There is a reason Mazda is getting some love in the reliability department. I purchased a 2023 Mazda CX-30 new, and the quality of the fit and finish as well as overall driving experience has been superb.
I have owned both and I think the Mazda is better. Here is why. 1. Driving the Mazda is really fun. 2. The Mazda handles really well, sticks to the road. Drive one and see. 3. The interior is Lexus quality, real wood on the top models. High quality leather seats with high quality stitching. The steering wheel also is high quality stitching. 4. The Ultra, direct injection High-Compression Engines for great performance and very good fuel economy. The styling, I know that is subjective but I prefer the lines of the Mazda. 6. The transmission is a very smooth and reliable 6 speed. I own a 2014 Mazda3 which is approaching 100,000 miles. I will never get rid of this vehicle. Also I own a 2019 CX-5 which is turbo charged, so when you need the pop to pass someone you have it. It is the Signature model, fully loaded. I have had no problems with either vehicle. Regular maintenance is something I was taught by my father so I have always done that.
My 2001 Honda Accord 4-CYL ULEV F23A4 engine has just reached 200K miles and still drives like a Lexus. The one thing I don't like about this ULEV model for the stupid California requirement is the oxygen air-fuel sensor. It is extremely hard to find and Honda does not make it anymore! Made-in-China knockoffs on this sensor do not work.
My 2017 Honda Accord V6L has around 225,000km and drives like it is brand new. Everything still works too, even the GPS still has updates, in fact, I only updated the GPS maps last week. Took me all of about 20mins.

@@Doc1855 You should look at the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. You can select gas, hybrid or full electric mode. They were selling gkt in Australia and Europe for at least 12 years before it came to the state in 2018. We have one and have spent a total of $350 on gas in the 17 months we've owned it. Has nearly 40 miles of electric range. Pretty much just use electric around town and hybrid on trips.
@ Mitsubishi’s aren’t readily available in our area. We’d have a 3 hour drive one way to get to a dealer. Mitsubishi was recently bought by Renault and when Nissan was bought by Renault in the early 2000s, Nissan’s quality Tanked. Furthermore we live 30 miles from the city (5 miles from town) up in the mountains of north central Washington state USA. @@Doc1855 Mitsubishi's AWD system is on par, if not better than Subaru. I would argue it is the best out there. I have experience with Subaru and Mitsubishi. I live in a hilly and mountainous area and last winter had a "once in a generation" snow and ice storm and our PHEV had no problem traversing our terrain. The only maintenance we have done in 17 months is oil change and tire rotation. 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. Subaru has 5 year 60,000 mile warranty. I understand the problem of distance to the dealership but keep this all in mind.
@ Have you forgotten what I said in my original post? We’re not going to replace our Outback with another Subaru. We’re going to replace it with a Lexus. And I’m certainly not going to drive 6 hours round trip to buy a new car that if it breaks down it’ll have to be towed 3 hours just to get to the dealer. Mitsubishi products are not very reliable here in the USA and their resale value is in the toilet.
I have been Toyota loyal for quite some time, but was challenged to test drive a Mazda. I fell in love with the drive and the superior interior. Lovin' my Mazda!
@@mhannanamit Who cares? They don't make decisions on the manufacturing of these vehicles. Toyota has been going downhill for well over a decade. The video's summary is that you can only be better when you are partly owned by Toyota. You need to make it clear in the video that Subaru is partly owned by Toyota, and Lexus is more or less Toyota. Even Mazda has gotten better lately because of its association with Toyota.
All true However one remark in regard to Subaru .Here in Europe they come only with low power low torque kind of performance castrated engines with 11 to 12 sec 0-100km/h acceleration It is absolutely no go for our likings. Otherwise I agree with you Subarus are incredibly reliable cars

Honda Are Great Cars, BUT, almost every Honda dealer adds on thousands of $ worth of WORTHLESS DEALER SUPPLIED ADDITIONS. I DO NOT WANT ETCHED GLASS, STOLEN CAR TRACKING AND OTHER USELESS ADDONS.
