History of Lagos, Nigeria - 1400 AD till 2020s
Free Download of the TIMELINE OF LAGOS HISTORY chart here: drive.google.com/file/d/1rVTET1DxOWe6Z4w8dX_IV5TkBqwfRvH5/view?usp=sharing
Follow the history of Lagos, Nigeria as I use the above historical timeline chart to map its journey to becoming a megacity. From Lagos' inauspicious beginning as a fishing village thousands of years ago, it has grown to become a global megacity with bustling streets and towering skyscrapers. Although, it’s been said that there are few international cities with a worse image, still, Lagos was ranked as ‘the 19th Best City to visit in the World’ by Time Out magazine this year.

African Countries that Ditched their Colonial Names #africanhistory
Переглядів 1,7 тис.Місяць тому
Several African countries have changed their names, often to reclaim indigenous identity, mark independence from colonial rule, or reflect political changes. Here is a list of African countries that changed their names, along with the reasons and dates. At the end of the video, I added 3 bonus changes that are not linked to colonialism: eSwatini, Tanzania and Ethiopia. By reclaiming indigenous ...

An overview of Nigerian history using my timeline of Nigerian history chart. Download Chart: drive.google.com/file/d/1HyxK6xjhic2BaWLI03_1dbW-nZHEgYG0/view?usp=sharing Nigeria’s pre-colonial history stretches far beyond modern borders. It’s a history filled with art, war, diplomacy and, of course, drama. Before the British came knocking, Nigeria was a patchwork of mighty kingdoms and empires, e...
The 5 Most Ancient African Civilizations You Need To Know
Переглядів 8192 місяці тому
Africa is home to some of the world's oldest and most influential civilizations, each contributing uniquely to human history through advancements in governance, culture, technology, and trade. Two major African civilisations developed in African antiquity: one around the Nile River in the northeast and the other, somewhat younger, around the Niger River in the west. The 5 oldest African civiliz...

