One of the few good things about Dressrosa and easily one of the best villain in One Piece. Great backstory that explains why he's evil; competent as heck, and also provides a great challenge to the Straw Hats and Law. All in all, he's one of those individuals who is a fountain of charisma. For me, my favorite Doffy moment(SERIES SPOILERS) is his speech about the Throne Wars when he talks about how his downfall would usher the world changing so radically. When you consider the very recent events of the manga and where things are going, Doffy was nostradamus in terms of predicting what was about to go down and what his downfall would mean going forward.
One thing I liked about Doflamingo was his big speech during the war at marine ford it was the words of a mad man and at the same time he was right. This being of evil actually understood people and society enough that it was horrific back when I first saw it back when I was a teenager.
I like this guy’s devil fruit ability, it reinforces the idea that it’s not the description of a power that makes it dangerous, it’s the creativity applied to it by the user that makes it dangerous, like a magnet ability that can pull small objects including organs from the body
Doflamingo is by far my favorite One Piece villain, and one of my favorite anime villains in general. I love how even though he has a tragic backstory, it's made clear that he was already a pretty terrible person before the tragedies happened in his life. His backstory isn't used as an excuse for his actions. Although I do often like sympathetic villains, I also greatly enjoy villains who are humanized without being sympathetic. I think Doflamingo is a great example of that type of villain.
Doflamingo the dragon that lost everything and is now a slave towards his greed. no matter who you are, will it be pirate, marine or even his own allies you’ll never be safe from this dragons manipulation and evil.😺
One thing I really like is that alot of people point out the Seven Warlords correspond to the Seven Deadly Sins with Doflamingo clearly symbolizing Wrath, as his actions are effectively him lashing out at the world for all the suffering he endured as a child and while he might act carefree and goofy, it's only a mask to hide the nearly boundless rage he has hiding just below the surface.
@@Goleon Kuma is hard to nail down while I just swap out Jimbei for Blackbeard as Gluttony since Jimbei basically resigned from the Warlords when we finally see him
Ever since I first saw Doflamingo in skypiea Arc and later marineford I was invested in him and was dying to see arc dedicated to him and oh boy it did not disappoint (ignoring the anime adaptation) Oda did a great job with Doffy and I hope to see him again soon.
Excellent video Doffy is one of my favorite characters in OP. Though in this video is actually the first time I've heard dubbed doffy, and it just sounds like Kaiba finally went off the deep end from losing too many times to Yugi.
I love Doflamingos's backstory because normally villains are either formed through nurture or through nature... but Doflamingo is BOTH: He was already a shitty and psychopathic kid... but add into it that people tortured him and his father and brother despite the fact that they specifically were doing nothing worth torturing for and you get a psychopath who believes he is 100% justified and logical in his views on "survival of the fittest and everyone at my feet". Doflamingo is equal parts a result of the evil of the Celestial Dragons and result of the contempt and wrong-placed vengeance of the common folk.
I love Doflamingo and hope a plays a big role in the last arc. He is someone very relatable and a realist who cared so much for his family. You do not kill your baby brother personally if there was no true love in the first place
@@sethinthehouse1i find relatable somehow. He was a jerk when he was little but he was human, thats why he took care of his mother when she was sick. His father wanted to be human and that caused the torture and misery of his family. I kind could understand he hates normal people. Corazón was too young to remember the life in Mary Goise and he find a better role model. Doffy was a jerk but also a victim of destiny
Doflamingo is more than likely the most prominent example you can take from any anime of how just because you have gone through things no one should ever be faced with doesn’t excuse you for being unhinged in how cruel you’re acting
I love Doffy is already evil from the start and his tragic childhood just made him even more evil. It completely deviates from the "villains are made, not born" trope.
He was a jerk but not a evil. You can see him taking care of his mother when he was sick. He didnt murder his father out of rage, he wanted to be back with his brother to Mary Goise, because they could be killed there
Doflamingo is one of the things that probably saved a lot of people from dying trying to watch the Dressrosa arc in the anime lol. It's all about the smiles
As a guy who loves the franchise but is so far behind that playing catchup is legitimately horrifying, I much appreciate a vid on one of the major villains like this - especially a particularly good one (altho it's not like OP has a shortage of good ones haha).
