I bought a used 2000 Honda CRV in 2002 from a woman who was a good driver and took great care of it. I kept the car til 2023 (240,000 miles). The air condition was the only major problem in the car’s later years.
I had a 2002 CRV but this one was know to have A/C problems. Honda knew certain model and years had A/C problems where you had to replace the whole shebang which would cost thousands of dollars. Honda had a period where people file claims; however, I missed out on it. Even without the A/C, I really miss her (the CRV).
I have a 2024 Toyota Prius LE And for those of you who don’t know, the toy of Prius is a hybrid and I’ve been getting anywhere between 70 to 80 and sometimes 90 miles per gallon aside from that I think it’s the best looking car out there!
Mazda, has been building alot better vehicles in the last 3 years. They finally got rid of Ford influence, now they just need better dealer network and advertising.
Yes. I love my 2004 Ford Focus Wagon. It's old but it has been a wonderful mode of transportation. To me, it could use a couple updates but it has been perfect.
We have an 03 Toyota Corolla that runs great & doesn’t have a scratch on it- garaged for years plus an 06 Acura that just flipped 140k miles & still runs like a spotted cat!
My 2012 Honda Odyssey, the deeply regret selling it. It was big, fast, 6 cylinder, great gas mileage (over 400 miles/full tank). My 2020 Toyota Prius, was totaled in a car accident. Aside from being tiny, it was a great car: fast, the best gas mileage (over 500 miles/full tank), cruise control basically drove the car, accident avoidance was the best….except a t-bone….couldn’t avoid that.
The problem with all the fancy cars of the new generation is the massive amount of electronics. Reliability is worse than 50 years ago. if you accidentally stall the engine, it might be that it won't start anymore... Should there be any tiny issue with the software, only an expert can find out. But yes, these cars are for more richer people anyway. Inspections are quite expensive, and the car itself tells you when it's time: every year. Blinking it's lights as an emergency in your front panel all the time. If you wanna skip: warranty lost. So you get completely dependent on the repair shop. Go somewhere just to fix a little issue? No way. They all have internet connection built in, or they will have it as obligatory in the future. All because of your safety. If it gets stolen or alike, very good. And very smart at the other hand. In the future the government will prevent your car from starting, if you don't follow the rules of climate bulIsh!t. Or if you have exceeded your monthly quota of miles that have been assigned to you.
The future is electric casrs. ICE cars are not reliable (look at so many different cars that thir motor desintegrates without warning. Some have steering probles (after 100+ years making car?, Transmission prob;ems even new (8 to 10 speeds is the cause) etc. Cra will be charged by renewables, so there is no need for quotas. An ICE car makes 20 metric tons of polutants per year, n ow multiply for 2-.8 million crs in the US alone (70+ million in the world. The ice has to dissapear or there will be no future for your gransons at all.
I agree. I was a service manager at a new car dealership. These problems you speak of are there, because the " new generation " is LAZY, and wants everything they are not interested in, to do the thinking for them. This electronics problem, is made for the new " plug-in to repair " techs. They would have slightest idea how to set timing or adjust a carburetor. This problem brings more customers back in for repairs, instead of anyone repairing somewhere else. This is the manufacturers to dealer incentive also .
My Mom loves her Honda Civic, but she seems to go to the shop often. My aunt has a Toyota Corolla and when brand new, its front right portion was popping at a seam on their first trip and they also had to stop to repair something else. Even just looking at it, her Corolla was nowhere near the quality of Corolla years ago. But now Ive read reviews saying Honda is slipping in quality too. Corporate greed and lazy workmanship I guess.
Some of course have a lot more problems. They are all listed by makes in the technical servumice warranty (or bulletins) software that car makers, car dealerships and I would think most garages have. They are expensive so you pay royalty fees to use it for every year and they subscribe to it every following year too. They are not recalls but usually what happens is that the problem is very persistent in many cars it could then become a recall. DOT in Washington D.C. has a copy of the software in the NHTSA office which is a small library to the public or used to be. It is a two step process for them which you search on the internet the problem or few problems, mail it to them and they mail you back the actual technical service bulletin. It can be costly too and take a very long time. That was 26 years ago but it hopefully changed. In the technical service bulletins it describes every single problem in details and shows the mechanics how to fix them step by step. Hope this helps..
I just leased a 2024 Rav 4 Prime to get the $6500 dealer incentive EV lease credit. I have to refinance with Toyota once I have paid a specified number of payments. Because this model is few and far between, they charged top dollar and I had to take the car with all upgrades and pricing in order to get the credit. I plan to refi and buy it out at some point this year. I heard the narrator of this video say this car qualifies for the federal EV tax credit. Wondering if I still get the $7500 federal credit for this year when I refi to buy it? I thought if the car was not put together in the US, you don’t qualify to get the federal tax credit. Is that true?
My family has had multiple Rogues over the years. All solid and no issues. As long as all the fluids and filters are changed at the proper time it should deliver a dependable experience.
@ I have a co worker who has over 200k miles on his Rogue, so I don’t doubt they have. I’m not sure I would totally trust them, but you can’t argue with facts.
I wouldn’t buy a Lexus. I had to flag down a cop to get them to give back my keys and return my car (being assessed for trade in) after I had decided not to buy one of their cars. Ended up buying an Acura lx that I held onto for 17 years.
I never hear any mentions Mitsubishi vehicles used to have an old one back in the day I never see them advertised today are they still selling in the United States
I bought a 2016 Optima in 2019 and still have it to this day. I have not had a single issue with it, not a single one. I WILL be upgrading to another Kia when I'm good and ready.
A man and woman I went to church with had a Toyota Prius. It was a used one and I don't know what year it was. They were going to the Walmart in another town and were getting ready to turn, when a car from the area they were going to turn, ramed into them. He was killed and she was injured. So it seems that little Prius wasn't so safe after all. God bless.
@alinasprincesschannel3807 Yes that's true. But a bigger vehicle would have been somewhat safer. I read that some where and it said that the small vehicles don't have as much protection as a larger vehicle which according to the article they can take a hit and you would be somewhat safer. Several weeks later I saw the woman at the post office and she had driven her husband's Dodge Durango. And I thought to myself you both would've been safer in it. Because the woman that had hit them probably would have seen that big of a vehicle. God bless.
Check KIA and Hyundai horn, as they are hard to push to honk - very dangerous. Their sensors are bad. The program is also bad. When combining the sensor and program the safety items are terrible.
They have auto braking, lane assist and blind spot monitoring, what happened to paying attention to your driving and keeping your eyes on the road, people can't drive anymore
Lexus’ grill is so ugly. When they blurred out the most perfect car in the beginning, I knew it was a Lexus because they couldn’t hide that big, ugly grill. Looks like they’re trying to overcompensate for something. 🤔
You are told this by people who have a different agenda. Consumer Reports reaches😢 their conclusions about cars they purchase and test themselves, plus from surveys of members who own these cars.
And all are ugly. Except the Maverick. That 2025 Maverick looks awesome. But none of them can be what I want. Mostly because of no dealer near enough. All vehicle dealerships are too far away for me. I need a close one. But I do hope your selections stand up to your ratings. And that in 10 years, they might still be running. And BTW, no mention of warranties?
List of generic vehicles. Probably good, inexpensive, nothing special. Except of Maverick - they will fit everyone who doesn't really care what to drive from A to B.
Consumer report has become a pice of sht in relation to cars. All year cars are just paid advertisement. Anyn electric vehicle is better than the Toyota Prius. Hybrids were relevant ten years ago. Now their transition part is fasing away with full ev being leased for less than an ICE car. Year 2025 will bring parity of ICE vs electric, while hybrids wil, and will remain more expensice than an ICE car. By 2026 not a sing;le hubrid car will make any sense, To expensive to buy, to prone to fires, and still have an ICE that requires a lot of maintenance,