Their dealers are great at "bait and switch": advertise a stripped down car with no or little add-ons for a great price that mysteriously was "just sold", but they have one just like it except for a few add-ons. That drive the price up exponentially! 🤨

Lexus then Toyota at the top of the list Mazda has gotten better although at one time they were owned by Ford. Subaru is a very good car but only because it has Toyota components the Korean car makers have not caught up to Toyota and currently have a new model that has Xavior transmission issues.
Yes……….Because of their intelligent design and machining, Japanese cars are better built and hold up much better! There’s a que I use and it is called QDR! Quality, Dependability and Reliability! This is what you get from Japanese Vehicles!
Both Subaru and Mazda are partially owned by TOYOTA!! So does Lexus. Honda is also good - my 2001 Odyssey runs well after 150,000 Miles. The engine is great, although the transmission had to be replaced TWICE, each after about 60,000 miles.!
Sorry to hear about your bad luck with your transmissions. My 1999 Odyssey now has well over 300,000 on the original transmission. It threw a code on weak third shift solenoid, and I replaced that at around 200k, but that was it. I'm pretty sure many Honda trans. were replaced when the problem didn't dictate full replacement. Drain and fill on fluid is an absolute must every 30k but that's allI ever did.
@@JimFrye-ub3kq The first transmission failed and Honda replaced it at around 60,000 Miles. The second failed in the same way. I went to a "shade-tree-mechanic" in LA and he replaced a few parts for almost $2000. It's been running well since.

Mazda no longer makes the CX-9, it's been replaced with the CX-90 which I think is made in the US now. CX-5 isn't as smooth riding as the CX-9 likely because of the shorter wheel base, but it's still nice none the less.
I agree with you except honda. They are not close to toyota or mazda. I know many people who have hondas paint stripped away in few years and were not helped by honda company for defective manufacturing.
I have an 2021 subaru impreza sport hatchback in manual transmission. Althrough I would have liked an little more horse power and an 6th gear I love driving this car which is super simple to work on, and or modify. The practicality of the hatchback and, with its seats folded down has "More" cargo space than the Honda Civic. Mainly I love the engine & transmission feedback to the shifter knob.

I’m looking to update and have been looking at midsize suvs but I found that the Midsize GM are built in Mexico and S Korea. I won’t be buying any of them.
SUBARU engines usually develop coolant leaks from underside of the head. it is the FIRST THING a trading dealer will look at. Hard to work on too. Mazda NOW are mostly TOO TECHO and not easily serviced. TOO MUCH TO GO WRONG! MANY HONDA cars here have disappeared but same year TOYOTA's are still running on the roads. HONDA BRAKES are good but need frequent COSTLY REPLACEMENT. HONDA COST MORE TO SERVICE. Lexus are too costly. If you can by an AUTO and NOT A CVT you are in front for a start.
There is 1 vehicle that is better in my opinion. I have owned both Toyota’s and Mazda’s and the Mazda is better in my opinion. They are more fun to drive, handle better and have like Toyota, great engines. The SkyActiv engine is ultra high-compression, direct injection. Which means you get more power and better fuel economy. I have a 2014 Mazda3 with almost 100,000 miles and a 2019 CX-5 Signature model with only 60,000 miles. The CX-5 is s fully loaded model. Have had not a single problem with either one. I have no plans to ever get rid of either vehicle. Both the CX-5 Mazda and the RAV-4 Toyota have received 5 star overall safety ratings. The Mazda3 has received 5 out of 5 stars safety ratings also.
