As usual- a beautiful painting. I agree there are a lot of floral watercolor artists on UA-cam, but there is only one Paul Clark floral watercolor artist! Your tutorials and paintings are distinct. Thank you for doing a floral for us
Thank you! So much of the floral painting on UA-cam is more in the nature of craft, not painterly art, and rather formulaic. This beautiful painting of a wild rose is truly artistic.
This was a fantastic tutorial, Paul! It was so much fun and I felt so free! I went wild with the wild rose! Thank you so much for being such a great teacher! And no, I don't think there is a better floral teacher. So much of what we love about your tutorials, no matter the subject, is you. Your voice, your gentle way of teaching, your infinite patience.
Your florals are beautiful! There may be a lot of floral tutorials, but your style is unique & wonderful. You have a lot to add to the mix.❤ Thank you!
I really enjoyed this gentle, simple and beautiful painting! It suited my mood this evening, as I lost my brave artistic mother on Monday. I want to thank you Paul, for the great pleasure and inspiration you gave a dyed in the wool watercolourist! While stuck in the hospital, watching Watercolour Wednesday on my tablet, was the only real enjoyment she had and for that, I thank you!!👍😊
What a lovely introduction! I can't wait to paint, but first, I must say how stunning your garden is and how fortunate you are to be surrounded by farms where you can actually walk around and enjoy the countryside! Just like in Belgium and probably in many European countries. I miss being able to walk around safely and happily in the countryside as I did in Belgium. Here in the US there are: "Private: No trespassing" signs everywhere. No countryside, that I know of, is free to roam as long as you do not destroy anything or leave trash. Plus there is always the fear of being shot at. You live in paradise!! Now on to delving into beautiful wild roses! Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! I haven't painted many florals so it will be fun!
Gee Annette - I don't know where you are in the USA, but where I live in California's Central Valley, there are many walking paths, and as a native Californian, I don't worry about being shot. I wish you happiness and safety wherever you are!
Beautiful countryside. 'I don't paint flowers'😅Lovely floral watercolour Wednesday. Thank you. I try to get the spattering effect you get so effortlessly by practicing on newspapers but not much success. The loose background is amazing.
Yes, there are an abundance of flower paintings, as so many enjoy something colorful that is a forgiving subject in the area of rendering. But I actually watched this to see how you used the multiple values of green as a BG. This can be used for other subjects, such as animals in the wild. The combo of hard and soft edges and values really elevates this. It reminds me of Rembrandt's "windmill principle" which I should attempt to implement more often.
Good evening dear Paul. Thank you for another great tutorial and also for this lovely painting. The table salt method is makes a painting perfect. I also love those lovely farm scenes in the beginning. They can really inspire someone to paint.
Loved it absolutely. 💖 Also you have such a beautiful yard Paul and surroundings. Such beautiful roses growing in your yard. We can't grow tea or floribunda roses here due to our weather. I do plant them in large pots . I find flowers sooo pretty to paint. Thank-you for all your tips. And for taking us on your lovely excursion around the fields. Sigh..just heavenly I also forgot to mention in your last video, that your previous work you shared with us was so so beautiful. There is a calming affect in your art work. It's beautiful. Wish I can paint like that one day. 🥰 Take care Paul and have a wonderful week with Margo. 💖 Till next week. 🎉🎉🎉
Hi Paul what's up with us artists. I notice so many of us love living close to nature. I'm on 5 acres surrounded by horses, donkeys an lots of dogs. I always found flowers the hardest thing to paint maybe cause I rather paint other things. Btw that hard cider looked delicious. Thanks for the great demo. Karel from Florida here.
I did also learn your approach and techniques on backgrounds for florals, which I struggle with at times. But I love your techniques on waterfalls and ocean landscapes.
Thank you so much Paul , you never let us down on this much anticipated Watercolor Wednesday! You brought up a good question in this tutorial , when and where do you decide to leave a soft edge ?!? I also wanted to comment on how good your audio sounds and your music selections always sound so good through my ear buds, the music always gets my brushes moving and the paint flowing ! Thank you Paul and many blessings to you and Margot !
Thanks for that Gretchen, glad you like the music too ... I do get the odd negative comment about the music, so it's always good to hear some enjoy it! ... soft edges, just experience in knowing what look good I guess! ... no real formula!
I love how you "chuck" paint on Paul! For someone who says they don't "do" flowers, you made a spectacular job! The wild rose was a great choice. Need to get my paint out.
made my heart sing ♥ Love everything about this about this painting Paul. There may be artists and artists but there is only one Paul. You simplified the process and made it look easy and doable. Will Try this certainly. So inspirational ♥ love from India more florals please
From the moment the guitar began playing, I teared up! Your music with your art have quite a lovely effect on me! Beautiful countryside!!! Thank you for sharing each step ... just wonderful! 😊❤🎉 Til next Watercolour Wednesday, have a great week! From the O. C. Gramma ❤
Thank you Paul for sharing your expertise in watercolour painting. You give precise info and show every brush stroke! That makes it look so easy, but takes a lot of practise to accomplish. I'm from Johannesburg, South Africa and only discovered you more than a month ago. Your tutorials helps me a lot to 'get into' watercolour painting. My daughter is an accomplished botanical watercolourist, but that is too perfectionist for me. You cover just about any subject and helps me find my niche.
I love flowers, thanks for painting that. You live in a gorgeous area. I love that greenhouse and that spectacular view. What a blessed man you are in so many ways.
Wonderful tutorial as usual. You are a great teacher Paul and as a teacher myself I greatly appreciate how much you let your students engage. I am not a floral painter and I enjoy doing your landscapes and architecture a great deal. They have improved my skills so much. But I am going to try this because you made it so enjoyable. Probably going to muck it up but what the heck
Wow...wow...wow... another great tutorial. I love florals and was so happy when you said you were going to paint a floral. Yes, there are lots of other Artists that paint florals but your tutorials are always so much easier to follow and you teach in a way that it makes me feel that I can achieve something. I've had a few months break from painting because of a number of reasons but started watching your tutorials again today to get inspired again. You didn't fail. Your work is amazing and your tutorials are great. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us.
Your tutorials are always informative and fun. I also like your T-shirts for each tutorial. I definitely enjoy your "classes" and the "loose background" was especially nice. Your "messes" are far and above mine...HA! Thank you.
Hello Paul! I just wanted to let you know that I've been watching your videos and learning so much! You inspire me to loosen up and have fun with my watercolour painting! I also have your book and it has been extremely helpful in my journey of learning watercolours. Thank you for all the hard work you put into making and sharing your videos!
So beautiful! I love your background, the all thing too.I always struggle with backgrounds .Your painting is always nicer than the original! Thank you for sharing! You should sell your brushes in the USA. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful art.❤
I love this one! I've been painting some floral just for a break from landscapes. Wild roses remind me of walking up the lane way at my Grandparent's home on the bay of Funday in Nova Scotia. I always loved the smell of them.
What a beautiful painting Paul as usual! I'm going to give this a try. Thankyou so much for all you do for amateur artists like me. I'm so appreciative. 😊
With every tutorial, with every brush stroke, your benevolence of knowledge allows me to be who I'm going to be as an artist. I work really hard to answer your tutorials with a genuine effort, but aside from the tutorials I am becoming more free to express my own vision. I can do this because you have informed me with skills that carry over. This is golden. I appreciate you very much.
I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Our provincial flower is the Wild Rose. Alberta is referred to as Wild Rose country. I love your describing words that you use while you are painting.
I don't paint flowers, I usually pphotograph them, or paint them on buckets etc, but I can't wait to try this. You make the flower thing look so tasteful, in a sea of flower paintings on the net.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to you again Paul. It's been a long time since I sat long enough to do so. A glass of dandelion and burdock while I wait for a short wash cycle gave me long enough to relax, unwind and as always Pick up the odd tip to hopefully improve my efforts. ❤
I have learned a lot watching your you tube videos. Your colours and style are wonderful.(this is the first time I have ever commented on you tube.) Thank you. Joan.

