About the tone, the thing is in some languages they way they sound may seem like they are talking bad but it’s the COMPLETE opposite. @frankieslight I just stumbled upon this video and wanted to tell you that I think your family and story are AWESOME and so inspiring! I learned German when I was in high school (I was in an incredibly immersive program and became fluent) and then I taught myself Hebrew as an adult, so I know how challenging it is to learn a whole new alphabet- let alone a new language!- on your own!! I have SO MUCH respect for you to not only commit to teaching YOURSELF Chinese -BOTH Mandarin AND Cantonese 😱🤯- but to ALSO have the courage to go out and practice it with native speakers! I’m incredibly inspired by you and I feel very grateful to have found your channel, and this video in particular! You’ve given me the courage (and the little nudge that I needed 😉) to get over myself and my fear of embarrassment and just go for it, and practice speaking my foreign languages when the opportunities arise!! Thank you so much for your courage and for sharing your stories and experiences!! I hope you get only positive feedback and ALL of the honor and recognition you deserve (and I don’t just mean the fish tacos 😉)! I wish you and yours all the best, every happiness, and much success!!

I have to provide context because a lot of you guys are missing the point of this video. People natural reaction when they hear someone is “talking” about them or “gossiping” about them is that it’s negative. If you look up the definition of gossip it is a neutral statement. The purpose of this video was not to shame the nail techs but rather show people the power and beauty of languages. They were talking about us because they saw us recording and was letting each other know. Not because of saying something many are suggesting like anything racist or obscene. I hope this provides some clarity. UA-cam is a world where you have to put titles that will attract viewers but still be open for interpretation. Don’t hate the player , hate the game. All the featured businesses did a phenomenal job and service and I tipped each of them very well. And please, don’t come at me about not supporting black businesses because you don’t know anything about me or what I’ve done. You think it’s easy for a black man to learn Chinese and work in Chinatown?! Ok then, I know some shit. The way to eradicate racist ideologies is to find common ground with each other and get back to our true HUMAN nature and language is a great tool which accomplishes just that. Nelson Mandela once said “If you speak to someone in a language they understand, it goes to their brain. If you speak to someone in their mother’s language it goes to their heart “❤️.Let’s change the narrative, pick up a foreign language today and see for yourself how many doors it will open for you. One last thing, Many of you have questions about learning a new language and I will be creating MANY videos touching on that subject and showing you guys how you can also claim the honor of being “self taught” in not only languages but in anything else for that matter because I am an expert learner and very passionate about guiding others to their goal whatever that may be. So be sure to subscribe and hit the notification bell !🛎

Amerie overheard the Korean staff talking shit about the all-black customers, herself included (they didn't know she was also Korean & knew the language), in Korean and checked them in said language, telling them how disrespectful & nasty they were being talking about their customers in a language they didn't understand while having a store in their neighborhood & taking their money.

this is not racism at all, you have been programmed to perceived this as racism, trust me. you have to start out by knowing that racism is the believe that a particular race is better than other, you see non of that here!! but in the United States now everything is racist, but is not.

I'm polish. Ill honestly admit, it is very rare to find a black person who speaks polish. My mom told me about this time in her early 20s when she went to a bar with a friend and started talking in polish to her friend about this handsome ass black man next to her. After about 5 minutes, he laughed, and leaned over and in polish says "thanks a lot. I think you two are quite beautiful to." .. my mom said she blushed instantly lmao. And her and her friend died laughing. Lol

I have studied several other languages in school but wasn’t able to reach fluency without immersion. Then, I forget what I learned with disuse. I expect that is pretty typical, and I certainly admire this young man. I see no reason for me to have to speak another language in MY country. However, if I was in another country I would make the effort to learn. I treat everyone with respect and others should do the same. Anyone who mocks their customers openly like this are despicable.
