Post about helmets: dougsterbob.com/2021/01/05/be...
Using a BJJ rash guard or other spandex as an under-layer is a hot tip. Thanks, and great video.
Good coverage, as usual, Doug! Lycra is one thing you don't often hear a BMX rider talk about, but we do indeed wear it! Head to toe, I wear a Shadow Featherweight helmet, occasionally wear hard-cap elbow pads, a velcro under-garment belt with ample hip protection, TSG hard-cap knee pads and Lyrca under-shorts with tailbone padding. Don't usually were gloves but ordered a cheap pair of Fox branded ones from eBay cuz my new BSD Passenger grips don't appear to be wearing in and reducing in slip any time soon, lol. Should always wear a helmet, cuz you just never know when you're going down next but it's inevitable, right? Maybe you don't hit your head, maybe you do next time. I see way too many young kids hit their heads at skateparks.
What do you think about the gloves so far??
@@Dougsterbob I only got them in the mail today but rode for a few hours this afternoon and they were great! Felt a bit awkward having not worn gloves in forever but I'll be used to them in a few days. So far, so good!
Very useful, thanks.
POC VPD 2.0 for knees.
Fuse shinwhips.
Soccer elbow pads.
Protec helmet, Fist gloves.
This is a solid list!!
Been looking into getting some protective wear. Need to get some Spandex though. Makes a lot of sense.
The more you protect when you're young, the longer you can ride when you're older.
It’s a life saver!
"Measure your thing" Done🥳
I sometimes use hip pads, but always use shin and knee pads, Bmx gloves cause I hate blisters and when my hands get really sweaty and slippery and most def, I use a helmet. If you youngins get a helmet, make sure it's certified.
yooo whats up vic! love the input, I dont hear of many other people using hip pads!!
Fuse pads have been sold out basically everywhere in the US for months online.
On source bmx in stocks rn and all of them are in stocks also
Any elbow pads recommendations?
I got shadow shins guards I like them. Need to get there knees also, I have triple 8 but i think they a are more suited for rollerblading and skateboarding
Usually, any knee pads are better than none. May as well were them until you can get better ones, right?
@@kirkwickham3336 oh I plan on it
The in isolate shin guards are great since they are so low profile
You look familiar, did you ride once at a jam called chip your tooth jam in Santa Fe New Mexico ?
Yessir like 2014 or 2015 haha I know a lot of the homies up there
Such a good bmx video! When is your next one?
Shadow conspiracy is deff the best overall protection gear for BMX
I agree
Fuse protects more.
So today I looped out and fell on my back and banged my elbow. 😭😩. What are your thoughts on elbow pads? Did you ever wear them?
I don't mean this in a bad way, but who cares about others opinion. You want to protect your bones and be able to ride longer. I say get them. I use shin guards and they've saved my shins many times. Don't care how I look with them or if others use them or not.
What about wrist guards?
hummm I wonder 💭 if I could do the spandex thing ? Maybe I could put my knee pads on then put the spandex on I got these G form knee pads 60$ and they super grip your legs with a crazy gasket like you almost need to get in your boxers to get them on . I got shadow shinner shin pads but thanks for the info
I hear really good things about gsport! The technology is so cool
@@Dougsterbob definitely worth the money 💰
Hey man, for a 5'7" guy, would you recommend a 20.4 top tube or 20.7? Chainstay would be 12,7. I want a responsive bike, i just cant decide between the two sizes.
Either would be fine if you want something responsive and snappy. If you feel you're still growing, probably go with the 20.7" What bike/frame are you looking to get?
@@kirkwickham3336 the killabee k4 by total. Im gonna stay short😅 i bought a complete with a 21" top tube, and i feel like its to big for me
@@zozocod That's a nice frame! You're right, it may be a bit big for you. If it genuinely does feel awkward to you, consider something smaller like the 20.7" or even the 20.4" you've mentioned. I'm 6'2" and ride a 21.1" toptube to give you some reference.
@@kirkwickham3336 thanks man, im getting it in about a month, hopefully ill be able to decide by that time. Maybe an other option would be the hyper indy, also 20.4 but the chainstay on that bike is 13.2. On my current it is 13.25, and i cant really manual it. I dont know if its because of the long top tube or not but yeah😅
@@zozocod Have you been able to manual on previous bikes? 13.2"/13.25" should have a nice balance point for manuals.
Shadow has the Invisalign
Spandex is hot. No way is there technology to make it cooler than not wearing it. I just don't get it. My pads don't slip. I took my time, ordered and returned, and tried a lot of things.
Dude love your videos, but u gotta do something about sound quality, better setting, mic or better location
Ok-throw him some financial support then.
Doug was in a car park or somethin'. His sound is usually very good/clear. Though, I had no problems understanding him in this video.
Sounds perfect to me
Damn haha
1. Never hold back on the constructive comments. Even if it bums me out I love to hear it so I can improve haha
2. I use a compression to bring the levels up but I really have no idea what I’m doing with audio editing so I might have over compressed haha I’ll work on it!!
Hey!
Yooooo
Third like
You dont need elbow pads
Why don't you film your videos at home?
I’m bored with the in my room videos 😂
I’m a girl how spandex
