful. Just some constructive advice, delivery is a bit too fast. There is no point trying to fit everything in 11 minutes if viewers have to rewind to imprint segments properly. Again, thank you!
Also for trash pulls, and this is a REALLY BIG IF
IF your tank tolerates your shenanigans, you can e diag them, then yourself, then icarus right to the first pack about 1-2 seconds before the tank pulls them off you with AoE spam. Done right, you'll be walking to the next pack with barely any chip damage, and 2 free toxicons, instead of just the one from the diag you put on the tank
Do you use haima right after physis and kerachole run out
or
are you suppose to use haima along with physis and kerachole then use terachole?
Kind of depends on the dungeon / tank mit, but typically with, not after. If the tank is actually taking 0 damage though, you could space it out some more!
@@specstreTV thank you sir
This guide was amazing! Thank you ❤
Any tips for healing on a craptop? I average 10-15fps in ffxiv ; ; same question with tanking
That if you assume the tanks your with use their mitigation which 99% of the time they don't
This is harder than I thought. Guess I am stuck going back to whm or sch.
Very helpful thanks for min/maxin tf outta sage and presenting the gathered information short and on point, gg - coming back to the game after a long break before which I got sge to 90, been a sch main for years so looking forward to learning tha wae, cheers.
glad it helped, and ty for the support :)
Phlegma, seriously? We're more mature than that. Zoe-gma balls.
Great vid.
What is wrong with just a little pause after a sentence?
I was going to say something about this as well. It’s an awesome guy but he needs to slow down.
Me who has played mainly White Mage and Scholar seeing how complicated sage looks: *Internal screaming*
As Itadori from Jujutsu Kaisen once said..."I see! I don't get it...". Funny enough, I main Samurai and I couldn't even begin to name off the techniques, but I've just internalized what they do and how to use them xD
Amazing video man
What's the point of the Cancel Eukrasia macro? If you accidentally pressed it, then just keep it and cast whichever spell you were going to cast.
Welp, Imma remember about 5% of that when I actually try doing Sage things, but we'll see how it goes...
