There hasn't been a real NBA rivalry since the Lakers and Kings in the early 2000s but that was nothing compared to the 80s and 90s that had Lakers-Celtics, Celtics-76ers, Celtics-Pistons, Pistons-Bulls, Bulls-Cavaliers, Bulls-Knicks, Knicks-Pacers, and Knicks-Heat. Some would say the Spurs and Lakers were a rivalry but it wasn't as heated as any of the 8 I listed before that.
@@MF13024 Lakers-Spurs wasn't heated though like a lot of the 80s and 90s rivalries I mentioned. The Lakers-Kings rivalry was one-sided but there was definitely some animosity there. The Bulls-Knicks and the Bulls-Cavs were one-sided but those were also rivalries.
The Pistons were stacked. Isiah Thomas HOFer, Dennis Rodman HOFer, Joe Dumars HOFer, Bill Laimbeer 4x allstar, Adrian Dantley 6x allstar, Mark Aguirre 3x allstar, Vinnie "The Microwave" Johnson, John "Spider" Salley, come on. How did MJ stop from being bullied? He bulked up, got in players faces (notably Starks), and humiliated em' by taking them to the rim! How did Stockton stop being bullied? Got into players' faces, and elbows, elbows, and elbows. Bird? Never hesitated to throw punches. How did Robert Parrish stop being bullied? He learned from Bird... throw punches! How did Pippen stop being bullied from a guy 5" shorter and 20 lbs lighter than him? Lay on the floor for a minute or two. The Knicks basically learned from the Pistons on how to bully Pipp and get away with it. Love him or hate him, have to admire Starks. Undrafted, he was in the CBA for a few years, went to the Knicks tryout, got clocked by Ewing in practice, and then learned that if he was to make the team, he had to play with a chip on his shoulder, play physical D, and never be afraid to shoot the ball.