Toyota's days are numbered. It'll be a dinosaur within a decade. Its falling sales volume and gargantuan size debts will bring it down sooner than later. ❤from Indonesia
I have owned 4 Toyotas, two were the very special Corolla GT16s, So fast, bulletproof motor could and did race a 911 down a country road and win. OK they did destroy their gearboxes when thrashed my a Maniac because the gearbox was designed to take mum and the kids to school and back. Mazda MX5 so simple, so light a work of art. Subaru I have not owned but my best mate has had 3 he loves them, before that he had BMWs, then Volkswagen Turbo GTIs which spilled their guts at low mileage and $$$. What you don't really mention is Mercedes. That is what I now run, two of which. I have A Classe E from 2002, 370 000 Km on the clock, it still can do 130 MPH+ in complete luxury has never left me broken down at the side of the road. Taxi drivers tell me it will do 500 000 Km. Now that is Reliable. Then there is the queen Bitch, my Mercedes SL500, That's a 5 litre V8 convertible top of the range does everything. If a cloud goes over the sun and an alert light lights up. The car still drives to the garage, where a Mercedes mechanic takes the keys and after 30 minutes I have a $1000 bill. That is not reliable.
Lexus is a Toyota, rebranded for the US market, Luxury EXport United States. It’s just an ancronym that was used in factory until marketing gurus stole it!
The main thing wrong with some of these is CVT trans, Le Junk! Subaru has gone to the CVT in some cars, Le Junk! Mazda may be the winner, being smarter about CVTS
My opinion about the new Subaru off road vehicle(s) is the fact that I am told that no manual transmission is available. CV "transmissions" are nothing I care to have in any vehicle. My opinion only.
At least here in Europe Mazda & Subaru are a mixed bag. Subaru has had a lot of engine issues, Mazdas tend to rust very badly and there mechanicals are not that sound in some cases. Lexus is an upscale Toyota so no point comparing it to Toyota. Honda WAS great in terms of reliability, not so much anymore.Japanese cars are no longer the dependable workhorses they used to be, but definitely better than European and US rubbish. Nissan once great got destroyed by Renault back in 1999 when they formed that crappy Alliance
Toyota has major equity positions in both Subaru and Mazda. The Camry a few years back was manufactured in the Subaru Indiana plant, and the new Mazda CX-50 is manufactured in the Toyota plant in Alabama. They’re relatives-not competitors.
Only Honda is better than Toyota. Nissan is mixed with Renault. Mazda is mixed with Peugeot. Mitsubishi is also mixed with VW and Renault. Subaru has the worst diesel engine. I must say that Toyota started using 2.2 hdi and 1.6 engines from BMW. So only Honda remained unique.

Toyota has shares in Subaru as well as Mazda. Lexus is Toyota’s luxury line.
@@kaleemansari4314 Should probably sell those shares and invest in improving quality of their Toyotas. They suck right now.
Toyota holds a 20% stake in Subaru Corporation, a 5.1% stake in Mazda, a 4.9% stake in Suzuki, a 4.6% stake in Isuzu...
@@mhannanamit Who cares? They don't make decisions on the manufacturing of these vehicles. Toyota has been going downhill for well over a decade. Over 100,000 2022 and 2023 Toyota Tundras are being recalled due machining debris inside engines. They are replacing over 100,000 engines! I'll never buy a Toyota.
The video's summary is that you can only be better when you are partly owned by Toyota. You need to make it clear in the video that Subaru is partly owned by Toyota, and Lexus is more or less Toyota. Even Mazda has gotten better lately because of its association with Toyota.
All true However one remark in regard to Subaru .Here in Europe they come only with low power low torque kind of performance castrated engines with 11 to 12 sec 0-100km/h acceleration
It is absolutely no go for our likings. Otherwise I agree with you Subarus are incredibly reliable cars
I would like to hear a comparison between Lexus and Acura both of them are upscale versions and would like to know the differences in the liability between the two of them
Honda may be a close competitor. In fact , it’s not even close. Stick to Toyota (and Lexus)
Accurate commentary. The only iffy one for me is the Mazda and they are improving of late!!!
Iffy? 2014 Mazda 3 S Touring 395K miles. Brakes, coolant, tires, belts. Not much else.
@MYHOMETVMYHOMETV as I said they are getting better, the 323, 626 series had a bad rep.
