  • Ride more and ride longer! Wearing safety / Riding gear while riding BMX is one way to ensure more longevity to your BMX life.
    I've been wearing The Shadow Conspiracy's Super Slim V2 knee pads and Shinners Shin Guards for a few months now and feel I've had enough falls/experience with them to give a confident review.
    I've used a few different BMX knee pads and shin guards throughout the years and I swear by wearing pads while riding. These have been a welcome replacement for my old pads and I am happy to bring you this review to hopefully help you make an informed purchasing decision!

      U guys are my new favourite brand I’m getting symbol wheels full shadow knee elbow and shin pads. I would get a full face if u guys made one as I can’t ride without one. I believe that bmxers deserve a full face helmet designed for riding bmx and not mtb for that bit more specification. You guys would definitely do the job great if you made one. :)

      @The Shadow Conspiracy How do you measure out the leg for both thease pads, I'm going to have to do an online purchase, I'm thinking its a small knee pad but a large shin, wich makes no sense. Where are all the measurements taken on the leg?? and where is a chart to reference???

    Great video! I Left my shin gaurds in the gear bag, and it got me two dissolving sutures, and 16 Staples! Pedals with metal pins REQUIRE shin guards!

    I've been running the exact same setup for a few months now, and it's my favorite pad set up so far after riding for almost 20 years. My only gripe is with the kneepads, the seams for the canvas top/kneecap area blew out after the first session

    • @Brant_Moore

      Even wearing them under pants?? That's crazy. Maybe they're a size too small

  • @orangeblue3531

    I have both these pads. The knee pads are ok. A little bulky to wear under jeans, but that's relative to leg girth and jean tightness I guess. With the right (or wrong!) combination, you could potentially end up looking like a park rider from the late 2000s - early 2010s. Think oversized tank dresses and girl jeans over their pads ala Harry Main.... ok, if that's what some people are still into.
    I have the previous shadow knee pads with no straps and some colony knee pads. They both slip like your old pads because of no silicone gripper strip like your pointed out, but I found a cool hack. Get some silicone caulk from the hardware store and apply a bead to the inseam of your pads. Works like a charm.
    As for the shin pads, I found the plastic mold way too uncomfortable. Because I have thick calves or my tibia is thick, the radius of the mold at the bottom was too tight so it wouldn't sit flush on my shin. They'd just pinch and cause pain, so I took out the molds. Which brings me to my last point. Pads get sweaty, so we need to wash them before they stink. Taking the plastic mold out before washing and putting them back in after proved to be a pain because they decided to incorporate their shadow coffin design into the stitching of the insert pocket. The mouth of the pocket was a bit small for the mold. You'd have to force it in which stresses the stitching thus reducing the lifespan of the pads.
    Last tip, try wearing the shin pads over the lower part of the knee pads rather than under it. I found that worked better for me, and it might work better for some people.
    I've owned so many pads, maybe I should design my own🤔🤔🤔
    Question: Would you ever wear these pads with shorts on while out riding? Dare ya. Video or it didn't happen.

  • @user-go7in7zv7r
    @user-go7in7zv7r 4 місяці тому

    The shin guards could use some improvements like longer straps and protection at the side where your calf is but overall great pads, way better than the invisalites which are complete garbage. For anyone interested in the knee pads or elbow pads do note that the padding inside breaks down or splits after heavy use which has happened to me with the knee pads & elbow pads but mind you I've had them for 3 years so it's not a huge deal breaker.

    • @boermed
      @boermed 3 роки тому +1

      @@Brant_Moore I think Shadows prices are pretty good considering the amount of testing and research they've put in . I've been looking at ankle shin and knee pads and I have to say the ones I've seen are about the same quality as the Shadow but in most cases twice the price . I think I'll go with Shadow they are a respected brand and they aren't going to just put any old crap out on the market

    The shadow guards are great for park. Only issue I have is not with the guards but finding jeans skinny enough (especially in the ankle) that also have a lot of stretch to accommodate BMX and the pads. A lot,of skills jeans either are skinny in the ankle but don’t stretch enough for BMX and these pads or stretch a lot but not skinny enough in the ankle.

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  3 роки тому +3

      Walmart has perfect jeans for riding. They’re the George Slim Straight jeans. They’re only $15, they updated them so now they’re mega stretchy, and the fit perfect with pads. I really really like them

    • @jakp8777
      @jakp8777 3 роки тому +2

      @@Brant_Moore I’ll have to try them. Looking for jeans that are skinny and stretchy everywhere. I use the jeans to help hold the pads in.
      Used to buy Cheap Monday jeans but they are discontinued now. There’s also the Fox dagger but they are really heavy and hot plus the new version isn’t stretchy and has a poor fit.

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  3 роки тому +2

      Yea man at least worth a trip to the local Walmart to try on a pair. I have a bunch of them from before they made them stretchy and now that I have some of the new ones I don’t even like wearing the old ones

    • @jakp8777
      @jakp8777 3 роки тому +1

      @@Brant_Moore that would be a good video to make- the perfect riding pant. They’re really hard to find. I want to ask pros like Jeremy Malott or Logan Martin what jeans they wear.
      Perfect riding jean is; Black, skinny everywhere, stretchy, really skinny in the ankle, cool/thin.
      Biggest problem with the fox dagger is they thought durability was the most important thing. That made them hot and not really stretchy. Durability is nice, but scratches and rips are unavoidable with bmx.

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  3 роки тому +1

      I actually do have a video about them but that was from before they made the change to stretchy. Being only $15 really helps too. It’s easy to spend that much knowing you’re going to destroy them versus $50 or more for the same result