It is all about the smiles 😊 But on a serious note. I really like villains that are fun, have a backstory and reason why the way they are, and that are some time per evil. I lot of people thinking Villain with sympathic backstory are going to be redeemed. When that is not the case. Backstory while it can use for sympathy sometime are just used a reason why the villain the way they are. TLDR: Have villains have backstories on the reason for what they do, but don’t make them sympathic all of the time. You can do it once and a while. But there really need to be a balance of the two.
PLEASE cover Toguro for Yu Yu Hakusho, he is Possibly one if the most complex villains I have seen. Man loses everything and becomes they thing he hates most, desiring death but doing his damndest to insure that death never comes.
Amazing video and i agree with too much sympathetic villains recently I would love to see a Blackbeard video as well. Oh and...Its all about the smiles
He's interesting yet terrifying that gets to my spine. I'll admit when reading his backstory is interesting only to realize he manipulated the audience and the readers with his story that makes you feel conflicted and disturbing.
I’d love to see Law fight against Germa 66 (except Reiju) and Gamma Knife Vinsmoke Niji. He deserves it more than the rest of the Vinsmoke Family. Also, please do the Sanji/Doflamingo comparison video. That sounds like an amazing video I most certainly would watch.
It’s all about the smiles …Also I’m pretty sure if you show a character’s elements of sympathy and humanity, that makes them not pure evil by definition. Even though he’s still definitely very evil
You HAVE to talk about Rob Lucci, because I think he's also a great One Piece villain solely because he doesn't want power, fame, wealth, etc. He just wants blood, as said himself. He is a lot different than any other antagonist in one piece. Some other good antagonists would be Katakuri and Judge, they would be cool too.
"Human Trafficking is old news, It's ALL about the SMILES now~" Donquixote Doflamingo. I would LOVE to see MangaKamen do an episode called: Boundless Human Empathy: Donquixote Rosinante. While much clumsier than Doffy, Rosinante had the exact amount of Suffering Doffy had, BUT became one of the most compasionate and loving members of the Marines after being found by Garp. He wanted to help Law, a troubled little brat who traveled the same path Doffy did, and would have become a second coming of the Monster, but despite all that, even when drunk and ranting, Rosinante cried. He knew Law was hurting and wanted Law to be happy, and Rosinante, even at the cost of his own life, died protecting Law and the World from Doffy. The only men to mourn Rosinante were Law and Sengoku, who had found Rosinante as a child after the death of his birth father, Homing. It is what made the scene after Doffy's arrest with Law talking to Sengoku so powerful to me. sorry for the rant, Rosinante and Doflamingo are two of my favorite characters because they show two sides of Humanity's struggle: Great Kindness through Suffering or Great Terror through Suffering. Still hopeful MangaKamen does the Rosinante video.
I’d say two things you missed out on is doflamingo’s jp laugh that’s the biggest offense in this whole video lol and the the second would be that we didn’t have an inkling on what his powers were before the timeskip. We saw this man in a war cleave off a giants leg, cleanly, and then control both pirates and marines to fight everyone. He was pure chaos and it was unnerving
Doffy counts to my favorite villians in OP together with moria, magelan and crocodil ^^ but with doffy its different because he was the most successful out of the bunch. Sure u could say magelan as well but thats not about him rn. Doffy got this right mix, he cared for his crew but at the same time was a horrible person and a monster. Usually i dont like the celestial dragons because they act like theyre supreme but with doffy he can back it up and the nice change of pace really helps his case out :3 Also, the fact that he got such a close relation to law (kinda his uncle if u wanna put it that way, because cora-san was law dad in a way) and they foiled each other but we getting off track. Doffy is often evil for evil sake and as u said, its enteraining and also know things we dont know yet which will be an important reveal later on (i hope ^^')
Speaking of villains done right, have you heard of The Legend of Vox Machina? While it’s a very funny and adult D&D styled satire on the surface. When it comes to its main villains, and serious moments, they make them as impactful as possible with no funny scenes. I think it would be a good tv show to do a video on.
I have some Suggestions of Great Villains you can do If you like. -Albert wesker(Resident evil franchise) -William afton(Five nights at freddy) -Monokuma(Danganronpa) -Frieza(Dragon ball franchise) -Johann liebert(Monster) -Tomaru shigaraki(My hero academia)
A very good video, I like it. Doflamingo is my favorite villain. If you're making a video about villains again, can I request that you're gonna make a video about Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter? He is my favorite villain in that anime. I hope this video gets views👍
not going to lie he as the best wardrobe and fashion whether his signature fashion of famous pink fluffy coat or the red suit with spiky hair looks amazing while threatening and terrifying.
