Once you have set the time into PM, you roll the hour hand first clockwise between (approximately) the 8 marker to the 1 marker and then back to (again approximately) the 8 marker. This changes the date. If it is
not working you are trying to do so with the watch in AM or you are not moving the hour hand enough within his range. This works with every one of the 11 Vostok’s I have with a date function. Hope this helps.
It can break your date wheel. It did for mine.
@@TopTierTickerYou must have been very unlucky as I have used this method for over 20 years on every Vostok with a date function that I have ever owned without any issues.
It should break anything because this was usually a Feature for most eastern Block watches

No. Quick date change hack = wind the hour hand to 12 o clock position, then back to 9/8 o clock position, then back past the 12 o clock position for quickish date change ;)

This is feature. It's not annoying. It demands your attention every day or else you regret it.
Even with the 12-8 reversing hand trick, it takes some time but..... Good foreplay is never annoying, isn't it 😅?
There is a quick set date actually. It is in the manual по Русский

To change the date unscrew and pull out the crown as if setting the time (there is only one click out).
- turn the hands to midnight in a clock wise position and slowly move past midnight until the date clicks to the next day number.
- Now slowly turn the hands backwards (anti clockwise) until the hour hand moves just past the 8 ( 12, 11, 10, 9, 8)
- Now turn the hands foreword (clockwise) and as you reach just past 12, 1, the day will click forward again one number.
- Repeat until you reach the correct date at 12 midnight. Now set the time (for am move up-to 12 noon. For pm, continue moving to the desired time (the date will not change at the first passing of 12 (noon) but will automatically change when moving past 12 midnight).
- OR just keep turning the hands clockwise until you reach the desired date.
I know this is possible. But it broke my movement. The date wheel became permanently stuck. I do not recommend doing this.
Even with a quick set date function, I never set the date on my watches.
It is a waste of time. I can check the date on my phone.
My automatic watches are to tell time, look cool, and make me happy.
Setting the date never makes me happy.
I don't even change the date on my other watches with a quick set date feature 😂
I have one. Annoying yes... but wind past midnight to change the date... then wind backwards from midnight a bit... then wind past midnight again to change the date... repeat as necessary.
But yes, still annoying.
This why I look for a "no date" Vostok
The date is easy once it changes you stop turn time backwards to 10 1030 then forward again and so on. Takes literally a min to change 15 days
Actually I just checked the instruction for my Vostok and it has dedicated page to describe quick date set by moving hour hand 12-8-12. Did you tried that or minute hand 0-50-0, when you had your date wheel broken?
I tried everything to fix it. It made the click, nothing changed

Does that mean that you can't damage the movement by setting the date at the wrong time then?
It was pretty common, for a 60's watch 😅 my aquastar 60 has this feature

There's a hack to this complication. simply go to 12 back to 8 and 12 again.
This isn't technically true ...... once the minute hand passes midnight go backwards to 50 amd then forward and it changes the date quick JS kinda quick set lol
Yep, that broke my date wheel and now it's infinitely stuck on the same date. I do not advise that whatsoever.

I dont know how it broke your date wheel. I've never had an issue with any of.my date wheels. It's probably more something with it was already defective, never heard of that happening before.
@@jamesabercrombie7260yea I do it all the time and I also never heard someone breaking his date wheel like this, It would have probably broke eventually but he may have accelerated the process by doing so. I guess it’s just russian QC, you have to be lucky with vostoks, sometimes they are just faulty and there isn’t much you can do, this is the downside of the watches being so cheap
Its uniquely Vostok. No other watches have this. I will forever love my amphibia❤
It’s just a non-hacking movement, what i do with mine is I set it to midnight so it changes the date, then go counterclockwise till i see the date wheel move a bit and then clockwise again to midnight so I dont have to go a full rotation. Much quicker this way

Watches have to be a very personal thing. I think this watch looks cheap and ugly. Something I would expect from a happy meal

Just don’t wear it again until that day comes back around 😂 If you have a bunch then you wouldn’t have to wait to long. Sadly they aren’t as cheap as they used to be 😢

Are you going to tell me about the 10-12 date hack Paul? Yeah, it broke my movement. It's not a feature of the movement. Quickset date is a feature, this doesn't have it.
