Do some research before you come on public spaces to speak on anything The oyo empire had every Yoruba states under it and other external states in Nigeria like niger state. It also spread as far down to Cameroon, benin republic, Togo, Ghana, Niger, sierra leone, Dahomey, mali, bukinafaso and cotonu. Benin was never an empire but a kingdom. That's why there's only one state to it and only few benin speakers. Get your facts right!
I'll recommend the book "African Cultures and Societies Before 1885" by Ekechi et al. The chapter, "Kingdoms of West Africa: Benin, Oyo and Asante" should be very enlightening.
History is unconcerned with your emotions. Your animosity towards the Yorubas will not alter historical facts. The Ife Prince, who founded the Benin kingdom and established it as a principality, also founded Oyo. He left his infant son, Eweka, in Benin and ruled Oyo himself. Before Oranmiyan the Great's conquest, Ogiso was merely an uncivilized chiefdom, with no archaeological, cultural, or historical relevance. Notably, Benin was historically referred to as a kingdom, not an empire. Benin's renown stems from its sculptures, and historical and archaeological records show that its artisans learned this art from the Ife kingdom. Nigeria's actual empires were the Kanem-Borno and Oyo empires. Know this and know peace!

Go and research that, it is not the other way round Nri is widely asserted to be the motherland and cradle of the Igbo ethnicity. It is also generally believed and widely accepted that Eri is the father of Nri. The origin of Eri however, is vague. One theory goes that Eri was a divine being sent by Chukwu (God), to make peace, cleanse abominations and provide foods for mankind, thus the theory of him descending from the sky. Eri had two wives by the time he arrived at the Ezu Na Omambala confluence, Nneamaku, and Oboli who were the first and second wife respectively. Nneamaku bore five children Nri-Ifikwuanịm-Menri being the first son also known as Nri, Agụlụ, Ogbodudu, Onogu, and Iguedo the only daughter, while Oboli the second wife bore an only child Onoja. Onoja founded present-day Igala in Kogi state[6]. Eri’s first son Nri-Ifikwuanịm begot Agụkwu Nri, Enugwu-Ukwu, Enugwu-Agidi, Nọfịa, and Amọbia. His sister Iguedo begot Ogbunike, Ọkuzu, Nando, Ụmụleri, and Nteje which are known today as the Umu Iguedo clan. Onogu begot Ịgbariam. Eri’s first son Nri-Ifikwuanim was a spiritual priest like his father. He left Aguleri and settled at a thick forest he called Agu-Ukwu Nri[7] which is the present-day Nri Kingdom. Here he engaged in hunting, farming and also performed priestly duties and demonstrated his spiritual prowess just as his father Eri did.

You didn’t talk about the Ogiso dynasty, the kingdom the banished Yoruba prince took over to establish Benin kingdom
How do you all think this people to tell you true stories about anything they have destroyed
No banished yoruba prince took over Benin
Oranmiyan wasn't banished, he came as a conqueror, an agent of the Ife empire
Oranmiyan wasn't banished. He conquered the Ogiso chiefdom as a Prince of Ife.
It simply was never recognized as a Kingdom.
Wrong title as Nigeria didn't exist until 1914.
You are right sir ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Young man, learn instead of thinking, you sound clever. These are part of the ancient Histories of the surface cut out by the colonizers to be called Nigeria, where great ancient civilizations thrived.
Suggest a better title.
Indeed a wrong title.
@@agunaboumuzocha7872 Mumu😅
I see a lot of biafran supporters here, you all are igbos, my view on it is that you want a country of your own, for the igbos, I'm ibibio and i have just one question, WHY?
We want a country where equality and justice is being served. We want a country free from marginalization.
@halleyiyke9100 why not make nigeria that country
Nigeria system is currpt beyond repair@Thamemeguykkk
He meant societies and ethnicities that fall under the Nigerian Nation today
... How were they thousands of years back..
He's not saying we we're Nigerian thousands of yrs ago..
There is no country existing today thats upto 600yrs old.. pls calm down
& Go make ur own from the few vague oral history past down - which is still important 😊
Thank you!
Nigeria was created By Lord Lugard 1914 , stop saying what U don't understand about Nigeria
Ife had no Empire.
Oduduwa, a Benin Prince son of Ogiso Owodo gave Ife the history it has today.
Oduduwa decendants built Benin Empire and Oyo Empire. I am of the Benin stock.
