      Yeah I totally agree with you. I do restos and customs of redlines. The price that some of these online auctions get for filler cars is crazy.

    Nice job on the hood. It takes patience if you want it to be perfect. I didnt thought of that method of holding the pins in place though. Thanks for sharing. Love the paint too.

    Nice job on the paint Paul as always...there's a few people commenting here about their bad experiences with replacement hoods so allow me to offer some advice that they should find helpful:
    1- as Paul mentioned these cast items are made from. Softer material...**NEVER GO NEAR THEM WITH A DREMEL...EVER**
    2 - You should NEVER file down the hinges on these delicate replacement hoods, instead focus on enlarging the hinges of the car itself...easily accomplished with files and hobby knifes
    3 - one person here asked if there was another alternative....there is, stay away from any beater missing a hood....or any cast piece
    It's July 2021 and the redline shop has 0 cast pieces available, SC redlines stopped offering them too
    Thank you

    I have not replaced a hood on any vehicle yet but the paperclip idea is awesome. I did not know the thing about the hoods being different lengths depending on where the car was made, that is good to know thank you. Also the Mustang turned out beautiful brother, I just love that blue it is so awesom.

    From my experience? These redline shop metal parts are TOTAL garbage. I wouldn't pay a penny for one. I had one *crumble* in my fingers. Just get another car for parts. Anyway... NICE job my friend. The paper clip idea is awesome and WORKS 🙂

    Looks fantastic Paul. I am wanting to try to convert a olds 442 police cruiser to an "Olds 442" car for my collection. I had 3 growing up and gave them to my nephews in the 80s. They got played with. Lol. Have yu done this? I am curious to see how you would handle dealing with the sirens on the roof and smoothing them out. Thx Dan

    • @DiecastGraveyard
      @DiecastGraveyard  19 днів тому +1

      Dan: I think you would be better off using a maxi taxi or a fire chief car. That way you can just file off that little piece of metal on top and not have to worry about filling the hole with the police cruiser.

  • @ftroner4644

    Nice job, as usual. Any idea what the metal is that's used on the hoods, is it pewter? Have any luck getting your glass to be blue? Keep up the good work.

    • @DiecastGraveyard
      @DiecastGraveyard  2 роки тому +1

      It’s actually Bismuth. It has a very low melting point and it is a little softer than most metals. The reason being is that it’s low melting point allows you to pour the metal into rubber balls without the mold melting.
