Used servo motor or stepper?
Hey,
Appreciate your informative and entertaining videos! Was wondering if you're finding the 6000rpm limit for your spindle limiting since you appear to work a lot in aluminum? I have an old matsuura vmc that has a 6000rpm spindle that I'm retrofitting and I'm just trying to see how much thatay limit me. Thanks.
I never have experienced a higher rpm then 6000. There will be a day that i gone upgrade my spindle to the max 12k or at least maybe 10krpm.
At work i work with Mazak machines, those have 12k spindles and if you are doing a lot of aluminium you do realy benefit from the higher rpm, in stainless steel you dont get up to 6k with normal sized tools :)
@@gerrit2107 thanks for the info. I've been playing with HSMAdvisor to look at feeds and speeds. It looks like below 0.375"/10mm is where the high speed helps a ton. I have a couple Nikken NX5 20000rpm speeders that I picked up on ebay that I plan to use for 10mm and below tooling. I may upgrade the bearings on my spindle down the road to hit 10-12k, but not right now since the spindle is in excellent condition.
@@Svanitterzon thanks for the info.
Wat is a, "Harmonic drive"?
Do you have a video about how you built the ways cover?
I believe he bought those on Alibaba. He talks about it in an earlyer video. I think the walk around one.
@@nicholasjacob3594 Thanks

Educational license? LOL! I guess you're teaching us, so it makes it OK. I think Autodesk gives you a free full license anyway if you're a UA-camr.
You get a free personal license as well for businesses if you make less than $100 000 per year.
