I want to apologize, as I incorrectly credited Kane Hodder as Leatherface in Part 3. He was actually portrayed by R.A. Mihailoff. Kane was only him in the promotional material and for stunt work.
Also, John Duggan who played grandpa in the original was the cop talking to Renee Zellweger, and the orderly pushing Marilyn Burns was the actor that played Franklin, Paul Partain.
BEST HORROR RETROSPECTIVE CHANNEL ON THE PLATFORM 🔥
Ryan your one of the few people i want to see succeed. Nice job on the video
upon my 5th rewatch of this retrospective, I just want to say 1. I have absolutely no problem liking and commenting on any of your posts because I know to keep this series going you need engagement and I am happy to help and 2. I think for the next retrospective you might want to cover the Saw Franchise, as there is many movies, almost all of which are happening at the same time or years apart and again even during each other so I think you’ll have a fun time trying to put everything cohesively on the timeline board. Lastly I think it might be time to give Shnoz a friend up there
Also the the Ryan Character in the 3D movie is played by R&B Artist Trey Songz !!
Hell yeah. Can't wait for this. If you can get through this franchise, i know you can get through Hellraiser. But I'll watch any retrospective you make honestly.
the TCM3 trailer is inspired by the myth: "The Lady of the Lake, also known as Viviane or Nimuë, is an enchantress who lives in a castle beneath a lake surrounding the island of Avalon. According to legend, she is most famous for giving Arthur the magical sword Excalibur, for fostering Sir Lancelot after his father's death and for imprisoning Merlin in a tree.". So the silver Chainsaw is referring to the Excalibur Sword, which is awesome. Also, it should have been a scene that appeared in Army of Darkness. It would have been perfect.
I get a retrospective notification, I sit impatiently waiting hahahahaa
Fun fact: I have a gnome-esque Leatherface statue signed by all of Ice Nine and i love it
These are the uploads I look forward to the most across all of youtube cheers ryan 🎉
Imma have to binge the entire franchise so I can watch this vid haha
Will you be watching the premiere with us Ryan ?
I’m so pumped
Absolutely!
Great Retrospective man, love Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Keep up the good work ❤
Wild that the original Texas Chainsaw and Black Christmas came out the same day. October 11th 1974 should be remembered as an event for horror history for years to come.
5 glorious hours!! Not the biggest TCM fan but love these retrospective videos
Thank you for making these videos.
Thank you for taking the time to make these retrospectives!
Love it every time you release a new retrospective video! Keep up the awesome work ! :)
Thank you!
These videos are so good! Would love to see one on the hills have eyes series!
Hey man this was the most fun retrospective ever, "an idyllic spring movie marathon became a nightmare"
Felt like hanging out and we were communicating 😂
Hope you do another fun one ❤
I can't wait to see this !!!! It's one of the best series on YT keep it up, Ryan !!
My body is so ready
The Timeline bit was as magical as I anticipated, great work as always dude.
I was eager to hear your opinion on some of these because they're wild, even for campy horror fans. Needless to say, another excellent video with great commentary and scene selection.
Behelit-earning, banana-aching work.
Great Retrospective… I love these… in all fairness, you watched some of this crap so I wouldn’t have to. Thank you for taking one for the team.
I love these really long retrospectives! Great work, especially your nightmare video. I’d love to see a video of all of rob zombies films- just an idea. Thanks for all your hard work! 😊
Love it been waiting on this video, keep em up!
Always enjoy your retrospectives. Escpecially all the extra information you add like the stuff outside of the main movies.
Love your stuff. Keep it coming.
Great 👌 I adore your long retrospectives ! They are so entertaining 😁
My favorite horror franchise I CAN'T WAIT!!
You're the greatest retrospective youtuber and I can't believe how much detail you always go into! Thank you for everything 💚
I love watching your retrospective videos.
Great video man
Great work as always! A suggestion for a manageable franchise would be Fright Night. There are 2 ogs, the remake, and some weird sequel to it I've never seen. The history of the original OG part 2 interesting. The film is in a strange distribution prison relat6ed to the Menendez Brothers' murder of the nineties. Should ,make for a great subject.
Yo super good video man love them!!!🤟🤟🤟
This video is so good! Could you possibly think about doing the SAW franchise retrospective?
Awesome review, man!!
Your videos never cease to be a pleasure to watch! Keep it up from a fellow Ryan
Great video as always
Love your videos and I am so glad you covered this series!Chop top is one of my favorite characters in horror and I hope you have a good day 👍
You rock dude. Keep them coming. From one horror fan to another. I’ll be watching.
