    I have a small business making cold process (from scratch) soap and I just want to tell you all NOT to put stuff like oats or lemon peel in soap. When you go to use it, the water will rehydrate the food items and then it will start to rot in your bar! Use things like coffee seeds, apricot seed powder or chia seeds if you want to as they won’t rehydrate 👍🏼

    • @alexiscolby9415
      @alexiscolby9415 3 роки тому +11

      Exactly. I used make soaps many moons ago (cold process as well) and watching this is so misleading because of the mould and bacteria issues as soon as the soap comes in contact with water. I've not tried the chia seeds but ground coffee and very well dried lavender buds but Im normally careful about what I use. A lot of organic matter may look pretty but for soap best to be simple and safe.

      Soap Garden Hi blackwidow 81 this is not soap made from Cold Process! This is soap base called Melt & Pour! There are a lot of additives that cannot be added to soap even though people do it! There are a lot of soap videos for beginners in cold process & melt & pour! Here are a few Bramble Berry, Lovin’ Soap Studio & The Nerdy Farm Wife just to name a few there are many more on you tube! I make both Cold Process & Melt & Pour! To answer your question Melt & Pour soap has to harden this can take up to 4-6 hours! Once it has harden it has to be wrapped in cellophane this will keep it from sweating! Putting a string around it will not keep it fresh & if you add food additives that really is a whole another story! I hope this helps!

    Without the lye in the soap making process , exactly how safe is this soap from bacterial fungus ? How long is the shelf life without lye ?
