Bro, honestly a conservatory school in music should hire you. The way you decipher all those secrets from producers and present them to us is amazing! I been producing for 9-10 years, but I still learn new stuff.. thanks to your video's! Respect from the Netherlands!
Dilla was the best at this...he created this in my opinion...it made his beats so warm, thick and full. This always caught my ear. Another trick he had to making his beats sound like it was live instrumentation. Nice!
Yeah this is 100% his thing. No one really did it before him and not since him either. But it’s easily the best technique so I’m surprised people haven’t bited this bass style
This host is the kinda dude I gotta talk shop bout production n music in general! When I get a solid ten mins of talkjn to good vibes folks about my first true love (good music!) I'm feeling good all day long! So aside from making* me own tracks Nothin is more enjoyable than a back n forth w others who love it the same way n trading tips n just learning new names to check out etc
Dude these are some of the best tutorials come across so far. I'm relatively new to the MPC scene so they are an invaluable help. I am in your debt! Peace.
yo bro I am watching this 8 years after its release, still useful and precious also happy to see that you're still active I send you love and respect, from Paris
Just found your stuff and I'm stoked about the sheer amount of content I'm looking forward to going through from ya! Love the knowledge and positive attitude.
bro i love ur energy, I just got an MPC and heavy into dilla and other 90's rap (Gang Starr, Preemo type stuff) just wanna say thanks for the tips bro! 5 years later they still hit !
that was beautiful man...never look at it like that...remind of the James Brown movie when he asked every musician what are you playin...they finally got it ...they all said "a drum" ...never thought about treating the bass like it's own kick pattern ...that really fills a lot of gaps
thank you said it the album is crazy the idea of it was dope i first heard this when i was 8 in 99 when first came out my mom always bump the cd in the whip
Literally no one does this better than dilla. This ALONE is why he is so renowned. Absolutely ethereal blows my mind I always know when a dilla beat is playing.
Man I stop using my MPC four years back when I started work and all that but now that I have a free time I turned it back on and I came across your channel thinking this was not on UA-cam back then great too see more people using hardware instead of just Fl studio when I stop i did it because I felt like every one was into the fl studio staff and not in to my hardcore old school hardware staff but now that I see people are getting back in to it am opening my sound cloud account again and going to start sharing some old school vibes by the way stopping for that long kind help my ears and style now i think I can put more detail now then before any way thanks for sharing all the good info and cheers to the Boom bap community
That's what's up! This was HEAVY!! Very much like a Dilla inspired technique, I'm going to implement this to my tracks as well. Thanks for the great videos!
super awesome video thanks for sharing. Maybe you should try to denoise your mic with audacity or whatever DAW you are using, because you have a slight low freq hum in your voice. Just looking out for you brotha. Again thanks for your inspiration :D
+Verysickbeats Thank you for responding, it's a real easy thing to do in audacity actually just get a noise profile of the mic by just recording air without you speaking, takes 5 seconds or less, click denoise in audacity allow the program to render it and bam, you have clear audio, hope that helps you out my man, sending you positive energy, be blessed :D
thanks, it was his high gift of sound manipulation and feel...wish i could explain it better but no one will ever really crack the code unless u had is brain
just a random question but do you have a background in music? prior to making beats? or did you just decide you wanted to make beats one day? really good stuff man thanks for all the tutorials!!
Such a great finding this channel!!!! Really inspiring, wish I had an MPC of my own to develop my ideas completely. Only thing I have is Koala Sampler on my phone

Some nice Jazz guitar on Dilla's track too(Sounds jazzy at least)
The sample sounds like it might be Joe Pass playing Giant Steps (originally by John Coltrane). Incredible jazz guitar player
