While I was trying to find the identity of the composer, it turned out that production of this game was subcontracted out to a few different small developers. The music probably was too, and there is no credit in the game for it.
Yeah its a real shame! This game in general is a bit crusty but is still fantastic. Maybe it would be a great OST to try remixing with modern chiptune techniques!
I remember renting this game from Blockbusters back in the days expecting something as fun as Chuck Rock II. I was mistaken and didn't play it beyond the first level lol The music is pretty turgid too. Considering how many great arcade soundtracks Taito have done, this is not their best at all
I remember teaching myself to play the Fire Rock theme from this (20:25) on the piano back at school and (after changing a lot of the notes) developing a jazz tune from it.
@@tolani05 My guess is the rights were bought by Data Discs when they put out their LP of the OST. They've released a few Shinobi records as well, so maybe they bought up the old Koshiro stuff. Kind of odd though, because they're an English company, not French, and it's hard to imagine Yuzo or Sega or whoever owns the rights selling them off.
Let me tell you that there is music that uses GEMS and has better FM patches than this, if you are one of those who think that Sound Driver = Sound quality you are very wrong, GEMS is a solid driver with complete functions and at the same time it is quite complex.