@@MYHOMETVMYHOMETV
I have a 2014 Mazda3. Never a problem. I only have just shy of 100k. I also have a 2019 CX-5, signature model, turbo charged, SkyActiv engines. Best cars there are in my opinion.
Could you comment on the Korean automobiles in comparison to Japanese cars ??
Makes me proud to own my third Subaru!!!
Ditto! Also on 3rd Subaru!
@@TimothyForbesXXI My daughter has had 2. Bought first used at 90k and traded it at nearly 190k for another used Subaru with 80k. Still going strong. That's all she'll buy.
Lexus then Toyota at the top of the list Mazda has gotten better although at one time they were owned by Ford. Subaru is a very good car but only because it has Toyota components the Korean car makers have not caught up to Toyota and currently have a new model that has Xavior transmission issues.
@@JTKels
Ford owned only a part of Mazda.
@
Yes, thank you although when Ford owned them, all their cars looked exactly like Ford vehicles and may have had Ford engines
❤Honda is my choice 👌
Not the new CRV’s , 1.5 litre turbo engine, no thanks! Always issues with turbo. CVT, is another let down. 😮
Yes……….Because of their intelligent design and machining, Japanese cars are better built and hold up much better! There’s a que I use and it is called QDR! Quality, Dependability and Reliability! This is what you get from Japanese Vehicles!
Toyota.
My xtrail 2004 until running in good condition, 20 years already
WE OWNED A 2002 ODYSSEY, WE SOLD IT AT 60K MILES AS I WAS AFRAID OF A TRANS FAILURE,
GREAT STRONG ENGINE, WEAK TRANS, TYPE IN HONDA ODYSSEY TRANS FAILURES ABOVE, SCARY
OUR SONS WENT OUT AT 59K.COULDN'T TRUST IT, GOT A 2012 SIENNA, 75K LATER, STILL RUNNING
STRONG.
WOW! I didn't know that A.I. was named Scott and could smile. Just love the "Shatneresque" (see Paul Harrel) pauses. 😊
I am driving my third Kia Optima. Over 100,000 miles each on the first 2. Only 1 repair, under warranty at 92,000 miles. Aside from that, only tires, wipers, and scheduled services.
Whatever, I love my Fortuner😀😀
The best thing is to check out such brands and but what you like, instead of looking at reliability rankings as the reason to buy.
There is nothing better than Toyota even Toyota it self 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@khalilabukabeer815 They just recalled over 100,000 Tundras from 2022 and 2023 for engine failure. They are going to replace all of those engines because engine filings inside the motors are causing engine failures. How Toyota has fallen.
@@alraguc The models with reduced reliability may be because they were designed by American engineers at Toyota of America and manufactured by American workers at plants in the United States.
In Japan, such problems do not occur.
2012 RAM 4X4 and 96,000 miles with no problems. Rusty and Trusty FOR SALE 😎
Congratulations, and consider yourself LUCKY!
Mazda 3
We have a 2024 Mazda CX-5 premium turbo in machine gray metallic. The CX-5 is still made in Japan. Before we got the CX-5 we had a 2022 CX-9 turbo carbon edition. Mazda no longer makes the CX-9, it's been replaced with the CX-90 which I think is made in the US now. CX-5 isn't as smooth riding as the CX-9 likely because of the shorter wheel base, but it's still nice none the less.
New hondas are not as reliable as Toyotas. Multiple ppl I know have issues with their honda
I have 2016 forester. Very dependable.
Driving a 2021 corolla it is so lovely smooth engine is superb just take care and always on time with oil change and transmission oil.
You obviously don’t think that any US manufacturer can make a reliable product.
ARE U JUST FINDING THAT OUT?
Not for my money.
@ I am a GM retiree and have been buying GM for over 50 years. My 2014 Tahoe has over 80000 trouble free miles and I can’t say the same thing about all previous vehicles from GM that I have owned. I’m looking to update and have been looking at midsize suvs but I found that the Midsize GM are built in Mexico and S Korea. I won’t be buying any of them.