Mazda 3 is a very beautiful car, Mazda is using beautiful colors, especially the red
Mazda, has been building alot better vehicles in the last 3 years. They finally got rid of Ford influence, now they just need better dealer network and advertising.
@davekeller2798 true, but the Mazda pickup truck was a very good truck

The Corolla will be my next car.
I rented one and found it to be cheaply made. Loud road noise and poor handling.

I love the looks of the newest Prius but it's just too small and too low to the ground for me to get in and out of easily.
@ I didn’t like that part either. But honestly if not driving around 18 wheelers, it was like driving a little space ship.🚀
The list so dominated by Toyota it’s like a Toyota ad. I don’t care, I’ve owned 3 Prius. All perfect.
You can't go wrong with Toyota. Mr Bill
The new Prius Prime is gorgeous. They did a great job designing that car.
Great choice 👌 👍
My brother has an older Prius, or did. Repair costs, when needed, cost exorbitantly.
I also have owned two older Toyota cars, both have excellent and one had over 800,000 miles
One thing lacking in the perfect cars need for a cd player !!!!!
The Camry is a very beautiful car 👍👌
The front looks like cheap plastic.
'Perfect' another one of those words that amount to nothing nowadays.
Without Honda in the list, the report is fake
V6 toyota RAV 4, 2010 and 11.

How come no NISSAN on the list. I have a NISSAN ROUGE n I love it.
Too many CVT failures from that JATCO transmission.
Infiniti is not great either, which is basically a nissan
