Is it me or half of the appeal of this dude's channel is his music tips but the other half be his joyful and happy attitude that makes you want to just hang out with him and chillax??
By far. I've been a fan for years. I attend your videos like I'm in a classroom. Anyone that thumbs down a video is a hater and both of their real thumbs need to be cut off because they committed a hideous crime. lol Peace from Augusta,GA. Home of the Masters Golf Tournament, Peach Jam Basketball Tournament, and the original 9th Street Pimps
Next video he shows how to use a Ouija board to contact J dilla from beyond to make some VerysickBeats. Another great vid man. Flowers is one of my favorite instrumentals by Jay Dee.
thank yu so much for these dilla techniques.. my nephew constantly asks mi how I get that swing & sound in my production.. lol without lecturing a whole course for him I just pin point him to your channel & he now subscribed to it so thank yu Jay, much appreciation fam!
Your videos r helping me a lot in producing I'm on mpc one HIS techniques r so great it's no harm in learning the best techniques that changes hip-hop for ever what a legend JD is missed always
not only have these videos given me some ideas for my own music, but it makes me appreciate the man's music so much more once you focus on all the little details that was really put into each beat !
It will also make a great finishing touch to add some humanisation once the best is recorded down in midi. Subtly altering the volume and timing of each note will give it that real natural tambourine feel.
love your channel man!! Been a long time Dilla fan, and your vids have pointed out, EXactly what I loved about his beats, I just hadnt broken it down like the way you did. Big up, musical genius right there.
hey man! really loved this series, loooots of awesome tutorials - actually only found you bc of the dilla techniques i think. no trap for sure haha! id love to get mf doom or pete rock tutorials
+Verysickbeats In a lot of his beats he seems to use similar hihats (ex: For Pete's Sake, Escape, intro of In The House, Take You There, They Reminisce Over You...) and it sounds so good!!! And anything from Petestrumentals 1 samples, bass lines, drums... Just the way he chooses his samples, filter them and layer them... He is a genius! The same goes with Preem. A lot of his joints seem to use the same drums (ex: Me Or The Papes, The Come Up, My Advice 2 You, Ya Playin' Yourself, MC's Act Like They Don't Know...) I can't figure out what makes me love them so much. I think he has a secret on the way he's compressing his drums I don't know. What makes them so good you feel me lolll? Thank you!!!
I normally put my Hi Hats on 16 levels & just play randomly for 4 bars but I like the technique of accents hitting on a specific measure. Once again very sick vid!
+Dewabarasunderan side chain it to everything. its easy in ableton - dont know about other daws or drum machines tho sorry. googling side chaining might help
@@Verysickbeats do you have sample packs that are similar to this 90's style or can I only get it on the akai mpc 2000xl itself...I'm just starting off using akai mpk249
thumbs up thanks for the videos man... love dilla type beats also premo beats... and pete rock and madlib so anything to do with these guys sounds good to me thanks again and im gonna give this technique a try !
I have a hard time sequencing my beats. I get a cool groove going, and then I get stuck. I have a ton of loops, if you will, but no full tracks. What are some ways you sequence a whole song?

Kind of how to get that (maybe) over compressed type of kick
+Dewabarasunderan side chain it to everything. its easy in ableton - dont know about other daws or drum machines tho sorry. googling side chaining might help
Yeah, I am aware of the concept of side -chaining, but it still isn't really sounding the way I want it to.
Thanks anyways;)

+theehoesofhope FACTSSS
theehoesofhope 9th learned by listening to Dilla and a few others. 9th does have a couple of things he brought to the game tho.

+ajxizzle 92bpm i think LOL
can you do a Tommy Wright III inspired techniques
thanks for the request
how can I do this on abelton
i'd say use various velocity levels
My only suggestion is noting count tighter than 1/4 notes with 1E+a 2E+a 3E+a 4E+a
Not bring critical for sake of it but it's a common oversight with otherwise great videos for beginner beat makers. I state it as I've found good beat makers often can't count lower than 8th notes. Respect on your enthusiasm and dedication to the craft.
I'll add, a jazz drummer gave me that jewel, decades ago playing together.
thanks for sharing
Using drum breaks is something I’d like to get into. Just can’t seem to grasp the concept.🙏🏾
it just takes practice but you'll get it, feel free to email me info@howtomakeverysickbeats.com
just blaze?
or iron shiek
16 Level Velocity. Aaaahhh! Thanks
my pleasure
knxwledge
Knxwlege would be an interesting one to see, even though he's a mix of Dilla madlib and fly lo
@@soulbrown7838 knxwledge def has dilla and madlib swing, but the sound design he has is way different.
do you still have drum kits available fam?
yes just go to bit.ly/verysicksale
mpc vs mashine?
im biased to the mpc LOL
would appreciate a 9th wonder technique video
