    So nice!
    Have been following you in the dark for a while now and must say that you are the best inspiration source.
    Just started to CNC mill and you really show what is possible to do!
    Thanks! Keep on posting!

      Check out Edge Precision if you haven't yet. You'll learn how problems get solved from the industrial manufacturing perspective. Between the two channels you get the best of both worlds IMO.

    Hello Stef, is there any brake installed on the 5th axis trunnion first and second rotation axes?

    • @Svanitterzon
      @Svanitterzon  2 роки тому

      No there is no brakes installed. I think it would be beter to have brakes on it instead only use harmonic drives.

    At 9:00 I noticed that the cable of the trunion lifts a part of the way cover. Chips could get unter the metal covers and damage the bellow below. You could add some kind of support for the cable so doesn‘t touch the way cover.
    Great video!

      I use the edingcnc post processors in fusion. and i enabled the 4th and 5th axis part that is normally disabled in the post processor script.
      Machine is running on a edingcnc cnc760 card

      600€ for Fusion360 + 1500€ a year for the extension to mill with 5 axis….
      I pass on 5 axis milling. But 4 axis milling is something I will look into.

    Great build series!
    If you could do anything over would you change anything?
    For instance at 5:52 you show compensation for the part holding being off the center line could that be eliminated by lowering the tombstone below the centerline of the saddle?

    Great job Stef! Amazing how good your trunnion is working. To be honest I thought that rigidity would suffer due to that tall clamping post and also because of the trunnion to be made of aluminum itself. But seems to be quite rigid, so again great job.
    I was asking myself, how does the machine know to move Z completely up at the time, when the trunnion did the 180 spin. Is that part of the post process or do you have to program that in fusion360?

    • @Svanitterzon
      @Svanitterzon  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! the post processor takes care of this. On a re position move for the trunnion the machine moves first to g28.
      There is some small movement in the harmonic drive i noticed. If you listen carefully when i rough out the outside of the part with the 10mm endmill. you can hear some weird noise when the tool moves around the corner. other the that with just some light machining the trunnion is perfect for hobby purposes.

      @@Svanitterzon Thanks for the reply. Can you tell which brand and type of harmonic gearbox you used? Or did I miss that in one of the other videos?

    • @Svanitterzon
      @Svanitterzon  2 роки тому

      @@dieMukumuku I bought these harmonic drives second handed on ebay. They can already maybe be a little worn out compared to a brand new one.
      They are from the German company harmonic drive AG.

  • @faisalsantos2574

    I think your need to replace a new branded spindle bearing or use ceramic bearing instead, the noise is not normal and it will fail soon
