This compares to symphonic compositions in classical music. I love it. Maynard finishes his vocals half way through the song. Adam picks up the lyrical quality of the remainder of the song.
Also, the video in the CD case; Recusant Ad Infinitum, that plays through twice, is the same length as the song
They played this and an early version of Invincible in the middle of 2019, months before the album release, and later had the silhouette of a pyramid behind them. When Adam's explosive lead started, a kinda glowing red face armour symbol came on, with lasers protruding from it.
I was there at Welcome to Rockville in Florida when they premiered those 2 songs.
"Maynard and the Boys" I both love and hate this.
Also, the wave intro and outro sounds were recorded at Danny's Malibu house.
It's so funny watching guitar players listen to Tool. They are usually like, "cool!", while drummers who are watching are like "cool!?!?!? Just cool!?!?" 😆

Yeah, when Adam goes and plays those two note harmonies or whatever you call it, so tasty. I'm locked in.
There are plenty of guitarists who shred but Adam Jones is the tone king with his precise picking .
Yeah, Adam has been known to use foot pedal synths in other songs, so that could well be the harmonic backing

I'm not British but doesn't "have a go" mean "have sex with?" Lol. I know what you mean though. I'm surprised you liked that one. Little long and thought it might be self indulgent. Unless you're getting used to their style now.
In the context of people, "having a go" means yelling at someone in British 😂 in the context of guitar gear, I think it is safe to say it just means having a go with it.