That should have read CAN not can’t.
Lexus is a Toyota. Therefore Toyota is the number 1 reliable vehicle.
The fact they use Toyota as the gold standard sez it all
Subaru Mazda Honda Lexus
My previous Honda Civic had 500 000 km. Zero repairs and low maintenance. 🔴
Sorry but Toyota is #1.Everithing is second.Lexus is Toyota...
How many of these so called perfect autos, Have crappy CVT transmissions?
None.
CRV has CVT!
@@kenboulton6447 The only manufacturer with horrible CVTs is Nissan.
Subaru is partly owned by toyota.
In Mauritania where breakdowns could be life threatening most of the cars are Toyota.
Food for thought
Honda is not same as it was few years ago and I wouldn't trust Subaru's VCT transmission.
No car is better than a Toyota…fact period.
Don't be angry, it is what it is!there are other better brands in the market, the monopoly is over😂😂
There is 1 vehicle that is better in my opinion.
That covers all of top 5 Japanese car makers
Define reliability to help many who are fazed by its meaning.
I love Suburu. But you barely even see this car brand in my country "Nigeria" and I do not know why
sounds like a dealership opportunity!
Subaru has head gasket issues because they redesigned the engine. That was very reliable.
Then you have their wonderful transformation.
No thanks.
Narration on this is terrible. Get a real person to do it.
The main thing wrong with some of these is CVT trans, Le Junk! Subaru has gone to the CVT in some cars, Le Junk! Mazda may be the winner, being smarter about CVTS
Thanks u sir
My opinion about the new Subaru off road vehicle(s) is the fact that I am told that no manual transmission is available. CV "transmissions" are nothing I care to have in any vehicle. My opinion only.
You. Are. Not. Scott. You. Are. Robot.
Right, buy any Japanese cars, which are better then any other car brands of different countries.
Škoda rules!
What about Suzuki brand?
I own a 2017 Kia K900 and just replaced the tires. It's the only expense I have incurred other than gas and oil changes.
Kia is known for poor quality engines and transmissions, would never buy one, they are cheaper for a reason!
Lexus IS the high brand of Toyota!
Who are you and why does your opinion matter? Subaru still blows head gaskets.
I don’t know about that…218,000 miles on my 2018 Crosstrek with no head gasket issues.
Subaru is ok I don’t think better than Toyota because I currently own both of the brands
Absolutely sick of this same AI-generated voiceover and content on far too many UA-cam videos.
Sorry, you forgot to comment on the cvt transmission issues that most of your choices offer.
NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSIONS ARE VERY PROBLEMATIC, ASK THE MAN THAT OWNS ONE.
Lexus and Toyota use eCVTs. Not the same as a CVT.
@@johnredpath5821 Only on hybrids.
I have two Mazdas, one a 2014 one a 2019. Both solid. No problems with either vehicle at all.
Better than Toyota ? 0 chances
Better designs inside or outside based on personal bias , for sure some dont like they'r designs
Mitsubishi better than Toyota, Datsun or Nissan better than Toyota, Citroen better than Toyota, Honda Suzuki also good
Please use real people for narration, AI cannot pronounce words correctly.
Toyota has major equity positions in both Subaru and Mazda. The Camry a few years back was manufactured in the Subaru Indiana plant, and the new Mazda CX-50 is manufactured in the Toyota
plant in Alabama. They’re relatives-not competitors.
@@ThomasMcCarthy-w8l Unless.Mazda and Toyota share parts, the fact that they are assembled in the same plant is meaningless.
Oh please, save it! Stopped watching when I saw Subaru. They have been notorious for head gasket issues. Will never watch your videos again
Isn't it ironic that not a single American car was mentioned? 😮
Oh yeah. MUCH better than USA or European brands.
And Toyota uses BMW engines!
Subaru lacks professional car designers! They have to improve the design!
Lexus is better, but the other 3 are not … hands down.
