For my personal experience as a typist, there are two ultimate ways to improve fast typing skills: (1) Put rest your fingers at the home keys. Once you start, you can easily type the other keys correctly and almost no error. (2) Do not look at the keyboard almost at all times during typing. That will boost your confidence in fast typing. You cannot quickly type if you look at the keyboard then to the computer screen and keyboard again, just to make sure that you are typing the right keys.
Aiming for at least 98% accuracy every time have really gained me huge result just within a month. Able to do 100wpm on more regular basis than just a once in a blue moon occurrence. Accuracy should be the top priority if you really want to type faster and be actually applied irl day to day typing tasks and not just for races. Speed should be a byproduct of typing very efficiently.
I think the concept of the "home row" is a place to start for beginning typists in order to learn the placement of the keys. I rarely set my fingers on the home row anymore, except for when I'm taking a break to compose a thought. If I'm typing copy that I'm reading from a printed or handwritten page, my fingers never stop moving. But then again, I taught myself how to type when I was 8 years old on my grandmother's manual typewriter.
@@daskeyboard My hands move and hover over the keyboard. I do find that the 6,T,G,B row and the 7,Y,H,N row is the cutoff between what keys I'll press with my left hand and right hand, which is definitely a product of having learned "touch typing."
If I consciously think about it my fingers will be in the home row. Once I start typing and I’m no longer actually thinking about typing I’m pretty sure that my hands are actually adaptively hovering near the home row position. Then my fingers aren’t really resting on the surface of the keyboard, but my fingers touch the keys mostly only when pressing keys.

How long did it take you? I type alot more than you do and have been for last few years due to job being in IT and prior to this (even though I'm 23), but my wpm is probably only 40, with no improvement. I don't know what it is I really want to improve the other week I spent around probs 2 and half hour and other days 1 and half hours like every day or so to learn the home row. I need guidance i found your comment interesting about typing normal way, but then how shall I remove my mistakes ?
Ok an update o didn't give up and now I am making much less mistakes, my fingers don't feel uncomfortable either typing with 10 fingers. It's like at first I was spreading ice cold button on a bread price and my fingers were the bread that was breaking up due to the residence. Now it feels more like the butter is warmer and my bread and fingers are moving with it. My biggest lesson to everyone is if your using these websites the most important is don't do 2 hours and then stop and forever. Carry on to 5 hours and you will definitely see the difference. Now my wpm is still around 25 to 30 but on the keybr website i am hitting 40 plus, and have unlocked half the keyboard. Another important thing don't rely on one website if you lose focus or start to do bad go onto type racer and have a race and come back or use nitro type or money type which is really good just type a paragraph and come back you don't need to unlock all fingers just think and type you will make it easier for yourself in the future when unlocking new fingers. I will continue to update you but yes don't lose hope after first 3 hours after that is when the critical time starts.
I have noticed that with using QWERTY, that with some word combinations my fingers don't want to press certain keys, cause it ends up feeling very uncomfortable and it really screws with my accuracy/speed a lot of the time, even though I know what fingers should press what keys without looking, it's gotten to the point where I almost want to give up on QWERTY, cause I've been doing this for a long time now with little to no improvement.
I just started mechanography and the thing he said about the Y letter I found myself doing. Also with letter B and other ones. It surprised me because It was just si natural for me to do that for speed.
Izzy's advice is quite helpful. 'B' was my bane until I developed a way of typing it with my left thumb and right index finger, depending on the next letter. It's smoother now. PS: I'm still at 80 wpm
I've started up again with the home row method, because I noticed I almost didn't use my pinky and ringfingers... One thing I've now learned is to use the left shift key waaaay more, which makes my right hand much faster and it doesn't have to contort itself so much anymore to get the shift key AND the + sign for example. After relearning to use ALL my fingers, I see myself switching back to a more fluid (non-home row) style of typing though.
I agree with chak, When I type, I don't use home row the way I was taught, I don't always stay on home row, for example when typing home row, I type home, and now my left middle finger is on e and my right index is on m and my right ring finger is on o so then my left hand is tilted towards r and w, I am no longer on the home row, I then adjust from there.
@@shabbirabbas5720 try getting higher. 95% is still not that bad. When you type slowly with no mistakes vs fast with mistakes you'll definitely see the difference. My aim is to get 97%-100% accuracy when typing.
4th place cathy says the keyboard shouldn't affect your abilitie a significant amount in my case membrane to mechanical increased me by maybe 10 to 15wpm
i always get relatively high wpm during school breaks lmfao. its pressuring me to do the tests quickly i think. just hit 100 wpm (my new pb) a few hours ago during class.
I am struggling with the hitting letters with different fingers and I notice how I make more mistakes when I don't do it. It's pretty easy to press the letter c with the index in a word like "because" and the middle finger for other words but I have a difficult time with the combination of L and O as in the word "follow". I try to use the ring finger for the O and the pinky for the L but it feels really unnatural and I have to move my hand a lot. What fingers are you using for this combination?
My tip: Let’s say you have a bad pinky that has a long Nail, it’s weak, whatever. You might complain that you do not like using your pinky. You do not have to use your pinky, you should adapt your typing style to be best for speed, accuracy, and comfort.
When chak was talking about finger placement it it showed the illustration of left hand on what seemed like on q, w, e, r and right on h, j, i, o. Is that his finger placement or just an example?
@@daskeyboard He was talking about setting your fingers up for the next word, if you keep your placement on the same keys then it will be harder to adapt.
Ik I’m really late but I use home row method but instead I use: Left index for; f, g, h, c, v, r and t. Left middle for; e, d, x and r. Left ring for; w,s and z. Left pinky for; a, caps and q. Right index; u, y, m, n, j and h Right middle; I, k and , Right ring; o, l, . and occasionally p Right pinky; ;, / and occasionally p I also think the home row method is wrong because the human pinky can’t reach that far. Oh yeah and also either thumb is used for space bar.
I can confirm that body temperature is true. Currently my fingers are freezing cold and I'm typing around 90 words per minute with terrible accuracy. On a warm day I've typed 145 per minute. Homerow just helps you learn how to touch type, however.
The only reason we have the home row and QWERTY - it was to slow people down . Typewriters were once mechanical and 60 wpm was about the limit for them
I'm confused about using my pinky fingers, should I keep practice with them or just don't even try, because pinky fingers don't make much of a difference?