This video is so wrong either out of ignorance or agenda which the latter is more likely. U purposely opted out the Ogiso dynasty the first in the lower niger area and no type in history did any yoruba kingdom occupy Benin from that its not hard to know u have an agenda to fulfil, well reported for misinformation!
History is unconcerned with your emotions. Your animosity towards the Yorubas will not alter historical facts.😂
An Ife Prince founded the Benin kingdom and established it as a principality. Before Oranmiyan the Great's conquest, Ogiso was merely an uncicilized chiefdom, with no archaeological, cultural, or historical relevance. Benin's renown stems from its sculptures, and historical and archaeological records show that its artisans learned this art from the Ife kingdom.
@publichealth9470 nobody will read ur novel, the video is wrong and u and the OP trying to rewrite history won't change historical facts. Continue
@@publichealth9470 you say all this about Benin empire with so much confidence but fail to produce evidence of any yoruba kingdom surpassing what the Benin empire accomplished. Everyone can see how desperate some yorubas are to rewrite history, place themselves at the top whilst at the same time failing to provide concrete evidence to match their brouhaha.
@Isiejeme0829 The creator of this excellent video is a foreigner, not Yoruba. Clearly, he rightly sourced information from various academic texts before making the video, as abundant literature exists on the greatness of the Kanem-Borno and the Oyo Empires for those willing to read.
The Great Oyo Empire doesn't need social media misinformation peddled by miscreants like many of you do for the Ogiso chiefdom to rewrite its history. Whether you like it or not, historical records confirm Benin was founded by an Ife Prince, originally an Ife principality. The Prince named the land Ile Ibinu later corrupted to Benin and established the Oba dynasty, teaching bronze sculpting, governance, and worship of gods like Ogun, Olokun, etc. He who owns the goat owns the rope. Benin's great is courtesy of Ife.
@@publichealth9470 whatever rocks your boat. However, just provide concrete evidences of your so-called "great yoruba history" and lay the matter to rest. And, Ife didn't create Benin, Benin Kingdom provided evidences to support their call that the Oduduwa you guys said "climbed down from the heavens with a chain" was in fact, a banished Benin Prince who sought solace in Ife after banishment. Just provide sesible, concrete proofs of your assertions, not half baked lies. The world is wiser than you think.
Ife was never an empire. It was a kingdom. Old Oyo was the Empire
But you seeemed to leave out another Igbo civilization, the Aro civilization, although their origins is covered in mystery.
You are right about the Aro's origin. What I could confirm at this time, puts their emergence at 17th century, which is not covered by this overview--it ends at the 16th century. Thanks for the comment.
Yeah you're right... before the Aro civilization, there was the Ibibio kingdom (Ibom kingdom) which lasted for thousands of years before their war with igbos which established the Aro confederacy
Yeah the Aro Confederacy
The AI sounding white male voice is a turn off,why not use a African/Black sounding voice...???
Working on this. Thanks.
@@Historyngpro I've noticed this on other so called Black channels.Really don't know why we did not get ahead of this AI trend which every one knew about..Could be a good industry for Black /Africans to get into & design .Many in our community have the skills to make this our own..we just need to think out of the box &ditch the white gaze in voice overs..
Didn't know it was an AI voice, I thought it was just another European with a PHD telling Africans about their own history 😒
@@derricklangford4725 Yes, I also thought that at 1st..But I've come across video's with African history content with white sounding voices..a couple of months ago they announced about CPT chat being the next big thing,& that's when I noticed African content with white sounding voices..For me any African content with white voices are suspect, but I know AI is created by white people & the stocks have went thru the roof..We seem to be late to the party & need to create AI voices that are designed by Black people be they male or female voices. I have a feeling that some black content feel that a white sounding voice might lend authority to their content ,but for me it does just the opposite. We need to get ahead of this curve fast..!!
There was nothing like Nigeria before Lord Luggard and his mistress, Flora Shaw.
Funny how this Nigeria cannot be found Anywhere on the 10 century b.c. to 16th century a.d. African Map!!~~hmm, I wonder why
Good job, but your historical analysis is too surfaced level and many things left out
Thank you. I hope to do a deep dive on each discovery and kingdom at some point.
Is history of different nation not Nigeria
Nigeria is not a country and from his explanation you can see so
He never pointed out any form of inter-relations with any of the empires of kingdoms, the empires were more concerned with their trading routes and ways of life, Nigeria is not a country and pls can you give us a more detailed video 🙏🏾
I hope to do detailed videos on each kingdom at some point. Thanks for your comment.
