You do such a great job of explaining and showing close-up what you’re talking about. You gave just the right amount of information. Very professional finish on the pieces you do and very professional videos.
The finish you added does not just revise it, but allows more of the natural beauty of the wood to shine through. The paint wash was a perfect way to blend the different wood tones. So often a heavy factory finish, so common on these pieces, is replicated with new darker stains to disguise the differences. Thanks for not repeating that flawed solution.
thank you 😭 I was so honored to get to work on such an elegant, well-made piece. And it was so fun to step back when it was done and see the transformation 🥰

Just came across your channel. Your great at explaining what you do, with great tips. New subscriber. 😀 Love this dresser now and also loved the warmth of the original colour. Couldn’t go wrong with such a beautiful piece to start with. Greetings from Ireland. 😀🇮🇪
Greetings from Florida 😍 Thanks for watching! Yes I loved the original color too actually. But when I stripped away the old finish and saw the lighter wood I liked that even more.
I love the natural wood look you created with the paint wash! I recently acquired a heywood wakefield sculptura dresser and am thinking about this same look!!
YESSSS on not removing doors!! What in the world?! Why?!!! Do they not go back right. Uuggghh. Plus, you can finish both sides at once. 😉 Just found your channel. I appreciate your calm, casual manner. 😊
I’ve wasted HOURS trying to rehang cabinet doors 🙃 Plus my shop floor is sloped so that always causes problems getting them straight and even. Thanks for subscribing!!
Agreed. Warner natural tones always look nicer than the artificial ones that’s for sure. Now it’s the trend to change it into something unnatural, it won’t last.
Its a stunner.I fully agree ,with just sanding it down first.I would then finish it of to as " flat" and as natural as possible. No dark ,tinted stain ,no glossy varnish.Sometimes a light tan " wash, makes all the difference.
OMGosh, I just found you!! Loved watching this transformation! Awesome job, and thanks for all the tips along the way! I do love the natural wood look!
I used Varathane and Minwax brands for awhile. Then I tried the Gen Finishes, and I didn’t want to like it because it’s more expensive 🤣 But it dries faster, smoother, and the finish has a stronger feel to it. Also. I noticed it doesn’t alter the color of the piece as much as other brands do.
Thank you! The dresser sold for $999. And honestly if I ever come across another one, I may charge a bit more purely because it was a TON of work and time. There are no shortcuts to a project like this 😅
@@rescuedbyamy no doubt. I was a little jealous (in a good way) I’m going to go check out Andersons this weekend. I didn’t know about it b4 your video. I live in Lakeland and can use a nice wood browsing break!
I am in search of a sprayer. Can you send me info on the one you use? Another question, how many times do you have to refill it while finishing a piece.
Hello! I use a Fuji Minimite 4, it’s an HVLP sprayer, it comes with its own turbine so you don’t need an air compressor. The quality and consistency of the spray pattern is excellent. There’s a link to it in my bio. I also use a disposable cup system that holds 22 ounces of paint, I do have to refill it between coats if I’m doing a big 3 or 4 piece furniture set. But for just a single piece the 22 ounces is usually enough. I hope that helps!!
This is a piece that would look good in light, medium, or dark. I love the light natural wood color and you did a meticulous job... beautiful ❣️❣️
Thank you so much! 😊 it is one of my all-time fav’s.
I'm in love. That is stunning. Like how you used the paint wash to match the woods
I LOVE the natural wood look, and this dresser is so gorgeous! I’m sure the couple who purchased it is loving it. Great job, Amy!
Thank you!! I often marvel at how pretty raw wood is, it’s nice to let it be 😊

Thank you! And that is so well explained! 👏👏👏
This is beautiful. I know it is a matter of personal taste and some may not like it, but I think you did a very nice job.
Thank you so much! And yes everyone has different viewpoints and opinions, but that’s what makes life so interesting!
WOW! Amy love this piece! You were so gentle with this piece, it is like a restoration. More than just a refinish! I can see why it sold so fast! B~}

I'm not a fan of paint wash, but you knock this one out of the ballpark!! It looks fantastic 😍
Thank you! I wasn’t a fan of paint wash either until I got the hang of it 🤣
Beautiful!!! The light color just suits this piece.
Yes I agree! Especially with the brass hardware 😍 Thanks for watching!
I like the lighter look! Gorgeous! 🦋
That piece turned out beautifully. You did a great job! Love it!
Thank you so much! It really is a beautiful piece, just needed an update. 🥰
I love the natural wood look you created with the paint wash! I recently acquired a heywood wakefield sculptura dresser and am thinking about this same look!!
Thank you so much 😊 HW used some beautiful maple in their furniture, it would be beautiful to see it in a natural/raw look!!

I gotta be honest I think the original color looked a lot nicer.
Fair enough 🙂 I’ve refinished several vintage pieces in the darker stain and they turned out beautiful. Walnut especially is gorgeous in a dark stain.
Agreed. Warner natural tones always look nicer than the artificial ones that’s for sure. Now it’s the trend to change it into something unnatural, it won’t last.
I don’t think lighter wood looks unnatural at all. If anything, to me, it looks more natural. Wood isn’t naturally dark brown.

I just subscribed! Watching from Gr. This is the best light washed piece of furniture I have ever seen. GORGEOUS! Thanks so much for sharing
😭 Thank you so much!! It was already a gorgeous piece, but giving it a lighter more natural color was definitely the way to go.

I think this is absolutely stunning!! ❤
I’m a little biased, but I think so too 🥹
This piece looks great. Love the light natural wood color. Looks amazing.
Thanks so much! It’s a different kind of elegant now 😊
Wow, soooo pretty! That look is really trending right now. I don't blame you for wanting to keep it, lol. I would too! ;)

Love ❤️ the hardware! I love the paint wash.
Do you share pricing?
Thank you! I sold this one for $1K, although in hindsight I may have priced to too low. But it went to a wonderful couple and I’m very happy for them.
Beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
Love the light finish!
Thank you, me too 🥰

I love the finished look
Thank you! It was a joy to work on it 😊
I know that dresser! I love it!
Why are you such a fan of the Gen Finishes top coat as opposed to a mainstream brand?

Thank you for not painting it. You did a lovely job.
Truly my pleasure 😊
I have stopped watching furniture makeovers because they are 95% white/ beige. Not a fan.
Yea this wasn’t your cup of tea then. Sorry 😕
