Your spot on in this review. I retired from powerline work after 30 years. I decided to take a job at my local FedEx express to stay busy. I'm finishing my third week tomorrow. And at 62 years old I can say it's definitely taxing on my body. But I'm a good way. It's getting a lil easier but it's challenging. All the people including the managers are 1st rate. And moving up is easy if you apply yourself. I've always been a glass is half full person and a hard worker. Once I move into a courier position I'm sure it'll be a lil easier on my body. You sound like a hard working young man with a positive attitude. It'll take you as far as you want it to. Continued success on your journey. 💯👍🏻
Hey Garret, thanks for providing insight on your experience as a package handler, it is nice to hear from someone who has actually worked there for reasonable time! I'm starting my first day as a package handler for FedEx tomorrow and so far I have a good feeling about it!
Yeah, a bit sore, definitely at first, but I got use it pretty quick. You learn to develop strategies on how to pace yourself. It has many fast moments, but my co-workers have been very helpful in helping me keep on track with help and advice. I actually feel alright about it so far, I will keep updating as I go.
Been a package handler for fedex for 3 days now. Already pulled a muscle in my lower back, hurts to walk. have to go back tonight, 6 days a week. Kill me pls, will not survive peak season

I've been at FedEx Ground for a year and eight months now. I took it because it's the only job that isn't in a restaurant that will work with my school schedule (I'm 20 and have classes in the morning). I wish you had of gone in more detail. The benefits you spoke of, you can get those at any company. Many companies offer those kinds of benefts. We need to know more about what the job entails.
@2:20 good luck with that optimism! I remember when I used to think that way! Take it from someone older and more experienced...do like everyone else and take it easy. If you don't mind kissing ass and being fake, I'd suggest that route! The American work force and the powers that be don't value hard workers as much as they do enjoy taking the credit for their work, as well as rewarding their "friends and favorites".
not worth it at all to work hard at FedEx especially at the stations where everyone can work hard and get the job done in 1/3 to 1/4 the time then get payed nothing because they get no hours even though there working harder and then there's no rewards or jack shit for all the hard work for anyone and if your the only one of a couple people working hard they abuse the fuck out of you and they will hyper manager your every single action when you could self manage even better while they ignore all the people doing nothing.
Colin Strickland the money you get for all the work you do over there is only pocket change definitely not worth wasting time and destroying your body for.

There's a chasm between the two. FedEx is a breeze. UPS is hard work. If you become a driver at UPS its worth it if you don't go to college. Six figure salary vs $34,000 max at FedEx. I was at FedEx in Boston for two years as a package handler, a courier, a truck parker, and a team lead, there's just no moving forward there imo. UPS has much better opportunities and they only promote from within which is fair. You have to do your time as a handler instead of just applying as a driver right off the bat but they actually take your credentials into consideration, a lot of young people in school end up taking supervisor positions within 3-6 months of employment, not a lot of money but again those are people who are in college.
These companies feed you with lies. Mainly your supervisiors and co-workers. They tell you that you have an opportunity to grow in the company. The sad true is you will either be stuck working there for years loading/ unloading boxes. You do get a pay raise but do you really want to wait years to make a decent amount to take home. I repeat decent because it's still not enough. The co-workers pressure you to stay telling you about health benefits you can get at almost any job or if you quit you are lazy. The starting pay where I worked is 11. That is only because that is the minium wage where I live. Some people start with 8.75. Multiple that by 4... you are really cashing out 😂😂. Spare yourself if you have a functioning brain that doesn't believe in bullsh*t. The amount of work you will be doing could be considered slavery, because they dont even want to pay more money to hire people to help you. Do yourself justice... thanks.
I agree, I just left because I started my own business and am making a lot more for myself then I could even being a driver. But my point was if you don't have a degree or not sure what you want to do that its a good opportunity. But that might be because at my station people are able to get driver positions within weeks I heard it take a lot longer else where. Thanks for your input!!!
Based on my own experience it was the worst job I ever had, supervisors screaming and insulting the workers, fights breaking out every week between a worker and supervisor. That place is only good for loyal slaves, you don’t get paid enough for the amount of work you do. I’m not sure if all FedEx’s are like that but the one I was at was pretty bad.
if your thinking about working for fedex.. work for ups if you want a better deal pay wise and benefits and retirement. drivers take much longer to get to the position but they make 30-38+hr...
Package Handler: If you can make it for one year, you get a good medical package. You will work for about 5 hours a day. The pay is very low.....which make it a mind game....most people quit because of the low pay....a lil less than $250.00 a week take home. Fast pace job......in the end you always ask yourself, is this worth it yes or no........many say no.....

