lee has always had a funny sense of humor! their both goofing off but in between playing some beautiful music! two great artists doing what they love. am so greatfull their still here to share their art with us!
Weird! Two old guys goofing' off and having FUN in a wonderfully intimate setting. Konitz sounds quite rusty, but very charming! Didn't know he ever did Scat! I heard him mouth the exact notes to "Hot House" here. Very, Very FREE and spontaneous recital. Solal is extremely unique; Huge range and broad reach. A GREAT one. Thanks to David Tepfer, the son of Sandy, who taught me biology at U of Oregon in the 1950's, for posting this. It was a very special event.

Concert privé à domicile à Paris. D'où le petit nombre de spectateurs. Dan Tepfer, pianiste, présente avant Claude Carrière, journaliste radio et producteur de jazz français. J'étais à ce concert. Je suis heureux de le retrouver.
I taped a Jazz Alive off NPR in the early 80s or maybe it was called the American Jazz Festival and they paired these two cats for their uncanny rhythm. Lee ( Warne Marsh) and studied under Lennie Tristano who arguably had a different approach than Charlie Parker. Martial Solal is actually Algerian and has that influence also, making this pairing interesting .

Found out Solal is a Jewish guy from Muslim Algeria! He likes to change keys as he proceeds .Evans did this often, especially on "Donny Boy."

Well, I'm glad they had a chance to present this highly planned and well rehearsed program. It's also swinging like crazy.
Are you being facetious?
