- This prairie dog shooting video features slow-motion exploding kill shots and tips for becoming a more accurate shooter. Prairie dogs are considered a keystone species, with their mounds often being used by other species. Their mound-building encourages grass development and renewal of topsoil, with rich mineral, and nutrient renewal in the soil, which can be crucial for soil quality and agriculture.
The prairie dog habitat has been affected by direct removal by farmers, and the more obvious encroachment of urban development, which has greatly reduced their populations. The removal of prairie dogs "causes undesirable spread of brush", the costs of which to livestock range and soil quality often outweighs the benefits of removal. Other threats include disease. The prairie dog is protected in many areas to maintain local populations and ensure natural ecosystems.

Yes, very much so. Cattle & Horses can break legs and have to be put down after much suffering. Vegitation is destroyed with dangers of turning into a dust-bowl situation. Some prairiedog towns can grow to huge sizes, many miles wide. They reproduce at a very fast rate. Research "Predation"

It’s usually not sadism. You do become desensitized by killing, especially for work. Most wouldn’t think twice about killing a bug, because we’ve killed so many.
I feel what you feel when you watch this, but someone has to do it. Farmers pay these people to kill pests. If there is enjoyment in it, it’s enjoyment in the sport…the marksmanship…not the killing itself.

@@glennllewellyn7369A bit hard to tell as cat heads are a bit more solid and they have a lot more body mass to project across the landscape, A feral cat can grow upto about 1.5 mtr long and about 10-15kg.
Having said that I found an ear about 12 feet away from its owner and on one occasion an eyeball hanging in a tree branch about 8-10 feet above where it was sitting.

@@smileydog5941 gophers create holes in the ground where the above animals step into & break legs causing their death. As well their burrows & mounds remove a great deal of arable land used for feed or cereal crops. Hard on machinery. Other critters feed off the remains of the deceased

Na, not that expensive per shot, especially if they reload. Costs me about .35 per shot, what they're using are probably $1 a shot. 🤷♂️