I agree with Kathy and Sean Colemak and Dvorak are way better for homerow and I had an old 2011 keyboard and I typed the same speed.
Were they chilly?
I agree with chak, When I type, I don't use home row the way I was taught, I don't always stay on home row, for example when typing home row, I type home, and now my left middle finger is on e and my right index is on m and my right ring finger is on o so then my left hand is tilted towards r and w, I am no longer on the home row, I then adjust from there.
Accuracy should be 100% to get max speed even if you have to slow down, comrades
True I always had 95% accuracy with a 80wpm but when I worked on accuracy I hit 110wpm
What fingers are you using for this combination?

every single mechanical keyboard enthusiast: ON MY WAY
My tip:
Let’s say you have a bad pinky that has a long Nail, it’s weak, whatever.
That animation was just an example, not necessarily to be specific on keys to start with.
@@daskeyboard He was talking about setting your fingers up for the next word, if you keep your placement on the same keys then it will be harder to adapt.
you need to touch when you type
Yes, indeed!
35 wpm 98% accuracy
mine 69 wpm with 97 accuracy
Does anyone knows these typers channel name
Their social media handles (if they have accounts) are in the quotations, although a few of them have multiple profile names.
Ik I’m really late but I use home row method but instead I use:
Left index for; f, g, h, c, v, r and t.
Left middle for; e, d, x and r.
Left ring for; w,s and z.
Left pinky for; a, caps and q.
Right index; u, y, m, n, j and h
Right middle; I, k and ,
Right ring; o, l, . and occasionally p
Right pinky; ;, / and occasionally p
I also think the home row method is wrong because the human pinky can’t reach that far.
Oh yeah and also either thumb is used for space bar.
Where can I watch the full video of what they are saying?
I can confirm that body temperature is true. Currently my fingers are freezing cold and I'm typing around 90 words per minute with terrible accuracy. On a warm day I've typed 145 per minute. Homerow just helps you learn how to touch type, however.
i think sean wrona is right because may be the querty is bad.
The only reason we have the home row and QWERTY - it was to slow people down . Typewriters were once mechanical and 60 wpm was about the limit for them
Home row is very effective but just not for QWERTY.
lool I should update that mic, It's not getting a full bodiness out of my voice 😠
Yeah. Appreciate the insight though. Cheers!
@@Katharthik Awesome!
Sean Wrona speaks the truth.
I really like the Das Keyboard 4 Professional, it is the best keyboard that I have bought for work and home. 👍
Good choice!
What keyboard does Anthony Chak use?
Pretty nice video, you earned a new sub
I'm confused about using my pinky fingers, should I keep practice with them or just don't even try, because pinky fingers don't make much of a difference?
Personally, I started the hobby of speedtyping on a chromebook keybboard with impossibly flat keys, so typing on mechnical keyboards is really hard for me and slows down my accuracy by like 10 percent, I wish I started on a mechanical keyboard😥
It will transfer over easily. Get a mechanical keyboard and stop wasting your time.
@@Supersquigi bruh i have been typing on a mechanical keyboard for about a year now and I still haven't reached my typing speed on my chiclet keyboard. I'm literally stumbling over words right now as I am typing this comment.
@@ilovejoshua you do not have to use a mechanical, I would say that most people I met typing really fast were doing it on macs and membrane keyboards. Everyone has their preferred style of keyboard, and at the end of the day the only things that matters is your typing speed.
Eiko said a right thing, I always felt, but I never realized that, When I feel very warm, then, I can type a bit faster, but when I feel cold or normal then my performance gets a bit slow.
it's the same with me
Thank you very much for your awesome videos!!!!
My issue is that when I'm not looking the keyboard, I'm writing gibberish.
My question is on how to learn to not look the keyboard and know what letter I'm typing.
Then my speed will start increasing hopefully
Quite helpful, but I just want to improve my everyday typing. I'm not joining competitions or such. The comment about the keys in the center was a little bit helpful, though.