Strange how there's so much good media involving chainsaws. There's Texas Chainsaw, Chainsaw Man, and of course our glorious final girl, Ashley J. Williams!
Don't forget about lollipop chainsaw and Hoss Delgado from The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy (Ashley Williams and Snake Plissken was the inspiration for his design)
Another great retrospective! I know you've said about the japanese copyright, but you should do a Ju On or The Ring retrospective sometime.
Great work Ryan , looking forward to your scream and leprechaun ones ,, if ever get the chance would love to see videos on the purge series and wrong turn franchise and final destination also , keep up the good work ....ps more gta game play streams would be bad ass to
Love your horror retrospectives man like I said they should get with you for special features on releases
every time I see a new one of these horror retrospectives, I get so excited. And everytime I watch them I get more and more certain that you would fit right into my friend group xD No wonder I like these videos so much.
Love the content
good video!
One thing that Texas Chainsaw 3D did to 'adjust' the timeline was hide dates in a lot of the materials like papers, worn/hidden tombstone pieces - things like that. I saw it in the theater and loved it :)
I love all of these retrospectives
These horror retrospectives have been peak can’t wait to watch this
Not even a horror fan, but i enjoy these retrospectives and learn a lot about popular franchises
Banger retrospective which was expected. My favorite TCM movie is Part 2 I love that crazy gonzo mess of a film. I suggest do a retro on the Jaws franchise. The summer is coming it’s only 4 movies could make for a fun vid
Thank you for this retrospective. The 74 TCM has been my favorite for at least thirty years. I’ve seen six of these nine movies, and never took the time to piece together their continuity - and now know to not bother with the ones I’ve missed.
There are five Phantasm movies, and they’re not all garbage. Also the same continuity. Would love your thoughts on those.
Dude I Love your Retrospective videos would you do one on the Saw Franchise!!
I love your videos man, can’t wait to see your account take off! I will say though, I don’t think the original was intending to put a spotlight on the “animalistic” nature of rural communities. Rather, showcasing rural people assaulting urban people in the same ways they do them (think of the fuel crisis going on at the time of release, the war, general feelings of hostility/stereotyping of urban people by rural people that’s still prevalent to this day). Carol Clover describes this duality/message much better than I can in her book, so please check that out, but she argues Texas Chainsaw plays on the same idea The Hills Have Eyes did in regard to violence against urban people being perpetrated by the rural. But that’s the best thing about horror and film in general, it’s all subjective! Just giving you another POV :)). Keep up the good work!!
“No, he had a chainsaw. He was chasing me with a chainsaw.” Delivered as if she saw a bird wearing a hat
Plz cover the Puppet Master Franchise!, great video. Keep up the good work!
Please please do puppet master bro!
perfect way to spend a cloudy crappy day, listening to another awesome retrospective from Ryan! TCM4 still rocks! lol
Wow, you didn't even mention that Benny fought. Michael in Rob zombie's Halloween. Michaels jumpsuitis Benny's from the bathroom brawl.
I recreated some scenes from the first TCM for my final photography project at uni. One of the shots I wanted was Sally running from Leatherface. I had my cousin as Sally with my uncle as Leatherface. My uncle looked the part. We hand made a mask from old Halloween masks cut into pieces and stitched together and then painted to look like leathery flesh. He had a real chainsaw. The shot I was going for was him chasing her down this country lane. As close to Texas as I could find in Northern England. We took about twenty shots with my cousin pissing herself laughing every time. She looked kind of afraid but you could always still see the inkling of a smile. My uncle pulled me to one side and said “I’ve got one more go in me. This has to be the shot.” He then said “I’ve got an idea” as my cousin started running my uncle fired up the saw and it roared to life as he ambled down the lane my cousins face went from laughing to real terror. Great shot in the end.
Alright bro, I watched your Chucky one. And now I see this?? I’m subbing for more xD
I saw Texas Chainsaw 3D in theatres, and I SWEAR I remember seeing a shot where they go by the same house they used for the Hewitt House
2 is S teir you savage! Great vid.
Bro, you keep my horror hype alove with these retrospectives. Dog will hunt!
Thanks!
Thank you so much! 🙏
This is my comment for the algorithm because you deserve it my man 😘
I love these vids you should do scream next
Dude we are all begging you to do Puppet Master! Pretty pretty please. Full Moon movies are the greatest. HOWEVER...Lloyd Kaufman is my spirit animal.
Its not really a short series, so it probably wouldnt fit in between now and the Living Dead series, but Wrong Turn could be a fun, dumb series to cover one day.
Great video, btw!