His messed up relationship with his crew is also very interesting, they invalidate his beliefs and make excuses for him while he protects them , he also manipulated specific traits about each of them that keep him his crew like with baby 5 and her inability to say no or how butters up diamente’s ego but the other side of it is shown in his relationship with Trebol , it feels like a cult but the cultist is so enamored by the fact his believers invalidate his beliefs that he can’t seperate himself from them , which is why he does show care and protection to them when he can, a messed up form of found family contrasting with luffys found family in his crew too
Doffy is literally one of me favorite villains aside from black beard and kaido, he feel like that one rapper guy that had the rainbow teeth along with his tattoos
My only complaint about Doffy as a villain is his impact on Luffy as an antagonist, since the role of antagonists are supposed to be actively opposed against the adversary and mostly the protagonist, like Doffy can be really evil and well explained but when his only interactions against Luffy were having him going to the colosseum and fighting Bellamy afterwards it just feels lackluster compared to other antagonists/villains. For example, when you compare Doffy to Akainu and Teach as obstacles and antagonists to Luffy, both those characters actively played parts in essentially ruining Luffy's life whereas Doffy didn't leave that much impact on Luffy in comparison.
Ya know, just because you doubt we will reach your like goal for that Sanji/Doffy comparison vid, we will specifically like bomb it. ITS ALL ABOUT THE SMILES!

For me, my favorite Doffy moment(SERIES SPOILERS)
is his speech about the Throne Wars when he talks about how his downfall would usher the world changing so radically. When you consider the very recent events of the manga and where things are going, Doffy was nostradamus in terms of predicting what was about to go down and what his downfall would mean going forward.
i binged dressrosa in the manga was like 9/10 for me great arc all around pacing couldve been better but was amazing recently done with the arc
I wonder if he thinks Luffys the front runner
Ryan Gosling's Ken is how I picture Donquixote Dolflamingo in the Netflix version of One Piece
One thing I liked about Doflamingo was his big speech during the war at marine ford it was the words of a mad man and at the same time he was right. This being of evil actually understood people and society enough that it was horrific back when I first saw it back when I was a teenager.
Doflamingo and blackbeard have remained my fave villains throughout the anime
We know “IT’S ALL ABOUT THE SMILES!” but in all seriousness, I really want that Sanji and Doflammingo comparison video.
Doflamingo easily my favourite one piece villain and one of my favourite anime villains of all time.
It's all about the smiles.
I got a good idea that Mihawk, Crocodile, Boa and shadow man guy are pride, greed, lust and sloth but Kuma and Jinbei are hard to figure out.
@@Goleon Kuma is hard to nail down while I just swap out Jimbei for Blackbeard as Gluttony since Jimbei basically resigned from the Warlords when we finally see him
I would love to see someone do a fanart of Doflamingo as The Joker. That would have been cool.
"Let's put a SMILE on their faces!"
Doflamingo is still my favorite villain in One Piece so far.
Ever since I first saw Doflamingo in skypiea Arc and later marineford I was invested in him and was dying to see arc dedicated to him and oh boy it did not disappoint (ignoring the anime adaptation) Oda did a great job with Doffy and I hope to see him again soon.
Fantastic villain with fantastic fashion sense.
Relatable? 💀
I didn't get far enough into OP to really know this villain, but your video put a smile on my face
:) Law and Corazon are some of the best characters in One Piece……😭😭😭😭😭 CORAZOOOOOON!
Doflamingo is more than likely the most prominent example you can take from any anime of how just because you have gone through things no one should ever be faced with doesn’t excuse you for being unhinged in how cruel you’re acting
The panel when Luffy is fighting doffy and he’s speaking about how he feels he’s suffocating. It’s just top tier 🤩
This is one of the best villain analysis videos I've seen.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SMILES.
Doflamingo: ''Why so serious, Luffy?''
As a guy who loves the franchise but is so far behind that playing catchup is legitimately horrifying, I much appreciate a vid on one of the major villains like this - especially a particularly good one (altho it's not like OP has a shortage of good ones haha).
one of the 7 warlords
king of Dressrosa
and his drip ... unmatched
It is all about the smiles 😊
But on a serious note.
