I always thought when someone calls you an "old soul" that it doesn't mean you act literally like an old person. I thought it meant that you sort of skipped all the wacky phases young people go through and are just really wise for your age.

Old soul means you have a vision of what you're going to do in life, you don't feel the need for education since you naturally know what you need to have, and you're not interested in materialistic things, only experiences and friendships.

I'm glad to say I'm a time keeper. I'm both an old soul and a young soul. Young soul because I like future bass and modern pop music, enjoys a night-out with friends, do risky things, Old because I also like classical songs, old lo-fi music, likes the rain, don't like the crowd (usually because I feel more left out) , Likes to sketch and write some poetry.

This is not being an old soul. I personally have been told I am an old soul by every adult I've met. In some sense, this is true. We usually pass on reckless behavior and are observational people. We don't lock our selves in our rooms with signs or stick to a rigid routine. We enjoy life, simple and complicated. We can make friends with those both young and old (My youngest friend is 7 & my oldest is 74. Neither are related to me) and we allow life to take us by the horns, not us take life by the horns. Each day is a gift, which is why it is called the present. That's being an old soul.

They confused being an old soul with pessimism and being an introvert. I consider having an old soul based on intensity of open-mindedness and ability to enjoy the unnoticed in life. I have houseplants, I have a record player, I don't enjoy alcohol, half of my music idols are dead (RIP Prince). I find myself giving life advice to people who are older than me, and when I'm in a the right mood I can read up to 3 books in a month, but most of my time I enjoy doing lots of online research and discovering new scientific discoveries and new vegan recipes to try. However, I don't read the paper, but I use to read the funnies with my grandfather when i was young :>

I so relate to this. I mostly listen to classical music, jazz of 40-70's, wear smart trousers and sweaters and prefer quiet times to night clubs. I feel so alone in this and sometimes as a creep. I am only 25 and like this for quite some time.