Home row obviously doesn't make any sense if you are typing with qwerty and if you already know where each finger should go
I'd thought thats impossible but know I see amazing people can reach 100+ wpm but me I only reach 25-30 wpm
My keys are hard to use. What should i do to soft these??
What were their typing speeds? It would’ve been great if you included it in their banner.
This would be relative, because there were some very challenging texts where WPM speeds were very slow, but you can review all their speeds here: ultimatetypingchampionship.com/archive-2020
@@daskeyboard Right, I totally understand. I was more or so referring to the speed that got them their ranking. But ok, thanks for the link I will check it out!
I've learned that typing each letter rather than words works good for me
If you can type it slowly. you can typing correctly.
Before I watch the whole thing can someone tell me if this is for slow typers to start or for intermediate typers to improve?
Appreciate the video, plus the graphics but, I can see anything that will work for me... Thank you
Very good tips for learning typists. 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Hello I have a question, so I type with my arms pretty straight with my keyboard far away from me on my table. Should I use it closer to me to improve my speed?
SleepingTurtleYT As long as your current position is comfortable and it wont hurt your hands/wrists when typing for long periods of time.
LeSirH ok cool. I think I just overthink it if I can’t type as fast as I’d like and instead of getting better I worry. Thx
im practicing a lot but not improving
focus on accuracy speed will follow
the blur filter is sort of strong.
Can you teach me how to start being faster like you
vielle is representing the nitro typers
Great job
i can type 481 wpm with 2 % accuracy
Last tips was the really good one.
thank your guys very much, that really helped alot.
My tip on typeracer is to ctrl c the hardest word in the text and ctrl v when it gets to it :)
That's just cheating
I'm glad it is not abnormal that that I find it harder to type with cold environment.
Basically just learn how to touch type and use monkeytype everyday.
(that's what i did for 5 months and my wpm rised from 50wpm to 120wpmnl average in 100 words of monkeytype; but one time i reached 178 wpm in 10 words of monkeytype. Try to memorize certain patterns of how your fingers move while typing as well once you master the keystrokes. btw i did this when i was 15 so....)
which i use dvorak or quaraty please answer me
There's no easy answer to that question, but you can visit this blog for more details on Qwerty, Dvorak and Colemak: www.daskeyboard.com/blog/qwerty-vs-dvorak-vs-colemak-keyboard-layouts/
I'm at 50wpm and struggling so much to cross that
so im one of the top typists out there like 167 wpm I agree with chak and eiko like i type 5 hours a day and I typed on like 87 keyboards and the if u use qwerty makes no sense be cuz ur fingers dont look like that ur middle fingers a longer but ur pinky and the thumb cant reach the upper part of the keyboard so u need to put ur finger up to the higher part of the keyboard when u type my method is I use dorvak keyboard . . . sorry if I spelled it wrong sorry I use dorvak because I get a average of 167 and I completely agree with eiko just saying
Can anybody tell me what is the summary of this video.
practice a lot
:O amazing tips
Good tips of typing
My normally typing is between 25-32 wpm
Same
Sean wrona is my idol
I have a difficulty to increase speed over 80-85 wpm.
Same bro. consistently pushing into to high 80s and low 90s has been a nightmare for me.
I too am struck at that zone... did you improve now?
@@Bhuvan_MS , I've improved a bit. But it's still something around 86-92 wpm.
@@YuraJayRJay don't worry you will improve soon
Now that's cool. Really cool
Getting above 85wpm has been a nightmare for me. Granted I was at 23 wpm 4 months ago but I hit a plateau at 80 wpm and I don't know how to get past it.
that was me but for like 100 wpm, and when i finally got it and i just quit and naturally got faster
Getting above 85-90 is just having aggression to some extent.. I am too in that range and when I try to push myself, I get 92-93.. still trying :)
#101IQ SIR PLEASE GUIDE ME I WANT TO REACH UPTO 70WPM.

are they still using qwerty or dvorak??
There was one typist in the qualifications that was on a Dvorak layout and the rest were on QWERTY.

wth did brandon "vielle" vielle say...?
