Just helped a friend of mine do this on his Stinger after watching this. Figured there had to be a better way than taking all that stuff apart. We did it all from under the car. Used an inspection camera to help with getting the socket on the fill plug and to get the hose in the hole. Was actually pretty easy and no need to take anything else apart.
Glad I saw this video now. I have the car on stands putting the exhaust on. I will have to check out the oil and see how it looks! Thanks for the video!
There is a TSB to change the diff oil for cars experiencing shuddering in tight turns or low speed, with a special friction modified oil. Do you know how this amsoil compares to the “special” oil?
You want to snug those good, like a drain on your oil. 25-30 # is more than enough. As far as the front clip you don't need to pull it off. You'll either need a lift, or get the car up on stands. I viewer actually left some good feedback below on how he did his.
I'm not a Kia tech so I can't give you the book answer. I did mine at 21k because of the hard use. If I keep driving it like I do, I'll probably do it again around 42k. Longer if I decide to just daily it.
I once asked a dealer if they knew any tricks of changing diff fluid and their response was, "we have never changed diff fluid. We just replace them when they go out". These manufacturers don't want us servicing the vehicles properly.
I need to do this ! Is this the same fluid a 19 g70 3.3t awd would take? I can’t seem to find the capacities for the front and rear. Any information would be appreciated. Much love!
You will uses the exact same amount. 1.5L for the front, and 2.7L for the rear, unless it has LSD but I don't think you have LSD. www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/2019/genesis/g70/3-3l-6-cyl-engine-code-e-2-turbo/?volume=us-volume
How much fluid and what weight for your transfer case (PTU) for your AWD? How often is it recommend to change it, I respect you completed your differential early.
Hello. Did you try to change a 4wd transfer case oil? I seen an articles about extremely greasy fluid after 20k ever. Transfer case doesn't have a drain plug, but looks like it has a fill plug and an oil syringe can help. Redline has their MT-LV fluid for our transfer case.
Oh gosh I don't remember. I just snuggled it pretty good. There's no pressure in the Differentials, they just need seal and hold the fluid. If I was to bet it would be close to the oil drain plug.
Hey man thanks for the video. I'm going to tackle this on my gt2 awd stinger here pretty quick and your video will definitely make it easier. While I'm doing the front and rear dif oil I might as well do the transmission oil as well. What ATF do you recommend from Amsoil's site for our cars?
Everytime I change the oil in my Stinger I see the drain plug for the front diff and begin to look around for the fill plug. Then I start scratching my head. Thinking... it's gotta be here somewhere. This video will save me time, cuss words and a headache. Mine has 33K on her and I plan on changing the diff fluids soon. Thanks for making the video. As a suggestion could you make a video on changing the ATF next time. When you changed your ATF did you do a drain and fill or complete flush? I plan to do a basic drain and fill of my ATF along with changing the drain pan/filter.
I did my transmission in a transmission shop that let me use their lift. I didn't film it but did a step by step process write up with photos. I posted it on a Stinger FB group. I can try and the old post..
Nice video man 👍 have 50k miles now and need to do all my fluids including tranny. What size/offset wheel and tires you running? Staggered or squared set up?
Great question, there are only two ways I know how. 1. Get to a Kia dealership with your VIN, they can look up the build code and let you know if that was an option with your car. 2. Drain the rear Diff fluid, If it has 3.0 pints, it's an LSD, if it has 2.7, it's without an LSD. I would buy the additive anyway JIC, then plan a day to do your fluid swap.

Planning on changing front and rear fluid on my awd soon. Do you remember what size hex is needed for the front fill plug?
10mm, just saw in the video. Thanks!
JT's KIA in columbia literally just told me that front diff was NOT serviceable. lmao. thanks for the vid bro!

Wow! Thanks for sharing.
What about the center diff ?
Can it be changed never seen anyone done it
Do you mean the transmission? I have a tutorial for that
@awdgt2stinger270 ok nice, so that means the stingers don't have a center diff / transfer case then.. I'll check out your tutorials
Thanks dude

When looking up the type of oil, I see that it’s supposed to be 75W-85, but you are using 90 instead. What is the reason for this?
Do you know the torque spec for the drain and fill plugs or is it just hand tight? Also is the front bumper removal necessary?

I did mine at 21k but I'm hard on mine. I'll probably do it again at 35k

Agreed
How many miles do you have on your car when you change the differential fluid.

How's your stinger running after the change?
Like from the factory 👍
I have a 2018 AWD GT2....love this car
If I have a RWD do I have to get to the front to change as well? Or is that only for AWD ? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Nope, you're good. No diff up front so nothing to do :)

John, it's all in the video. Amsoil Signature series ATF and the liters depends on whether you have a LSD or not
@@awdgt2stinger270 I saw the differentials, front and rear. I completely missed the transfer case...
Why I ask is I've got a 2019 SHO and looking to change in 2022. It front wheel biased and only a has a RDU and a PTU.
Great video did you add the differential additive?
I didn't need to because I'm AWD and the rear is not a SLD
@@awdgt2stinger270our AWD models in Canada all come with the LSD.
Thanks for the video. What type of spray cooler is that? (Co2 or Nos)? I like that style better than the circle types.
Here it is :) www.summitracing.com/parts/nos-16034nos
Thank you for sharing. Have you done your own transmission fluid?
Yes, I wrote a tutorial on doing just that and posted it on the Facebook group "3.3t Performance Discussion" on 5 September.
Hello.

I seen an articles about extremely greasy fluid after 20k ever.
Transfer case doesn't have a drain plug, but looks like it has a fill plug and an oil syringe can help.
Redline has their MT-LV fluid for our transfer case.
Th video explains it all
Whats the torque specs for the drain and fill bolts?

Go with SS, Signature series
I thought Stingers were non serviceable trans? Doesn't say anywhere in manual when to get it done
What about disassembling the steering gear to change oil in front part?
Just tried it. The steering gear is holder by 4 screws. Just release them and it goes down a bit and you have nice access to the fill plug. Enjoy :)

Same procedure, but if you're not beating on the car, I wouldn't rush to do this.
