    I can tell Biréli really loves that guitar, and I also love the tone coming from it : unique and distinct but still very jazzy.
    Even without Biréli, this would be a remarkable piano trio.

    you can’t go wrong with yamaha… :)
    funny enough that he used to play a yamaha ae 1200 (kind of gibson l5) and even with this solidbody with p90 on the neck he sounds still very jazzy… bireli is clearly above the vast majority of guitarplayers… awesome and unique… lucky us!

    Amazing line up! Don’t forget to give Ira Coleman some love; he’s an absolute master of the bass. I saw him perform live with Herbie Hancock years ago at the Stockholm Jazz & Blues Festival, and his playing left me speechless.

      Est-ce qu'un jour la guitare à fait le guitariste, la preuve que non puisque vous êtes entrain de la critiquer, "la guitare".
      Le guitariste quant à lui est au dessus de tout soupçon cela va de soit, enfin je l'espère? merci pour ces critiques stériles, qui n' ont jamais servi et ne serviront jamais à discréditer un génie. Rooguitar apprends à être musicien, avant de vouloir vanter tel ou tel guitare qui d'ailleurs ne te servira à rien tout pendant que tu te focaliseras sur l'instrument avant de savoir même comment il fonctionne. Aria pro 2 custom cardinal série 1980 super gratte à 2 balles, pourtant un putain de son, équipée de Dimarzio double, merde, enfin un peu de réflexion n'empêche pas de vivre en bonne intelligence. Sur ce belle vie à toi et n'oublie pas joue avec ton cœur et ton intelligence et pas avec ta connaissance de la pseudo qualité de l'instrument même si il est vrai qu'il y a des poêles injouables, mais là ce n'est pas le cas.

      @davidmckittrick9804 6 років тому +8

      Purist nonsense. First, the soapbar (or more properly P90) is actually a Gibson design and not a Fender design. And he's not playing a Fender--he's playing a Yahama Pacifica. It's a solid body to be sure, which is more likely your issue. But so what? Ted Greene's masterpiece solo jazz guitar record, which is nothing less than sublime, was done using a Fender Telecaster direct to the board. And his tone was gorgeous (Telecaster neck pickups actually work very nicely for jazz). And in the more fusion context of this performance, the idea that a player would be limited to one of the really dark sounding Gibson hollow-body jazz boxes is a bit silly and anachronistic. Larry Carlton played Valley Arts Stratocaster guitars for years. You may be a producer, but you clearly have a narrow viewpoint about what constitutes an appropriate tool for an artist. And given Bireli's status as a master of his craft, I would dare say he can choose any tool he's comfortable with as long as he plays at the level and with the gorgeous tone he gets here. I actually like the better mid-range articulation and high-end sheen you get with a solid body sometimes. I've got a Tom Anderson Strat that's my main guitar and the neck pickup, which is a stacked humbucker in a single-coil space, has a great jazz tone that I've used on recordings of standards. Bireli didn't ask your opinion. And I suspect he doesn't really care about your narrow-minded, parochial view.
