Disco Sally. 78 years old, new widow, wandering the streets of NYC aimless. She came upon Studio 54 & showed everyone what it means to have the spirit of someone 24. She married her "Greek God". She wouldn't play the role of sad old widow as was expected of her. She died in 1982. They wouldn't play disco at her funeral. A young spirit isn't for everyone. Unless you're dancing. Dance on Sally, wherever you are. Do a dance for Sally, alone or at a party. Dance on Sally.
And 25 year olds looked 40. Like Lauren Hutton back in 79 looked to be 50. In early late 90s she was even hotter. Brooke Shields at 14 looked to be in her 20s. The kid was 6 feet tall already.
I spent an afternoon with Disco Sally and her then boyfriend Gianni in Acapulco. A wonderful afternoon I will always remember. We went to see the cliff divers. She was very lively and funny and full of life.
Thanks for uploading this! It is very hard to find any information about her, not to mention an interview. I really admire her! Disco Sally wanted to live her last years the way she wanted and didn't care what other people thought about her. She was a true legend! She propably had the best days of her life after when she turned 70. She was reborn at the heighth of the disco era when the Studio 54 was founded and died soon after it was all over and when the Studio 54 was closed.
Thought she was chewing gum🤣 must have been horrible for her heart at that age!! She seemed soo cool tho! That is my Grandmoms name, sally. RIP DISCO SALLY.😥🙂🎶
I was only 7 wish I could had went to original studio 54, I did get to the one at mgm grand in Vegas in 2001 when I was 30 and I got to go into the lobby of 54 3 years ago at least I got close!
Never thought she would have actually been. When I seen her in the movie 54 I thought it was just an added character, but she's actually really real... Cool
This isn’t as peculiar as it seems. Dance halls in her day were HUGE. They were likely bigger and there were likely more of them in the 40s than discos in the 70s.
Let’s see she saw WW1, prohibition, the Great Depression, WW2, Korea war, man on the moon, JFK, civil rights and chose to go out partying now that’s Americans greatest generation
You was lucky I was only 7 years old in Buffalo NY, but I finally "got into" studio 54 4 years ago I was on w54th and the lobby was open with the original doors!
I wish I could had been young adult in NYC but how was people picked to get into 54? The one in Vegas wasn't original location but I got in no problems, I remember it had old pics of NYC 54 on the walls! Better than nothing
That was a piece from a really cheap all-in-one stereo system. My sister had one, 8-track/turntable/radio and attached speakers that had inset lights in a translucent box, and one of those is what she's wearing, likely modified to power with a battery pack. It's wearing her, tbh.

No, a relative told her about 54 and asked her to go there with him so she did and after that she got hooked, she did not discover it on her own
Did she really die in studio 54?
@dimitries Unfortunately, no. She passed in the hospital. Mount Sinai.
@@gmar7836That's not what her IMBD says.
@@feralhomunculus I read her bio somewhere else
It's funny how 77 year olds back then look like the 90 year olds of today.

Now I realize that the character of Nana Fine's grandmother in the series "The Nanny" was an allusion to this lady!😮
I hope to have this lady's spirit and sense of fun when I am her age.

She so coked up. Her jaws flapping to left and right. 😅😅

when people discovered Disco the Greek Giannis Ouzos was already the first Gìlf Lover
Ah yes… I remember her well! At Studio in my 17th year….
Hi Amy , Me To !
Loved this interview.
So fun to see this. One night, she flung her right leg over my 8' 10" crouched self. She was the coolest ❤
I was 5' 10" not Tommy Tune's big brother 😏

LED lights around her neck in 1978?

LED's have been around a very long time, they just didn't gain main steam use in lighting until the last decade or so.
I dont feel afraid of dying as much as getting old like this lady... REALLY SCARED
Awesome💜💜💜💜
BELLA SALLY!!!!
She mentioned Howard Johnson for dinner, LOL!
There's probably a lot of people that don't even know what HoJo's was. I remember when I was a little kid, going there for family dinners. LOL
At 0:58 seconds, This 77-year-old lady makes Mick Jagger look and sound like a young man.
