- 3+2 machining on 5th axis trunnion first real part
In this video i explain how i machined this battery tray on my diy 5th axis trunnion. Video ended up a little long but hope you can enjoy it.
So nice!
Have been following you in the dark for a while now and must say that you are the best inspiration source.
Just started to CNC mill and you really show what is possible to do!
Thanks! Keep on posting!
Check out Edge Precision if you haven't yet. You'll learn how problems get solved from the industrial manufacturing perspective. Between the two channels you get the best of both worlds IMO.
Gday, I’ve been following the trunnion build from the start, absolute credit to you, fantastic build mate, Cheers
Hello Stef, is there any brake installed on the 5th axis trunnion first and second rotation axes?
No there is no brakes installed. I think it would be beter to have brakes on it instead only use harmonic drives.
"it didn't turn out too bad" holding the most flawless part ever created by a home machinist.
lmao
Excellent keep it coming!
I was thinking there's no way this was worth it vs say a CF-Nylon or PC-CF part... until I saw the Battlebots T-shirt XD
can I ask what dovetail angle? I guess 18 degrees 😅
Thanks for video man, very interesting 👍
that is one of the nicest battery trays I've seen
FLOPPY!!
Floppy ftw 😂
hy which postprocessor do you use and do you also have the problem that edingcnc cannot drive G3 G2?
Hello Stef.Brilliant !Can we private message?email?
At 9:00 I noticed that the cable of the trunion lifts a part of the way cover. Chips could get unter the metal covers and damage the bellow below. You could add some kind of support for the cable so doesn‘t touch the way cover.
Great video!
Is it possible to request the modification of my 3-axis cNC?
Really good stuff, always nice to see your new videos : D
very nice job friend, could you remind me what post processor software and hardware do you use? and what post processor /mill do you use on autodesk? Thanks!
I use the edingcnc post processors in fusion. and i enabled the 4th and 5th axis part that is normally disabled in the post processor script.
Machine is running on a edingcnc cnc760 card
@@Svanitterzon thanks bro!very nice!
Very very nice, congrats
Mooi stukje vakwerk 💪
you are a really genius
Great work on the 5th axis design.
What is "HD 25-50" ?
What NEMA class are the servos used?
What model home sensors are used?
Can you show me link to "radial ball bearing_68_din_DIN 625 - 6010 - 18,SI,NC,18_68" ?
Thank you so much
Awesome. You are an inspiration. You should feel justifiably smug.
very very very good job stef
Nice work!
This is absolutely awesome man! I cant wait to have a 5axis machine! That came out excellent!
600€ for Fusion360 + 1500€ a year for the extension to mill with 5 axis….
I pass on 5 axis milling. But 4 axis milling is something I will look into.
Brilliantly done, man. Amazing build. Can't wait to see more about that robot project.
Best,
Reuben
Hi Stefan,
Is there somewhere we can see the epoxy building process ? I would be interested in epoxy mix; geometry etc. Thanks a lot
i'm stucked at 4th axis. the most difficoult part is cam programming..
Thank you for sharing your trunnion model as well as a machine model, in Grabcad!
very nice.
Love watching this machine work just because someone stumbling on this video would think that you bought it. Very fine job.
Great build series!
If you could do anything over would you change anything?
For instance at 5:52 you show compensation for the part holding being off the center line could that be eliminated by lowering the tombstone below the centerline of the saddle?
ok
Great job Stef! Amazing how good your trunnion is working. To be honest I thought that rigidity would suffer due to that tall clamping post and also because of the trunnion to be made of aluminum itself. But seems to be quite rigid, so again great job.
I was asking myself, how does the machine know to move Z completely up at the time, when the trunnion did the 180 spin. Is that part of the post process or do you have to program that in fusion360?
Thanks for the comment! the post processor takes care of this. On a re position move for the trunnion the machine moves first to g28.
There is some small movement in the harmonic drive i noticed. If you listen carefully when i rough out the outside of the part with the 10mm endmill. you can hear some weird noise when the tool moves around the corner. other the that with just some light machining the trunnion is perfect for hobby purposes.
@@Svanitterzon Thanks for the reply. Can you tell which brand and type of harmonic gearbox you used? Or did I miss that in one of the other videos?
@@dieMukumuku I bought these harmonic drives second handed on ebay. They can already maybe be a little worn out compared to a brand new one.
They are from the German company harmonic drive AG.
Hey Stef, could you test simultaneous machining?
How good is the repeatability and rigidity of this method of fixing the part?
I think your need to replace a new branded spindle bearing or use ceramic bearing instead, the noise is not normal and it will fail soon
"didnt turn out to bad"......it turned out beautiful
Awesome stuff man. Keep them coming.
Grote klasse Stef, mooi om alle progressie te zien.
CNC 3+2 system name is?
3 axis as in xyz and the 2 extra are b and c. Its controlled by edingcnc
Hey Stef. I have a question. I have also designed a cnc milling machine myself and am now starting to build it. However, I don't know where to buy the BT30 spindle from, as there aren't many sellers. Can you tell me where you bought yours from?
Hey, its from aliexpress but that seller i bought it from 4 years a go doesn't sell it anymore.
We want more videos
Nice work Stef !
Hey Stef, super cool om te zien dat je er nu echt technische producten mee kan verspanen! Zou je ook kleine projectjes van anderen (gewoon betaald) willen doen?
Jazeker geen probleem 😃
Very impressive!
You had a moving part erorr on the b axis table in the third video of the built - did you remade that part ?:) or is it still scrap ?
It's still the same part. I think i can just keep using it. Although sofar i only made this part on it😅
hy Stef you are amazing .. you goin to upload the trunnion cad ? I gona build a machine too inspire in yous . Your cad files for the machine yelp me alot tanks man ...
Yeah i will try to upload the model soon as possible i get this question already a lot of times😅
And here it is: grabcad.com/library/5th-axis-trunnion-cnc-1
@@Svanitterzon tank always a great job you make ...
👍👍👍
круто!