NIGERIA NEVER EXIST IN HISTORY
Not history of Nigeria but different countries in today's Nigeria
Nigeria is a British company and slave camp. You lied Bornu has never been conquered you are given your European version of history.
You do not know the history of Nigeria.
There's nothing like Nigeria..
Lugard created Nigeria in 1914...
Biafra is an ancient nation
Nigeria dnt look like a country
Lies. No such thing as History of Nigeria any period less than 1914
Your analysis are vague and untrue
Your narrative Great Benin Empire are completely incorrect & mind you all, that only talk!!! & continue talking what he can't support with documents. About history of Benin as Igodomigodo only hard working Sourvery in Africa, master documents can be found in Oxford. This is very lazy and poor narrative of Nigeria early settlement and civilisation,I can see a deliberate attempts to distort history.
Please go and do a better research and stop misleading the young generations of my great country Nigeria
The research is so wrong. Not even accurate all.
Ife and Oyo were never empires and Nri never existed
😂😂😂😂 u guys are really trying very hard to halt the Benin kingdom but God almighty pass all of una.
All your bini facts are almost incorrect apart from pictures. The most erroneous point is that bini control areas from present Cameroon to Ghana. The bini Kingdom was based in modern day southern portion of Edo state of Nigeria.
There was no such thing as Nigeria back then. Nigeria as a nation did not exist until 1914.
Suggest a better title for the video then.
Nigeria is not a nation. It is a colonial contraption of more than 350 nations.
Trying to sound intelligent but end up sounding like a clown, no country in Africa and the world existed with their current names. The name is new the region is unchanged, now isn’t that simple.
@@gabbygabby2279Is US one nation? Is Canada one nation? Is China one nation? Is Russia one nation! You would call them contraptions too by their history, but they are great and thriving countries and I guess you admire them.

Stop changing our history this video you make is full of fake story
The NRI is ruled by An IGALA... Those are not igbo. Civilization
You must be mad, Attah igala was the last born from nnewi, modern day nnewi town in anambra state, nnewi was the only daughter of ERI the father of all igbos, Attah was a hunter, and according to history our people were farmers and fishermen, Attah introduced war like hunting expeditions, ERI was a priest king and he never liked it so he told him to go up north where bushmeat are in excess, when he got to the area, he found another tribe there, he married the chiefs daughter and became the king, he organized the same kingship style of NRI, which the priest, elders and the people have the ruling power, igala people speaks a dialect of Igbo language so we’re one, though because of intermarriages, the language is mixed, there was no record of Attah ruling NRI kingdom, the kingship always goes to the first son and Attah was in no position of ascending the throne, I’m from NRI kingdom and I hate people who make up stories about our history 🎉
@@janerama-nq6rwyou are the mad one spewing BS, go and learn your origin. I have never seen a people who try to claim everybody’s culture and they can’t tell you their origin.
Ewu oya tell me where ancient Nri kingdom is located in Igalaland, always talking capish to prove a point.
Eri the father of Nri had a son named Attah/Onoja who founded Igalla. Go and research that, it is not the other way round
Nri is widely asserted to be the motherland and cradle of the Igbo ethnicity.
You statrted by using carbon dating facts. Suddenly you jumped from there to Ijaw Niger delta with no proven Carbon dating 😂 academia?
Carbon dating errors:
700 AD ijaw - Not carbon dated evidence.
800 AD Yoruba - carbon dated to 12-14th century
800 AD Igbo ukwu - carbon dated to 8th-10th century.
Carbon dating my be older or younger timeline wise but chronologically the item do not change.
Igbo ukwu has been shown to be older than Ife using the bronzes carbon dated. Your ijaw settlement has no carbon dating that is academic?
Canoes found in Niger delta can not claimed to be Ijaw as other groups use canoe too.
Carbon dated Yoruba and Igbo bronzes has characteristics of these groups like tribal markings.
Lets stick to comparison of apples to apples.
disregard this nonsense

This is false history. History according to Igbo Biafraud. You did a terrible job.
Cool story. Where's your proof?
The ipob biafraud are very busy trying to distort the history of mostly the Benin empire and also of the rest of the southern part of Nigeria. They think that by doing this our children and our people will think that they are Biafrans. Just as they failed in 1967, they're going to fail. We the great Benin are not and will never be biafrans.