Recorrect this video
Awesome story . And very informative and interesting
Romans never came across the sahara
So the NRI Kingdom came first?
Nothing like Nigeria. Stop your bullshit
This video and your rhetoric measures African history and civilization by western European standards instead of valuing Africa just it was. There is no problem with Nigerian and African ancient history. Plenty is known about West Africa, and the rest of Africa and the continent's ancient and medieval kingdoms. There is no such thing as 'pre-literate.' You need to take and African studies class instead of just getting on the internet spreading propaganda. It's lazy and desperate.
Nigeria did not exist in that period liars
Should take this down thus all wrong
This did not even mention the great Kwarorafa kingdom, surely there are many other civilisations not mentioned here
You can never have videos like this without typical internet troglodytes coming out and making noise.
You didn’t talk about the Aro confederacy and Arochukwu kingdom of the Igbo people
Ife had no Empire. Oduduwa, a Benin Prince son of Ogiso Owodo gave Ife the history it has today. Oduduwa decendants built Benin Empire and Oyo Empire. I am of the Benin stock.
So Ife had no history before Benin son? Interesting. Folks just talk out of insecurity
False. Archeological evidence of Ife empire are plenty. Pickup a history book
Is anyone in a decendant of the Balarlar people?
U are laryer is not through laryer
🤔
Good job you really tried. The only issue ia the Ai voice. But great job 👍
Thank you very much. I'm working on not using AI voices in the nearest future. 🙏
Good to have this information, I just wish it didn't sound so Ai-ish.
Thanks. I wish so too.
As an outsider who only knows a handful of Lagosians, the city remains an enigma wrapped in a riddle. However, this was the best video I've seen so far on the history of Lagos. Trying to distill the extremely complex history into a less then 20 minute video must have been challenging.
I really appreciate your comment. Thank you. Yes, it was quite challenging.
Point of correction. Nigeria was a place called her today by the british lord lugard mistress in 1950s. Please, dont mix the others of differnt nationalities as one.
Nigeria dnt look like a country
I see a lot of biafran supporters here, you all are igbos, my view on it is that you want a country of your own, for the igbos, I'm ibibio and i have just one question, WHY?
We want a country where equality and justice is being served. We want a country free from marginalization.
@halleyiyke9100 why not make nigeria that country
Nigeria system is currpt beyond repair@Thamemeguykkk
I love this ❤
Hey dummy why don’t you just mind y’all business instead of getting things complicated? You spitting bunch of false information! Benin kingdom is in Nigeria !!! Oloshi people stop your fake news !
Nigeria is not a country and from his explanation you can see so He never pointed out any form of inter-relations with any of the empires of kingdoms, the empires were more concerned with their trading routes and ways of life, Nigeria is not a country and pls can you give us a more detailed video 🙏🏾
I hope to do detailed videos on each kingdom at some point. Thanks for your comment.
You do not know the history of Nigeria.
There's nothing like Nigeria.. Lugard created Nigeria in 1914... Biafra is an ancient nation
Nigeria formed in 1914, Biàfra land has been there for over 5,000 years
Liar
Thank you so much! Im a Nigerian and im proud and grateful❤
NIGERIA NEVER EXIST IN HISTORY
Everything this Chanel said are all fake you people we just come up with a cook and bok history without proper findings the Edo kingdom you said. is more older than every other group in Nigeria
They refused to believe Africans made them. Just imagine. They know very well we made them and we are the smartest race on earth
Ife was never an empire. It was a kingdom. Old Oyo was the Empire
Your analysis are vague and untrue
Wasn't the earth created 4,000 BC? If the earth is about 6,000 yrs old how do we get an 11,000 BC?
😂😂😂
@Historyngpro thanks!
🤦🏾♂️…
Lies from the pit of hell igbo biafraud yamiri you can't change people's history igbos were slaves and that's fact
Ife and Oyo were never empires and Nri never existed
Lies. No such thing as History of Nigeria any period less than 1914
Ethiopia never colonized the video title say after colonial if u can change the title
If you had watched the video, you'll see that at 05:48, I explained that the last 3 changes (which are not numbered with the 19) are not linked to colonialism so...
Hello brother, please how did you do your voice over? I would be grateful if you could reply this.
It's AI.
@ Thank you brother. Please can I get the name?
He meant societies and ethnicities that fall under the Nigerian Nation today ... How were they thousands of years back.. He's not saying we we're Nigerian thousands of yrs ago.. There is no country existing today thats upto 600yrs old.. pls calm down & Go make ur own from the few vague oral history past down - which is still important 😊
Thank you!
This is a good documentary about the land mass that was amalgamated to become nigeria. History dullards will hate this great documentary. This work may miss some details, but is still a classic. Ikom monoliths are equally old.❤🎉
...We didn't develop dis? remember dis used 2b an all black 🌎 planet...✌😎
I think nigeria was first inhabited by white people and they left everything behind and later black populations came in.
Why do European decendants think they are the only people who can do things. Insane! The entitlement is crazy!
You should read about Leo Frobenius, who after seeing our sculptures and some impressive architecture came up with the theory that a white civilization must have existed in Africa prior to the arrival of the European colonisers, and that this white civilization was responsible for every advanced African culture!!!
The Yoruba people and their civilization are older and have a deeper historical foundation than the Kingdom of Benin. The Yoruba developed several kingdoms and city-states long before the Kingdom of Benin was formally established.
If that helps you sleep at night
@@Rs9z.but he’s right. The history is there
Stop changing our history this video you make is full of fake story
Nigerians are the ones that were selling Ba-Ntu as slaves to colonisers, hence you hear Afrikans sold Afrikans. Every Afrikan is black but not all Blacks are Afrikans. Knowledge is power and don't believe anything the whyt men tells you because he is the one that comes to steal, kill and destroy
So what of jukun empire in the middle belts part of Nigeria
There r too many places to mention. You may have to make your own video and educate us. There r literarily thousands of places
The Nok figurines share a similarity with the Himbas of Angola and Namibia. They could be related.