Isn't there different types of jobs at FedEx other than a delivery driver what about if you just put the boxes in the truck or put the label on there do you get paid the same or would it be little bit less?
Most people where I work at are there for the discounts on cars and electronics . Most of them have their own business like you mentioned on one of your comments. No one has that amount of time to wait years to make good money .

if it's a Hub there are 4 shifts that are probably 3-5 hrs long that might change depending on time of the year and if it's a smaller place there will only be two shifts and the hours can widely change depending on the station and time of year i've worked at stations that are 2 hrs long for several months and goes up to 6 hrs a shift for several months and some stations are 6 hrs and goes up to 12 hrs with no breaks.
Yea watching this video man brings me back to when I worked the holiday rush, it's hard as fuck he ain't lying I worked 330am to 8am and it's not easy at all. U get one truck to your self u have to unload at least 4 if u been there for months and wat I didn't know is the trucks had a lower section my first day I get out tell my floor manager( he was a racist) if u were unloading with a black person he would switch u out and bring a black person to unload my best friend there was black and he was my nigga we would come in together leave together cause we smoked and the manager hated it. Any ways I go to him tell him I'm done he goes to the truck lifts up the floor and I was like fuck another section, when your on the bottom u have to lift the packages up and put the on the roller rather then just knock them over onto the roller.
I work at Fedex and it isnt really that bad I've worked in way worst places and at least they have fans blowing in the trucks. Ive notice at least at my job the people who hate the job are also the laziest, its a hard working job and if you see it as getting paid to go to the gym it aint that bad and the time goes by fast, and ya I noticed they are give me more and others who work hard but IDK I kinda like it lets me know Im not lazy and im doing a fucking good job, and IDK about yall managers but ours buys us gateraid and snacks. I love the job to each their own.
Best video I've come across researching my position before I start orientation in a couple days. Being young and bored I really appreciated your comment about it being good for people who don't know what they wanna do in life quite yet. I am still very intimidated especially being a skinny 20 year old, but I am determined to give it my absolute best shot.
Hey bro I know it’s been 3 years but how has working there been? I have orientation in a couple days and I’m excited but nervous. I’m in the same situation you were in. I’m 18 and skinny lol.
@@Reallylucki it was really chill, just mindless labor. wuz there for like 1.5yrs then got addicted to xanax and stopped showing up lol, it's my fav job ive ever had so far, good luck n try to hav fun
if it's a hub there are full time positions but stations only have part time positions because there are only two shifts 12 hrs apart. Though some stations do work the "part time" employees 12 hrs with no breaks during peak season and will get mad if you leave for your second job that you need because the other times of the years the job only gives 4 hrs.
Travieon Sneed No they didn't,but you do have to watch a safety video and take a couple tests to be hired! The tests just consist of knowing what can be shipped, how to load and unload the trucks properly, how to lift packages in a safe manner and stuff like that!

For me. I started working at fedex a couple month's ago, and it is the is easiest job I ever had. I used to do logging before that and work at saw mills later on. It's nice being your own boss for most of the day, Is other than the 1st hour or so when you're loading. Depending on the individual it can be extremely easy or hard.
Unless you're built like mr Olympia find a new job I've been with ups 5 months your body sorta gets used to it but you get paid shit wages throwing 50-75-150lb boxes all day no breaks barely can even stop to get water 120 degree trailers in summer dusty can't breathe load to the ceiling entire trailers or unload 20+ trucks a day welcome to modern day slavery for a company making 60 billion a year

