My Dad is a huge Earth Wind Fire fan. I'm so thankful that he introduced me to this music when I was little. As a '90s baby, I can truly appreciate that they're just isn't anything like the Elements.

This LP was really the witnessing of their musicianship although guitar player Al McKay became upset because in his own words "Reese had promised me that it would be just us & then he brought in all these other people" Al McKay soon left the group as he was a single parent so he wanted to devote his time as well as raise his child, Roland Bautista soon rejoined the group, in my heart I wished they could have stayed together, they were the best Band in the Land, I saw them live in 1975 at the Nassau coliseum on Strong Island, I saw them again at the no longer exists Seattle Superdome in 1979, they disband in 1983-84, I was heartbroken because I knew that no more new albums were going to be coming but in 1987 they came back with the LP Touch The World, I was delighted, saw them in 1987 at Madison Square Garden, I next saw them next 1994 October 28th, the reason I know this because my daughter was born on the 14th that same month, I have video of my daughter in diapers dancing to Let's Groove, I basically raised my daughter on EarthWind & Fire, took her to see 'em in 1994 these ladies next to us were amazed that my child knew all the word's.🌹

Years pass, the quality remains and EARTH, WIND and FIRE will continue to shine for a long time to come in the firmament of the best that Music has given us in this musical universe which punctuates our life and which is so important to us.
I had the pleasure of growing up watching Earth Wind and Fire form and rehearse in Chicago when I was a kid. They took me in and I learned so much from Maurice and especially Verdeen. They are the reason I became a musician.
Maurice White RIP You are still the man. I heard the song You it struck me down. I heard that song in The Bronx New York when I was 18 years old. EWF lives on.
So this double album, the group's first CBS album to *just* go *gold* (if I have my EWF history right), is, to me, the official goodbye to its 70s sound. CBS was screaming for disco and EWF's first answer, I AM's "Boogie Wonderland," was a chart-topping smash. So off to the Caribbean for some in-depth doses of the groove before yielding to musical gravity with the (still good!) "Raise!"

We lost Resse the same week my son died in ‘16. My son departed to eternity on 1/31/16 and Reese went home 2/4/16. One of the toughest weeks of my life but I’m, by the grace of God, still here.

Faces was a very well produced album - the song selection and order of the tunes is sublime. Each song flows into the next memorably and beautifully. I love the leadin to Sparkle!
The first time I heard this song I was getting dressed for school and my mind was instantly blown. My immediate thought was that the simply-titled You was just as good as After The Love Has Gone. I too believe that Faces is Earth, Wind and Fire's best album although at the time it was said to have only sold about 1/2 million copies when their six previous albums had all sold at least two million each. Sales alone however don't determine if a work is a masterpiece. As someone also mentioned Could It Be Right, also with Maurice White singing lead, is also another great EWF song that is hardly heard on radio.
If, I had choose one song, from EWF's colossal catalog as my favorite this would win hands down. I love all their incredible compositions. There are just no words for the magic of Maurice White. Rest in peace.

Maurice, your passing has me in tears... you & the band have been my favorite group since I was a tiny kid -- my parents brought my brother & I to your concert @Oakland Coliseum in the 1970's; Mike & I were only 8 and 10 yrs. old!!! Our whole (extended) family were already big fans, but this was the first arena concert that I ever attended... so it blew my mind on many levels. I first heard this record @ Aunt Gerrie & Uncle Nelson Kendrick's home in Fall 1980-they had the "Faces" album! A year later, I'd hear it before and after getting baptized in Sep. '81! The single debuted Nov. 22, 1980; 12 weeks; reached #10 R&B, #48 Pop!!

Faces was a very well produced album - the song selection and order of the tunes is sublime. Each song flows into the next memorably and beautifully. I love the leadin to Sparkle!
The first time I heard this song I was getting dressed for school and my mind was instantly blown.
My immediate thought was that the simply-titled You was just as good as After The Love Has Gone.
I too believe that Faces is Earth, Wind and Fire's best album although at the time it was said to have only sold about 1/2 million copies when their six previous albums had all sold at least two million each.
Sales alone however don't determine if a work is a masterpiece.
As someone also mentioned Could It Be Right, also with Maurice White singing lead, is also another great EWF song that is hardly heard on radio.
If, I had choose one song, from EWF's colossal catalog as my favorite this would win hands down. I love all their incredible compositions. There are just no words for the magic of Maurice White. Rest in peace.

Maurice, your passing has me in tears... you & the band have been my favorite group since I was a tiny kid -- my parents brought my brother & I to your concert @Oakland Coliseum in the 1970's; Mike & I were only 8 and 10 yrs. old!!!
Our whole (extended) family were already big fans, but this was the first arena concert that I ever attended... so it blew my mind on many levels. I'll forever cherish the message & music of Earth, Wind & Fire -- I can't imagine my life with never hearing or being inspired by your magical repertoire... ask any of my friends or fans -- you can hear the musical influence of EWF in my music, no doubt!!! xoxoxoxoxoxox R.I.P.
