The most daunting fact remains. Maurice White had a voice of pure gold. Brings me to tears when I hear the soulfulness with just plain purity. I miss this man and his musicianship!!!
E,W&F was the best funk band in the world of all time for me! Since I was 11 years old, when I attended his show in Brazil in 1977, I deeply admired this band. Their use of horns, rhythmic grooves, and harmonies created an instantly recognizable signature sound. E,W&F forever!!!!
Tell ME about it ,I saw them when I was seventeen, I m approaching sixty nine in July , that's the way of the world , the best song That's ever been written ❤
I was in the Army when this came out, it has stood the test of time, this is a Charles Stepney Special, Charles Stepney taught the Phenix Horns how to screech, he was EarthWind & Fire's task master, also I remember Quincy Jones questioning Verdine White how he played the chords on this session, they were & still are the baddest band in the land, I saw them in 75,79,80, 88, 94, 03, their musicianship is excellent, simply marvelous. 👑
Thank you for mentioning Charles Stepney. He was the master of tuition and a man who needs a lot more credit for the amazing sounds this group produced.
This band was symbiotic in its vocals and instruments. They were harmonic on multiple levels. True music at its best. No one comes close to that today. Magical musicianship.
There are no words to adequately describe the stunning, outstanding, and amazing quality of this mix and the sheer pleasure that I get when I hear this version of this song. Thank you so much for sharing this mix. Much appreciated.
I feel the exact same way about tampering with classic songs. But I'm digging this. Man, if Maurice White and Frankie Beverly had ever taken the stage together, there would have been a massive explosion that would knock space shuttles out of orbit.

OMG!!! One of the best songs ever on Earth……was remixed to the best ever in the solar system, didn’t think that was possible, the ending transitioned from the universe straight to Heaven, unbelievable, I am totally in awe. EW&F - GOAT.
Never knew this version even existed until recently... One of, if not my very favorite EW&F cuts! The horns make it complete, and I really like the ending! RIP Maurice White.

This is a Dope Remix!! I Love how it's stripped down, which leads to a build up, classic version and then breathes at the end.. only to end perfectly in harmony!!
Did they perform this song at the concert? I ask because it's almost impossible to find a video of them doing this song when they first released it (other than on the TV show they did with Natalie Cole)
I'm a "ole dawg" EWF fan from when they first started in '71 and I've heard many cats try to remix their tunes but this is one of the best ever! Big props to you, Homie! Now if you could just do the same for That's The Way Of The World. lol
One of the most soulful melodies ever performed was just boiled down to the essentials and made even more spectacular! I don't know who is to blame for this but I want to thank them!
Me and a college friend William C.Scott read our poems with this song as the fabric...this was 1978... Never have I heard such a beautiful and relaxing, smooth remix. Thanks Thanks allot for enhancing such an iconic tune, you have music pulsing thru yo soul, bro
2021 and there is no comparison...no color no ethnicity no political pride... absolute musical genius and performance. there will be no other musical perfection that compares. thank God for the human race and those who dig the real perfection that is ewf. From an older pale pigmented soul who gets it. Hope all of you do too. We ARE finding who we ARE. God bless all of you who read this and know. P E A C E.
So great is this song that the horn section is arguably the least appreciated ingredient of it. The lead singing by Maurice White,...the beautifully harmonic background singing by the band members, led by Phillip Bailey...the great bass playing by Verdine White...the arrangement by Maurice White...all of it is just a masterpiece. And that horn section on this tune alone gave us a lesson on why musicians playing instruments, instead of computers doing it, makes all the difference in giving the listener timeless music instead of just timely music.
Its January 5, 2022.. Fot some reason this song came into my mind..The first concert I ever went to..My older brother took me at New Haven, Coliseum.. I dont remember much, but remember the outfits, the space ships on stage.. Great times! Thank you EWF, Maurice for the soundtrack of so many of our lives. RiP.
I Like it....a lot! In the late '60's when Maurice White told Ramsey Lewis that he was leaving the group to form his own group Ramsey told him he was crazy. For the first few years they struggled to produce music to which the public would listen. Even their last album on Warner Bros Records before signing with Columbia Records was not considered that good; except for One Song "I Think About Loving You". That One song put Earth, Wind & Fire on the R&B Charts and in the music collections of many folks who love R&B. Their first album on Columbia was much different, and the group immediately soared to the top of the charts. I was blessed to see them live right after that album "Last Days In Time" was released and man, WHAT A SHOW!
The most daunting fact remains. Maurice White had a voice of pure gold. Brings me to tears when I hear the soulfulness with just plain purity. I miss this man and his musicianship!!!
Irreplaceable for sure!

Maurice White. 30 yrs. ahead of his time. King of Kings my friends. Nice job!
There is one King of kings

RIP to the genius of Charles Stepney. He was the coach to Maurice's QB.
Great statement. That dude had some killer arrangements. Les Fluers Minnie Rippeton, I can sing a rainbow The Dells and this Masterpiece among others.
Lets not forget about the tootlage of the Great Ramsey Lewis who helped him start out with that first Big one ...Sun Goddess.. which was a Smash hit!
Yes Charles doesn't get the credit he absolutely deserves. EWF say this too.
Also can't forget the songwriter Skip Scarborough
@MrTechman01 huh
Best version of this song hands down.