Cant believe i missed the premiere 😩😩😩
Correction: Jim Siedow is NOT the only retrnong actor in TCM2. Ed Guinn, the truck driver from Part 1, is a "cook-off judge", ringing the bell right in the scne when Siedow makes his first appearance. Also: that random girl in TCM 3is also seen in the very beginning of TCM3 when Leatherface kilsl a girl and makes a mask out of her face. the "random girl" is watching from outside and is meant to be her sister. About the way Michelle kills Leatherace That is a callback to the scene when she wants to kill the amadilla that they ran over earlier in the movie, she wants o bash it with a rock and says "Sorry little guy" but is not able to to it (so Ryan steps in). when beating Leatherface she screams "sorry little guy" ... meaning ahe overcome her hesistations. About the "nurse talking to Jenny" at the end of 4: That is not a nurse but a cop. That cop was nt played by Pul A- Artai (Franklin) but John Dugan, who was Grampa in Part 1. Paul Partain was the orderly who pushed the gurney that "anonymoius" was laying on
Aeesome video
My favorites are 1,Remake,3 and 2. For some reason I really love the 3rd movie. Not sure why, just something about that one. Great video by the way. Always love a good retrospective video of any of the long running horror franchises.
Thanks. I found out that the odd symbol the hitchhiker scrawls on the van is also on the back of grandpa's chair! (it's not seen in the movie) ❤
Ryan, thank you so much for your amazing content, god bless
2:40:36 that song is on my drive home from work playlist, I can’t not hear “Texas chainsaw maths degree!”
I’ve been laughing at the clip from Texas Chainsaw Manicure for the past 24 hours 🤣
I think that wacky trailer with the chainsaw coming out the water is supposed to be a reference to King Arthur and the lady of the lake.
U should do hellraiser next! I love these reviews!
Ps Alexandra dodarioo tho damn
This franchise is titled "Massacre à la tronçonneuse" (Chainsaw Massacre) in my country, probably because people outside of the USA wouldn't care if it takes place in Texas, as it undermines the potential danger. So they changed it to make it more universal, so you can easily imagine it can take place in the countryside nearby your house.
Tempted to take back my like after you put 2022 above TCM 2.
At one point, he apologizes for this not being as "in depth" as it could be. It's 5 hours long......amazing!
30:35 also, that one episode of Spaced that also uses that sound.
Rewatching :) scream and Texas chainsaw massacre are my fave franchises. I hope you do scream soon.
Can't wait for scream retrospective
Did you mention Butcher Boys? If so I missed it. Kim Henkel's take on a continuance. Definitely different. Great retrospective. New sub.🎃
Obligatory comment for the algorithm for the best retrospective channel on UA-cam!
If you ever do a retrospective for the Predator franchise, I highly recommend the 2010 Alien vs Predator game by Rebellion. It has a single player and a campaign for the hunans, xenomorphs and predators.
Hell ya Ryan!
I was 3 when the 2003 remake came out and I don't remember life without it. I watched it a lot as a tiny child. I was10 when I saw The Beginning and then the original. Part 2 was next maybe 11 idk. But Texas Chainsaw 3D I saw when it came out. 3&4 I saw the next year at 14. After that I haven't missed one.
Lääz Rockit has a song called Leatherface as well, which is an absolute gem/underrated classic.
Great to see Mortician mentioned here as well. The spoken word intro isn’t a mimick, but just an actual rip/sample of the Texas Chainsaw 2 intro. They do a lot of horror movie samples.
Kane Hodder was only
in TCM 3 Trailer as Leatherface .R. A. Mihailoff played Leatherface in the movie.
Also, if you like the 2003 remake, then I very much recommend Wolf Creek. The main villain delivers an absolutely terrifying performance
About the trailer of the 3rd movie, I think it's a reference of the Lady of the Lake in Arthurian legends with her connection to Excalibur. 😊
Ken Foree is a Devil's Reject that fought Leatherface and Michael Myers what a legend.
They should've let Adam Marcus set the movie when Jason Goes to Hell came out. But my favorite scene is when Marvin is on a video call with Burt and he accidentally shoots Nikki. I die laughing every time "It's okay! It didn't happen!"
I grew up in Texas with these movies, scared the poop out of me as a kid, but as far as the timeline...don't worry, it confuses alot more of us than you think. Also, yay for living in PA! Same my dude! BTW, keep doing these, I love your retrospectives!
Dont have time to watch today but still wanted to comment for that sweet algorithm buzz
Id be interested in seeing the george romero zombie retrospective
1:37:43 “Its better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all”, Lookin asss.
