  • Join me on a musical journey as I revisit “The Wind That Shakes the Barley,” a classic Irish folk song 🍀 from the 19th century written by Robert Dwyer Joyce, known for its evocative tale of love and sacrifice during the Irish Rebellion of 1798. With a new arrangement by Sebastian Heuckmann, this version brings a contemporary twist to the timeless melody.
Interestingly, my name, Başak, means “barley” in Turkish🌾, reflecting the song’s symbolic connection to resilience and continuity. This song was my very first vocal cover almost 20 years ago 🙈, and I am thrilled to share a new rendition that highlights my growth as an artist 🥲. With this rendition of "The Wind That Shakes the Barley", I light the first flame of my new solo crossover act, paving the way for a unique blend of musical influences 🔥 .
I hope you enjoy this performance and appreciate the powerful legacy of this song.