Ahh, that's so nice of you to say ... many thanks!
I agree! I’ve tried to watch other people but yours are the best!
You are an amazing artist. Very much doubt that there is any subject that you can't paint. This is awesome. Thank you for sharing.
Oh, yes, plenty of subjects I can't paint!
I grew up in rural Connecticut and there were wild roses everywhere. Thanks for the beautiful painting and the wonderful memories it conjured up.
Those little buttercups!!! Aren't they just as beautiful!? ❤
Yes indeed ... perhaps next time!
I so appreciate you as a teacher and role model. Thank you Paul Clark.
Great hear - thanks!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Yes Paul brings sunshine to so many. God bless
Hi Charlotte, so sorry to hear your news and humbled to know that I helped in some small way - take care.
Very sorry for your loss.
Thank you, Paul. Just adore your garden and location. How fortunate you are. Flower painting is lovely inspiration too. 💚💛🧡💙

By far one of my favourite watercolour artists on UA-cam and I don't care who knows it, 😊👍🏾
Ahhh, very kind .... BIG thanks!

Well said! - great comment and thanks for sharing!
It is so interesting how a simply floral becomes a statement of the artist's style. I really enjoyed this tutorial.
Thank you so much!
So different and so lovely, thank you Paul, please do more!
Thank you! Will do!

that was fantastic - I love it that uou said you paint ahead of time to warm up. I have never seen a flower painting more beautiful.

I enjoy watching your tutorials. I'm always inspired. Such beautiful wild roses. Thank you, Paul.
So nice of you
Brilliant! This is what only watercolor can do. Stained glass like paint, colors flow and mix beautifully on the paper by themselves 🌸
Thank you so much 😀
Not when I use them they don't!
Lovely wild flower! The color...beautiful! I love flowers, always. Thank you for the painting tutorial.