if it's a Hub there are 4 shifts that are probably 3-5 hrs long that might change depending on time of the year and if it's a smaller place there will only be two shifts and the hours can widely change depending on the station and time of year i've worked at stations that are 2 hrs long for several months and goes up to 6 hrs a shift for several months and some stations are 6 hrs and goes up to 12 hrs with no breaks.
I love working at FedEx
is diff depending on were you go not all buildings the same like the one i work in highschool all over
The amazon workers would probably quit in an hour
You still work there?
Best video I've come across researching my position before I start orientation in a couple days. Being young and bored I really appreciated your comment about it being good for people who don't know what they wanna do in life quite yet. I am still very intimidated especially being a skinny 20 year old, but I am determined to give it my absolute best shot.
jarret same bruh lol we got this.
I fully agree with you. I love my work at Fedex Ground, so far.
Is it possible to work full-time as a package handler at fedex?
The ONE Having The Key At the one i work at you can go fulltime anytime you want just have to pass a druhtest
if it's a hub there are full time positions but stations only have part time positions because there are only two shifts 12 hrs apart. Though some stations do work the "part time" employees 12 hrs with no breaks during peak season and will get mad if you leave for your second job that you need because the other times of the years the job only gives 4 hrs.
is there a dress code? or can you just wear shorts and a t shirt?
No at ups they tell you to wear comfortable clothing
I'm currently working as a Package Handler at FedEx Ground, and they said to wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty!
Tiffany Gutierrez did they drug test
Travieon Sneed
No they didn't,but you do have to watch a safety video and take a couple tests to be hired!
The tests just consist of knowing what can be shipped, how to load and unload the trucks properly, how to lift packages in a safe manner and stuff like that!
Tiffany Gutierrez ok cool. I have a interview in person Tuesday morning w/ Ground here in TX. Since I’m on a job search I’m obviously not doing any drugs so I’m prepared but I just wanted to know what To expect. Thanks
I completely agree I’m a package handler at ups
I have a question about exspress can you get full time there ? I'm working ground ....part time only but I just started so 6 hours was pretty hard on the muscles but I missed the stretching...that's the key I think.
I DONT THINK ANYTHING IS BAD AS MC DONALDS🤔🤔
No trust me, this can be a lot worse. With the way they treat you..Its like jail, slavery and boot camp combined into one. Mcdonalds is like a vacation compared to this.
Monique West go try package handling, and you'll probably slap yourself for making that statement.
@@BigDutchKingTut Exactly lol, once you been here for a while you realize it's easy, but McDonald's? Lol never you pretty comparing sitting on your ass to 4 hours + of cardio no heat for winter or air for summer.
Y'all got me laughing so hard ! Il loving be it! Lmbo
@@dcta51 Dammmm that's hell
Thanks for the video bro! my first Day at ups is this Sunday 👍🏽 kinda nervous but more excited
No problem Bro. Thanks for watching. Id love to hear how your first day goes, good luck!
How was it?
its easy to get hired but the work is hell. if you really have no fucking choice this is the job for you.
This job is hard I rather work at mcdonald at least I didn't c9me h0me withcsore back I rather deal with customers than 1000000 box ohh by the way naive young man they 9nly promote ppl they know friends family not you
tim gong give me a break. They promote people that are worthy of the jobs. I worked at ups for 5 months and was promoted and didn’t know anyone.
MF Grinch what were you promoted to?
Hell nah brah I prefer working this job over working at Sonic
For me. I started working at fedex a couple month's ago, and it is the is easiest job I ever had. I used to do logging before that and work at saw mills later on. It's nice being your own boss for most of the day, Is other than the 1st hour or so when you're loading. Depending on the individual it can be extremely easy or hard.
Lazy people suck but make me look so much better!
Interview Wednesday any advice for questions...
Unless you're built like mr Olympia find a new job I've been with ups 5 months your body sorta gets used to it but you get paid shit wages throwing 50-75-150lb boxes all day no breaks barely can even stop to get water 120 degree trailers in summer dusty can't breathe load to the ceiling entire trailers or unload 20+ trucks a day welcome to modern day slavery for a company making 60 billion a year
Run
demetrius x 😂😂
Bil people like you who proclaim jobs you don't like or low wages are slavery shows that you have no idea what slavery is. It's called better yourself to get jobs that pay higher instead of whining and moaning ho w companies don't kowtow to lazy people.
@@Fent1231 STFU ! It's slavery dummy . I want to see you work there if it's not then!
Love my job at FedEx
as long as I have my wax pen with me I'm good ahah
Yo man how long did the background check take
@@brandobee2264 takes like a week. Im sure you've been contacted by now
@@BatManThugs nah actually I wasn't 😆😆 it's a long story but apparently I didn't fill out the information correctly the first time so I had to resend my documents it came back sometime last week saying it was done but I still haven't received an email from FedEx mind you I had an interview on the 26th of October it's damn near been a month 😆😆😆
@@brandobee2264 damn bro i got called in for orientation about a week after sending my background check forms. Its rough in there today was my first day i just got thrown in a trailer without training just watched a few vids and did about an hours work shadowing a guy prior to today.
