Hey Adam, this video is just what I was looking for. I have ordered my Klim Krios Pro helmet and am looking into iAsus X-sound 3's in the helmet. I was looking to see if the 45mm speakers could be fitted before I ordered the speakers. Looks like it will from your video. I do plan to order a Cardo in the future, but hate the idea of paying the premium $$ when I will not be using the speakers!?

Well done video! I was wondering if the speakers hurt your ears, as in....do they press into your ears.
They did and my fix was that I carved out a bit of the helmet foam and that's solved it for me.
@@AdamChandler86 Thanks! I found that the JBL speakers start to hurt after a few hours, even with speaker pockets on my scorpion AT950.
If you can dig out the EPS a bit, it is better. I was in the same situation.
Thanks for the video....one question. What did you do with the fabric attached to the cheek pads that covers where your ears sit? Did you just mount the speakers on top of that, or did you cut that out? I'm trying to mount my headset speakers and if I mount it on top of that fabric, the speakers hit my ears and is really uncomfortable. I'd like to not have to cut that out if I can help it.
I cut it all out. It’s not as comfortable as stock but if you cut deep enough (a little bit into the foam) it works well.

Hi, Isn't it better to put GoPro on the left side where the lens is not so close to the helmet?
It's all personal preference. I've done it on both sides and it's fine either way.

Did you cut away padding to fit the speakers? Otherwise the padding will cover the speaker.
I didn't for this video BUT I am going to do that soon. I need to make more room for the speakers as they're just too much pushing into my ears at the moment.
@@AdamChandler86 I installed the Cardo Packtalk Black on my Klim Krios Pro today. Thanks for the tips. Installed the speakers on the outside of the paddings. The speakers are very close to my ears, and I also use earplugs, so the tip of the earplugs touches the speakers. Seems fine when I ride on pavement, but off-road I am not so sure. I installed an Equalizer app on my phone and that made the sound so much better!

I just use whatever GoPro sells with the “helmet mount kit” It’s a GREAT kit. Strong and I have it on every helmet.

Many thanks for the video. I just purchased a Cardo Packtalk bold and am looking for a helmet with a peak. I was interested in the Klim helmet, but wasn’t sure how well it would install. Do you get wind noise through the internal mike with the front vent open? I will use the Cardo mostly for communication with my riding buddy, so clear sound through the comm system is important for me. Also, how do you like the helmet? Does the peak work well in regards to blocking the sun. Do you use the transitions shield with the peak installed? Does it give you much wind drag? Again, thank you for the informative video.
Hi Bob, congrats on the new comms! I've been riding with my GF for the past 6 days and she hasn't complained about any wind noise coming from my microphone. We haven't done any interstate touring through but the Krios Pro is surprisingly quiet. Not as much as the Shoei Neotec but it's pretty impressive how nice it rides and no issues with wind pulling my head back with the beak installed. The shield + Beak is fine. The top of the shield won't get fully tinted but it gets dark enough. I like the Krios Pro much more than I thought I would!

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with the Hornet or XD-4 but many of my friends really like the XD-4. There aren't many Krios Pro out in the world as Klim isn't making enough to keep up with demand. Arai versus Shoei I believe comes down to head size. I'm a Shoei guy and so far, no hot spots on the Klim which is great.
@@AdamChandler86 I’ve had 2 Shoei’s, an RF-1100, which I still have, and a Neotec 2. I sold the Neotec 2 thinking it wasn’t the right fit. It would always give me a headache after about an hour. On a recent ride, discovered my RF-1100 gives me a headache as well. The RF-1100 has a dark shield. I’ve come to realize that the direct sunlight shining down on the shield is causing the headaches, my eyes are very sensitive to light. I believe the beak will solve my problem with headaches if the beak will shade my eyes from the direct sunlight....at least that’s what I’m banking my $700 on😏....