PLEASE cover Toguro for
Yu Yu Hakusho, he is
Possibly one if the most complex villains I have seen.
Man loses everything and becomes they thing he hates most, desiring death but doing his damndest to insure that death never comes.
Amazing video and i agree with too much sympathetic villains recently
I would love to see a Blackbeard video as well.
Oh and...Its all about the smiles
Dofalmingo has the mindset of that one kid who wasn't allowed back to the cool kids club.
great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Don't forget the smiles, and hopefully Doflamingo might come back one day or we see him again for something
He's interesting yet terrifying that gets to my spine. I'll admit when reading his backstory is interesting only to realize he manipulated the audience and the readers with his story that makes you feel conflicted and disturbing.
Nice to see you Char.
Dude is such a bastard and i wouldn't have it any other way. Definitely in the top 10 for one piece villains.
In drip or rags when Dolfi is talking you better be listening
I can see Donflamingo hosting a poetry slam in Enpel Down and totally crushing it tbh.
First...
A Guy with some interesting drip.
Joker: "It's all about the smiles, Batman!"
It’s all about the smiles
…Also I’m pretty sure if you show a character’s elements of sympathy and humanity, that makes them not pure evil by definition. Even though he’s still definitely very evil
it's all about the smiles! i haven't heard the sanji take yet, so i'm very interested to hear it from you!
Speaking of Crocodile, I would love to see you talk about him in your next episode of Villains Done Right!
Never thought I'd see the day when a youtuber doing a discussion video on One piece actually using the eng dub.
why
It's all about the SMILES baby!
Glad to see you talk about OP
ITS ALL ABOUT THE SMILES
You HAVE to talk about Rob Lucci, because I think he's also a great One Piece villain solely because he doesn't want power, fame, wealth, etc. He just wants blood, as said himself. He is a lot different than any other antagonist in one piece. Some other good antagonists would be Katakuri and Judge, they would be cool too.
Don’t forget the smiles
“Will justice prevail, of course it will! Because the side who wins will decide the meaning of justice!!!!!”
It's all about the Smiles!
Its all about the smiles!!
All this doflamingo dub I’ve never been exposed to is frying my brain
I hope to see a video on Licht in the future definitely one of my favorite villains in shonen
choosing the english dub made it slightly unenjoyable but thanks for this review, found it well put :)
why is it always sub elitist ruining everything
Happy birthday Kamen
I have some Suggestions of Great Villains you can do If you like.
-Albert wesker(Resident evil franchise)
-William afton(Five nights at freddy)
-Monokuma(Danganronpa)
-Frieza(Dragon ball franchise)
-Johann liebert(Monster)
-Tomaru shigaraki(My hero academia)
Doflamingo's smile is so rad it could set off a Geiger meter.
Its all about the smiles
its all about the smiles.
I *100%* need to see that sanji vid, this one was SO good! 👀❤️
Its all about the smiles!
His messed up relationship with his crew is also very interesting, they invalidate his beliefs and make excuses for him while he protects them ,
he also manipulated specific traits about each of them that keep him his crew like with baby 5 and her inability to say no or how butters up diamente’s ego
but the other side of it is shown in his relationship with Trebol , it feels like a cult but the cultist is so enamored by the fact his believers invalidate his beliefs that he can’t seperate himself from them , which is why he does show care and protection to them when he can, a messed up form of found family contrasting with luffys found family in his crew too
It's all about the smiles!
Doffy is literally one of me favorite villains aside from black beard and kaido, he feel like that one rapper guy that had the rainbow teeth along with his tattoos
It’s all about the Smiles 😈😈😈
Nice analysis
I would like to see a video about the Decepticons from Transformers Prime.
Saw a cosplay on ig and wanted a tldr here. Thanks man
Really liked the Sly 3 music in the background :D
IT'S ALL ABOUT THOSE SMILES!
Loved your video and I hope you make the sanji one
ITS ALL ABOUT THE SMILES
the english version of bon voyage kills me
Ya know, just because you doubt we will reach your like goal for that Sanji/Doffy comparison vid, we will specifically like bomb it.
ITS ALL ABOUT THE SMILES!
All about the smiles! 😁
Evil and fabulous
